My take is that the Islamic world is at a society turning point.
In future times people will read history books about this period.
My hope is that they will read like we read about the French revolution and not like the dark ages.

    Alexa

Can you describe for me how your police would deal with this if it were a police station in your town surrounded by 1000's of ikhwan?

These are the people that Baradei is asking we Egyptians to sit down and have dialogue with????? seriously!!!!

Most Americans, from my position, seem to want to have these Ikhwan guys rampaging around America.

They must want it because they have so much wanted it to happen in other countries like Chechnia, Yugoslavia, Russia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and now Egypt. We been doing this stuff for over 30 years now.

Shouldn't we get a couple million Talmu-"Islamic" cutthroats running around America too?

and what is the right thing? Support a bunch of religious zealots or support the 30 plus million egyptian people who are tired of being ruled by them.
The opposition has yet again missed its opportunity to get its act together and form a robust party and leadership and now there is again a vacuum in place. The military could have used a bit of help as their job is not nation building.

You actually think our army is going to force our government to resign. When we had riots from the disadvantage a couple of years ago, our police did not go in with guns. Now Theresa May, that woman who takes away people's citizenship and then turns them over to the US to be droned, wanted the army to come in at these riots. They refused. Our police do not go about like yours who I have been watching dressed as army officers and carrying military arms and using military bulldozers and other military equipment.

Egypt is back in the stone age regarding democracy and human rights now. Your resigned vice president has said this was not necessary. Here from his resignation letter

Looks like you are supporting the pro Mubarak side now, irony what.

The BBC of all places indicated that it looks as if you are being fed misinformation.

You know what, those here on the ground in egypt no longer care what they say and what they want and what they approve of. There is not a single country in this region which isn't worse off due to meddling by the USA, unfortunate as it is.

Comrad Roadster wants us all to imagine that all the bloodshed in "the Middle East" is Muslims doing it.

    First of all:
The Allah Akhbar crazies being armed and assisted by the USA, Saudis and Israelis are NOT Muslims.

2ndly, real Muslims are followers of Christ.

The presidency was advised of the military movement prior to its implementation, actually the council was -so obviously Mr Baredi was as well. If he had a problem he should have stepped down early this am. He continually waffles and weaves. good riddance.

Tecoyah must have been asleep for a long time, or he's addicted to the party line broadcast on the TV day and night to not know that the USA is arming, supplying and helping the Allah-Akhbar terrorists.

Where are the American People on this issue?
Are they doing something to stop our country from destroying our Mother nation, Syria as we recently destroyed Libya?
I don't see anyone doing anything in this regard.
Go back to sleep with your beer and your TV.

Firstly, the situation is very unlikely due to our form of established government, our constitution, and our general dismissal of religious extremes.
However.....should such a mess transpire, it is likely our government would use the military to tamper down the population creating it, likely with great support from the citizenry.

The Police here are not charged with such a thing....as they are separate from the Federal government. When things get truly nasty...we call in the national guard.

Regardless of the fact you personally do not like him, I understand he was very respected and helped to give credence to the coup from many people who otherwise would not have given it. As you will see if you look back through this thread, I originally said that yesterday the news was saying that the liberal elements in the interim government were what was holding the army back from violence. They wanted it resolved in a more democratic way. I said they had lost the argument. That is further shown by the resignation. It is also being suggested that this may well lead to the secular/liberal moving away from the coup which will leave it as a Mubarak supporters army coup.

At this point, the right thing is so stop all weapons and cash, full stop.

It's great to say we want democracy, and stand up for those people to choose their own voice. But then they did. They did so, democratically. That democratic government has just been overthrown, and now we're to believe that those who overthrew that democracy, are only after democracy?

They did! They formed a platform. They exceeded this. Not only did they get their act together, they GOT ELECTED BY POPULAR MAJORITY!!!

The tanks come and quash, and now they're all pathetic I suppose.

Though your attempt at debasement is recognized....it seems rather pathetic. It is likely most Americans of minimal intelligence understand we are not sitting by and simply watching, the United States military and intelligence system has fingers in virtually every aspect of the world. Though I di indeed enjoy a beer and watch TV....we have this cool thingy called the internet that allows us to research almost anything.

For starters, they would shoot to kill anyone with a camera attempting to document such reasoned response.

Morsi won 51.73% of the popular vote.

You could throw out any leader in the world and half the population would rally against them.

You can't just claim your side of the divide is suddenly the only true will of the people. Especially when it's your side that lost the vote.

I don't think we taught them how to do democracy right.

You're meant to vote out those you don't like in the next election, not overthrow them.

Let it go....Unless it comes from an individual worthy of respect, it makes little difference to me.

Once someone feels the need to resort to such tactics....it is actually an indication of success in my mind.

The Islamic world didn't 'hate' you in the 1800s just because some Muslim pirates in Northern Africa attacked your ships.

Democracy is the worship of naked force by the "Majority" against others.
It has not principles and is capable of any kind of evil.

The Egyptian Army is protecting the Egyptian people against the evils of democracy.....especially Talmu-"Islamic" democracy like the Allah Akhbar crazies attacking the Syrian people.

The Ikhwan is the US Muslim Brotherhood, not the Egyptian. I do agree with you about the Egyptian Army though.

Maybe the govt could resolve the whole thing by having stages set up with exotic dancing poles for strippers, and hot, young women dancing there, wearing niqabs, and (in accordance with Muslim Brotherhood policy), not taking off the niqabs. Could that be the end of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt ? Might be worth a try, and better than shooting people.
