Herd immunity without vaccination would result in 42 million deaths at less than a percent mortality rate at the very minimum with a 60 percent infection rate. (globally)

    Dumb.

Your're right about the first goal. Wrong about the second. The second goal is to bend the curve back DOWN...so that when we do begin to open up, we don't do it with the virus EVERYWHERE.

If straightup total infection was the goal then why lock down at all?

That's ridiculous. The GOAL is to get control of this thing...ease pressure on the hospitals so that when/if you do get it. you can get decent care.

    Slow it down enough

    A. Test like maniacs. Identify where it is. Contact trace. Isolate and quarantine

    B. Spread the infection out so that it isn't everywhere at once.If herd immunity is reached by the group with the least chance of dying...hundreds of thousands of lives will be saved. The closer we get to herd immunity, the easier it is to avoid for at risk people.

    C. Spread it out over time so treatments and hopefully a vaccine will be produced.

Just giving in to it and "hoping" means that millions die...in a very short period. Hospitals and the ECONOMY can not hold up to that.

THAT is a TOTAL disaster in every possible way...and yet you folks seem bound and determined to do just that

    That's right.

A Look At The Democrat Dallas Judge Who Jailed A Salon Owner.

No bail, no trial, just "describe yourself as selfish" or be immediately jailed. This Proud Patriotic Texas Mom squared her shoulders, looked this piece of crap moralizing judge in the eye and told him that she would NEVER describe working to feed her children as "selfish". Unlike this piece of crap self-righteous moralizing sermonizing judge, she doesn't have a 6 figure tax payer paid job while under shelter-in-place.

The Piece of Crap Sermonizing Judge Who Jailed a Texas Mom Because She Wouldn't Say What He Commanded Her To Say.

Shelly Luther was fined $7,000 and ordered to seven days in jail by District Court Judge Eric Moye on Tuesday whose ruling has since become a nationwide controversy.

Luther was released on Thursday by the Texas Supreme Court which came just after the state’s Republican Governor, Greg Abbott issued an executive order retroactively suspending local ordinances that throw citizens in detention for noncompliance with local stay home orders.

Texas Republican Sen. Lion Ted Cruz went to the salon for a haircut on Friday and Abbott discussed the matter with the president at the White House.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton charged Vile Scum Moye’s ruling as “outrageous,” a view which was echoed by many state leaders.

In 1992, Moye was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and almost secured a federal judgeship under the Clinton administration. Since then, Moye has still worked on “numerous” Democratic campaigns throughout his career.

its natural its science its the way species including man survive over the millennium its the mechanism that evolved to insure the survival of species
if we keep sheltering our selves from deadly virus that will inevitably keep popping up we will never build immunity to them and that will eventually wipe out the human race
if it requires a certain percentage of the population to die to a deadly virus so the human race can build an immunity to them to survive as a species so be it
does that sound cruel to some I suppose it might but I'm looking at the big picture the survival of the human race in the long run

that is the biggest issue with jailing people over this, it's puts them at risk of catching it in jail

Well, San Diego is planning opening up a lot of businesses, if they can demonstrate social distancing, and so forth.

I think we can find a compromise. But Salons, nail salons, pose a special problem. I don't know what the solution is.

But, if half the nation gets the virus, not many people are going to be going to salons, so, you tell me what the solution is.

As for civil rights, is a policeman, stopping you on the road, commandeering your car for the purpose of catching a criminal ( because his car was disabled )
is he violating your rights? They do this. It's called posse comitatus.

Your rights are limited, that is the point.

yes because they had no immunity unlike the Europeans which accumulated an immunity because of the centuries of exposer

No, in the example you gave my rights would be violated.

    That is the point.

No one is advocating for herd immunity as a first choice. Obviously a safe and functional vaccine would be the first choice.

The reality is that herd immunity is likely to be the only choice since even a fast-tracked vaccine will take at least 6 months, and then it may not be safe or effective. That does not take into account production and distribution time. What is not realistic is for the 40%-60% of the people who were forced to sit home in April to continue sitting at home for another 6 months at minimum.

The plan is to go slowly and cautiously, so that we don't overwhelm the health system. The goal was always not to run out of hospital resources so that we don't have excess deaths due to lack of medical service over whatever percentage of the population the virus will eventually take out.

Dealing with reality may be painful, but it is not dumb.

China has been experimenting with bat-sourced SARS viruses since at least 2003, knowing it was a matter of time before another was loosed in the world. They don't have a vaccine developed. What does that tell you about how difficult it is to just quickly whip up a recipe for a working vaccine?

Guessing 42 million deaths was a pretty amusing wild stab in it's prepostery.

If 10,000 people died every day (which the mortality numbers have never hit that high), it would take 4,200 days for 42 million to be killed. That's 11.5 years. Allow a minor adjustment for leap years.

Global: It would take over 15 years to hit 42M at 7,500/day.

That's my point, there won't be any vaccine so our world will have to work around this new virus and it will.

Maybe we should have a system in place thats not so fragile that people cant take a few months off of work.

Not to totally downplay Covid but the main takeaway I have from this is how fragile the American economic system is, and what would happen if it was faced with a real disaster.

Also that lady wouldn't face that choice if there was rent freezes during this.
