To clarify my previous post I find my ancestry (Proud Scots btw though American-born) to be a completely irrelevant question Unlike many conservatives I am intellectually American through and through. I find it impossible to let my background completely override my sense of right and wrong and am instead compelled to let most of my actions be determined like Clark Kent on the bases of what I see to be Truth, Justice, and the American Way

Because imo, due to Chinese concealment of the origins of this virus, we now must take actions to discover it ourselves. Some of those actions (cyber/intel/propaganda) will violate China's sovereignty. It is important to be clear to your adversaries on what constitutes a threat, and what you are going to do about it. We should tell the CCP that their actions regarding the origins of this virus pose an unacceptable risk to us. We do not intend to attack you based on this risk, but your actions have forced us to violate your sovereignty in very specific ways in order to determine how Covid came to be.

 

My understanding is we already were monitoring China's actions at this lab in a spirit of International Cooperation to keep tabs on dangerous diseases until Trump decided that anything having to do with International Cooperation, particularly with the Chinese, was beneath America and besides the money being wasted on studying diseases, was far more needed on building the Great Barrier of Bigotry on our Southern border
