The Southern states have the highest percentages of black and Hispanic minorities - so tell me how is a Deep South state like Mississippi, which is 37% black more 'racist' or 'backward', than say a left-leaning state like Massachusetts, which is only 6% black? That'd mean Mississippi is actually way more diverse than Massachusetts is.

I think that too when I see a liberal tout a state like Mississippi which is nearly half-black as a "bastion of white racism", while simultaneously upholding a state like Washington or Mass which are less than 1/10th black as some type of progressive Mecca of tolerance and diversity.

If those states are so racist, why aren't blacks flocking to Washington or Massachusetts by the droves?

Since someone can be accused of being a racist if they don't believe in affirmative action to balance racial equality---I would say that Vermont, MA and those other very liberal states are very clearly racist for not creating policies to draw blacks to their state.

They could come up with all sorts of incentives....but apparently they want to keep their white neighborhoods. Or....perhaps the problem is something more insidious. Are those states somehow unwelcoming to black families? Its a valid question! They should look into it. Or maybe we should have a....federal investigation...to look into it to make sure civil rights are not being breached.

That seems a little high for you honestly.

How about a mass pilgrimage? Why hasn't every black person in Mississippi migrated to a progressive Mecca like Massachusetts, and then all of those racist plantation owners and Klansman, who beat and lynch blacks on the streets on a daily basis, will have nothing left to lynch?

While most white Mississippians don't encourage the presence of blacks still some don't have a problem with it. Yes the south still probably harbors a lot of racial tension even from long ago, (and believe me it does I live here) when it boils down to it, racial tension is everywhere you go, it just may not be as subtle in the south and may be more out in the open here but it is still every where you go. However, the left simply uses racism as a took to paint a bad picture of conservatives as a whole when really they are the racist party. Start listening to more Rush Limbaugh, hannity and even some beck. Though these guys are in the mainstream media they still do a great job at pointing out the racial hyprocrocies of left, especially glenn becks program. Another fantastic tool is mrctv.org. Start listening more and you will learn.

The perception is one based in the history of the south. Now while accepting the fact that the south has come a long way since the 1960's we would do a disservice to the truth to pretend that a greater number of blacks, and Hispanics has historically been proof that the South has been more friendly to those groups. That said there is a certain under current in race relations in the South today which is not necessarily a bad thing. That being that southerners of all races tend to be more likely to claim that there are differences between people of different races.

Northern liberals tends to see this as self segregation. Southern liberals seem to see it more as recognizing, preserving, and indeed celebrating each race's unique history, and culture. It can be bad thing when one develops disgust for those differences rather than embracing them along with the similarities inherent in all human beings. Hopefully though with continued evolution that view will continue it's long decline to being the exception which it now is to being just an oddity of history. I do however hope that in some way in can hold onto it's own unique perspective that gives the region it's charm without the bigotry or malice that has lingered far too long.

Easy - the least educated states are the most racist. You can overlay a map of education levels with a map showing where school segregation was the law and they match up.

Are you saying blacks are the most racist? Seeing as the lowest education rates are among blacks, and therefore bring the state average of the Southern (the most black) states down.

Blacks are migrating back to the south from the North....this has been going on for quite awhile.

The problem with any discussion regarding racism is that most have no idea of the true meaning of the term...the original definition of the word. The term 'racism' has been politizized....the republicans, the pc republicans and the conservatives allowed the democrats/leftists and socialists to define the term....big mistake and White Folk have been paying big time for that mistake for years now.....If I were to tell you the total amount of money spent on trying to upgrade negroes none would believe it....all these efforts to bring the Africans up to par was based on a fallacious idea...made possible by the liberal definition of racism.

You make some good points but overall I disagree with your pc conclusion.

As a Southerner I can tell you that most would just be happy if the Negroes obeyed the law.....most of their violence however is directed at their own kind...the black on black violence is akin to what is happening in mexico...but swept under the rug...few know about it and even fewer care about it....thinking the problem is eliminating itself.
