GOP senators seethe as Trump blows up delicate immigration compromise

Trump had the perfect opportunity to fix the problem with mobs of illegals and 'asylum' fraudsters hitting the border while he was president -- BUT HE DIDN'T!

A lot of us were raising hell that Trump needed to close the border to any more migration except in very rare instances, for an initial emergency 'national security' period of about five years. After Obama had thrown the migration floodgates open in 2014, for Trump to do that in 2017 would have been perfectly justifiable.

But did Trump do that while he had the power of the presidency and majorities in the House and Senate during his first two years? OH, HELL NO! Instead, he decided to spend billions of dollars on a 'wall' that was doomed to be a failure from day-one (and remains so to this day). Oh, BTW, it was a 'wall' that he said Mexico would pay for, so, on top of everything else, he flat-out lied about it!

Now the RINO's and the America-hating Democrats want to cobble together some kind of half-assed, toothless compromise, but out of nowhere, SUDDENLY, Donnie has 'found his voice' on this execrable situation and wants to inject himself into the controversy? Be still, my heart!

 

Because I agree with Biden. I believe in open border.

It’s a bipartisan bill. That addresses the crisis at the border.
And Trump is preventing anything that will secure the border because he doesn’t want Joe to get any credit.
Trump doesn’t want to fix the border issue. He wants the crisis to continue in order to increase his chance of winning in November.

Trump and his followers are now the “open border” crew.

 

But I am surprised. Conservative want to close border as long as I remember. Now that Biden administration want to work with conservative to close border, now conservatives don’t want to close border.

It seems like conservative like open border so they can demonize immigrants and Democrat.

Closing the border by making all the illegals into citizens would forever remove the franchise from Republicans. It is suicide for conservatives and for America. Not that it matters, we are in the death throes and the Texas situation could easily descend into violence.

It's hilarious that you think Trump is strategic. Any strategy displayed by either his campaign or administration undoubtedly came from sounder minds within those organizations. Trump is far too self-obsessed and immature to do any kind of planning, no matter how rudimentary or elementary. As you and the rest of the country have seen, he's impulsive, vindictive, and doesn't ever consider the consequences of his actions(which is why he has multiple court cases). He's not the master politician you think he is. Quite the opposite.

 

According to CNN. How ever, I've seen other sources suggesting that it was far from a "done deal" because of border issue conflicts.

They arent voting for an ideal, or a policy/position, they are voting for the man…..I cant say the word that describes those who follow a man and idolize/cannonize the person and not the policy, because the Mods will take it down

Trump looses to Biden. Trump looses to almost any democrat in the general. His supporters are just louder and more “in your face”, but he isnt that popular in the general. His followers are louder, but their not more

Please make a distinction in your thinking about this latest border travesty between Donald Trump, and the mainstream of observant conservatives. I tried to illustrate some of the differences in my Post #77 (which you had 'liked'). Just to recap... Trump could have circumvented ALL of this Obama/Biden 'invasion' ****, but he didn't.... So, now he wants to 'bitch and complain' about it? No cigar!

Think: Geriatric Joe is going to be president for another whole ****ing YEAR. If we can force him to shut off the migration ****-stream now, even though he's a scum-sucking 'woke' Democrat -- let's DO IT! Half of a loaf is better than starving!

Here is the problem – executive order will not solve immigration problem. Obama’s “Dream ACT” didn’t solve the problem, Trump’s Title 42/ Remain in Mexico and Biden overturning Trump’s EO didn’t solve the immigration problem. EO just kicked the can down the road and make each side feel better about themselves. Only way to solve immigration problem is in congress. But that means “compromise”. Unfortunately neither side willing to compromise.

 

If there's anyone in government who listens to you, then, GO FOR IT. None of those go-along-get-along slimebags listens to a nobody like me, so, I just resign myself to being unnoticed **** under their heels. After a number of decades, you become accustomed to it....

Think about it: neither Republicans nor Democrats is worth the powder it would take to blow them all to hell... so what can we expect when they 'compromise' with each other...? Believe this, if nothing else: when the smoke and fog of all this 'compromise' bullshit lifts, we'll still be getting thousands upon thousands MORE 'migrants' who are working the same old ploys as before. I don't see anything good in any of that for taxpaying American citizens!

It sounds more like Trump is campaigning while Biden and congress are legislating.

We don't even know what the details of the agreement are yet, all we know is the two sides are working together to come to an agreement, and Trump is opposing it. We always talk about putting country first and putting politics second.. well apparently it's admirable to put the latter first.

 

Yes. Thanks to Trump, MAGA is now the open border policy. There’s a chance to fix the issue on a bipartisan basis, and Trump uses his influence to prevent it.

MAGA = open borders.

From this day on, anyone who supports Trump has to own that.
