Real people own those rent houses and businesses and many of them depend on that for their living. It would be like the government ordering you to work with no pay.

 

Yeah, that would be great as soon as banks forgive the mortgage payments, cities/counties forgive property taxes, insurance companies forgive premiums on rental property and just pay for a new roof out of kindness, and repairmen like A/C guys and plumbers don't charge for their services. Then everyone can live rent free! Utopia!

If rent is enforced as free you're going to have to do all your own plumbing, electrical, heating and AC, and roof leak repair -- or go without such niceties unless you got cash to pay with.
