I liked Ron Paul until I heard he supports gay marriage.

Noooo, that would be you, insisting on marriage for gays. You ramming down our collective throats your morality that views homosexuality as an equal alternative to heterosexuality. Your morality that views biological parents as having no advantage to the wellbeing of children. Your lorality that sees homosexuality as a

desirable alternatives to a sexuality harnessed to reproduction, love based on addictive or co-dependent relationships, and the rights and obligations of traditional marriage. The separation of sexuality from procreation entails its freedom from heterosexuality and its emergence as an individual attribute, something individuals can develop, enjoy, change or project as part of their changing definition of the self. Sexuality becomes plastic because the self itself has broken the bounds of traditional institutional expectations and it is now free to constitute and reconstitute itself in a series of narratives answering to nothing else but the growing freedom of individuals to develop their potential

Both have a choice to whether they commit rape or adultery (their actions). They do not have a choice as to whether they WANT to commit rape or adultery (their feelings). If they didnt feel the urge to commit rape or adultery, it wouldn't be an issue, right?

You are claiming that homoseuxals are lying when they say that they have no control over their attraction to the same sex. I am asking you how you determined that.

That is factually incorrect as well as incredibly retarded. Your personal opinion of someone else's feelings and urges is not correct by default. Obviously they will know more about their own feelings and urges than you do.

I disagree. You make a conscious choice to go after or reject people for sex. Orientation is part of that choice

After decades of research I assume it is a choice since science has tried to prove otherwise and failed

Then you clearly don't have a grasp of how the law works and what marriage actually means. That or you're comparing gay people to dogs...

We present the winner of the apples and kumquats award.

Attraction and action are two different things. Who you're attracted to you don't have control over. But you do have control over what you do about it.

So no, rapists and pedophiles are not "born that way".

Um...what does that have to do with what i just said?

Ah...so you are saying it is not a choice for you. How interesting.

That appears to contradict your earlier claim that homosexuality is a choice.

Yes, I totally agree that homosexuality should be established and accepted as but another variant of human behavior, and enshrined into the law as such - put on a par with heterosexuality. That's what I believe and will continue to believe as I really don't see the harm in doing so, and I see benefits for society as a whole due to it furthering the goal of freedom itself. It should not matter which gender you're attracted to or want to marry as long as there is love and commitment. I believe absolutely in rewarding such relationships in the same way we reward opposite sex couples regardless of their ability to procreate with one another. And yes, separation from procreation is essential for freedom to truly exist - I don't believe such an idea will harm society in way, shape or form since homosexuality represents a small minority who appear to have it "ingrained" in them, but them being a minority does NOT and will never as far as I'm concerned diminish their rights as citizens and equals. I see allowing marriage equality as being tantamount to the evolution and "coming of age" of our way of life. This evolution can't in my view happen without it, for it feels like we are making people second class citizens for no good reason at all.

There are some who believe marriage oversteps the government's role.. I don't. People are ASKING for government intervention in their relationships. Don't like it? Don't get one. It's about rewarding commitment between couples who form the heartbeat of a stable society and creating a sense of well-being for EVERYONE... it should be open to any combination of the genders who love each other. You may deny love, an emotion, as having any legal basis within marriage, but I believe it to be essential to a stable society, as it's probably the most amazing and beautiful societal phenomenon that bonds us and sets us apart from the animals. You are welcome to say that I'm appealing to emotion, but the Constitution does say "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", and what is happiness but an emotion? Social well-being is a government interest, and for same-sex couples marriage holds the key. Time to stop discriminating and consider people other than ourselves. It's easy, after all, when you're in the majority to take your rights for granted.

Some bisexuals do that. Probably because when they are in a relationship with someone it's more appropriate or practical to suppress the reality of their orientation - or simply hide it - for social reasons and/or fear of their partner being less trustful of them, sad as that may be.

Actual orientation is based on a scale/spectrum in my view, with biological influences forming the basis and environmental factors having the ability to influence it (but IMO not a great deal post-puberty). People identify with the "side" they are closest to - although most people naturally gravitate more toward the heterosexual side as this urge has a greater biological and social "pull" than whatever causes a desire towards the same sex. It's certainly not a choice to have those - but people can choose to call themselves what they want.

I do believe though that a "gay" person is indeed homosexual for practical purposes if the vast majority of their attraction is towards the same-sex - same with straight people.

Then that also applies to gays. After all Rapists and pedophiles can not control their attraction. That is what you claim about Gays Right?

rapists and pedophiles are not comparable to homosexuals. rapists and murderers violate the rights of others. homosexuals do not.

Yes. The reason rapists and pedophiles are not analogous to homosexuals is because they cannot indulge their urges without violating the rights of someone else.

By contrast, homosexuals do not harm anyone else. That is why they are different.

If you can't tell the difference between rape/pedophilia and consensual sex...you shouldn't be allowed around children.

Let's call a spade a spade shall we.

Gays want the title "marriage" so they can get tax breaks and take a wizz on the Bible's forbiddence of same sex mingling, at the same time.

This is reall what it's all about. Going against God.

Now I know some of you will say "but I don't believe in God so it doesn't matter", but in reality, whether or not you believe or disbelieve in God is what really doesn't matter. God's not going away because YOU don't believe in him. not like He's a figment of imagination no matter how much people try to place him there in their minds.

The problem with all that is...

    1) Separation of church and state - the US is not a theocracy and had no obligation to respect the "laws" of the Bible.

    2) "Marriage" has been a legal term for centuries conferring legal rights and legal benefits, separate from any kind of religious ceremony (they're optional and have no real bearing on the law or one's ability to get married)

    3) While the US is a predominantley Christisan country the majority now support same-sex marriage, indicating a lot of Christians have no problem with it.

God may not be "going away" (that's not at all the aim) but neither are gay people and the two are not mutually exclusive, since even some churches welcome gays and bless same-sex unions. Many gays are practising Christians who interpret the Bible differently. Very few interpret it LITERALLY anyway (else you have to think the earth was created in 6 days and man co-existed with dinosaur!)
