Yes, there is more to humans than sex drive but for someone who has none it's hard to imagine the power of sex drive.

The fact is , right or wrong, humans will continue to have sex wisely and unwisely as they have since their beginning and saying , "just stop" has NEVER worked.

HOW does a man have a say in abortion? I said, YES, he can have a say but that certainly doesn't mean a woman has to accept what he says.

The woman can just ignore his say....in reality it means nothing, he is NOT the pregnant one...YOU want him to decide if the woman should remain pregnant or have an abortion. WHY should the man have the power to tell a woman to get an abortion if he SAYS she should...YOU don't get that it works both ways!

It IS responsible to end a pregnancy when the woman does not want, and/or cannot, afford a kid. It's irresponsible to bring a child into the world you don't want or can't afford.

Now, I do agree that the woman should discuss with the father of the child the situation. If he wishes to have the child, she should take that into consideration of course. However, as you say, the ultimate decision belongs to her because SHE is the one who will be taking all the risks, and if he leaves her, she is the one who will be left to care for the child.

I wonder what he thinks about it if it were the other way, the man does NOT want to support a baby and she decides to have the child anyways? Perhaps when he returns, we should ask him about that? Should he be forced to pay for a child he doesn't really want?

I am more entertained with how the uterus has a spokes person that is not biologically attached telling women and others what to think.

Even couples that want a child often opt for an abortion. Sex selective abortions are becoming more popular, they wanted a boy, but she's having a girl. No problem. Off to the abortion clinic and try again.

Genetic markers revealed from testing for fetus abnormalities often lead to an abortion. 90% of the unborn testing for down's syndrome are aborted. It's not all that far down the slippery slope that other "less than perfect" attributes will be selectively culled from the herd through abortion.

Essentially designer babies, keep trying until we get the perfect one...the others get incinerated as they are deemed unworthy of life.

Actually there are people who think to make things fair men should be able to opt out of having a child just as women do. But that's another topic.


What the poster we're discussing does NOT think about is what it means to have a man have a "say"...the poster does not take into consideration the that the man may say," Have an abortion"....so then is the woman supposed to have an abortion, maybe against her will?

Please provide some evidence that sex selection abortions are occurring in this country. Of course, some gender specific genetic diseases would justify a few sex selection abortions.

These days no one can afford to have more than 2-3 children, so it's not surprising that they want and need healthy children. If families had a dozen children, you could rely on several of them to provide care for a handicapped child after parents are unable to provide care. With only a few children, it becomes more of a burden, and it's really unfair to saddle your children with that responsibility. Refusal to bring a child into the world that will always need special care doesn't lead to "designer babies." That's fact.

 

Most of that is nonsense but do you really want seriously defective fetus to be brought into the world just to suffer? I think people who abort them are compassionate and kind and they think of what that poor prospective child will suffer......but YOU don't.

Why stop with just those in the womb? Couldn't your approach be applied to newborns too? Sometimes they don't find out a child has autism until 3 years of age...

Lots of responsible people get pregnant...even the ones using birth control...responsible people don't bring unwanted kids into the world especially if they can't afford them....
