I am probably reasonably well qualified to answer on this one. I work in the DRC and often stay in Uganda. As a result i am briefed regularly and in depth with regards to thesecurity situation past and present and both countries are still having issues with the LRA.

The reason the USA is supporting the chase of the LRA is that this was one of the key groups that caused the long war in the region that resulted in the deaths of millions.

Second it is fairly simple. The USA was invited in by the Ugandan goverment to provide and advice and support.

The only thing i would add is that the troops who have gone could have done a better job at keeping a low profile. They were in the building next to me in Entebbe 2 weeks ago and the late night BBQ with blaring music and the locals queing to sell them beer probably wasnt a good idea.

About a decade ago...a rather dull, yet incredibly powerful man, declared WAR on TERRORISM.

Most Americans supported this idea at the time...but righties seemed to be the most supportive.

The results were a disaster...America managed to about destroy 2 countries that really had nothing to do with 9/11...as countries are not really TERRORISTS.

Soon we heard battle cries to "Kill All Muslims!" and so on...it was getting outta hand. America had forgotten...as if they ever really knew...that Muslims are not TERRORISTS...TERRORISTS are TERRORISTS...regardless of race or religion.

Evidently Rush and his followers...in an IMMENSE exhibition of intellect...have shown that the distinction is much to complex for them to grasp.

These LRA pukes are no better than AlQaida. In fact...they may be worse. Either way...they are MOST CERTAINLY...TERRORISTS! But they are Christians...of a sort...so Limbaugh and his addled groupies defend them.

IMO...this says less about the reason-ability of a WAR ON TERRORISM...than it does on the grasp of reality that these violent war-clowns have.

It all goes back to one common denominator...EDUCATION...which is still saddly lacking in the USA.

Would you prefer he/she did not work in the DRC and made no comment? I guess that would be more 'convenient' for you...Perhaps it would be even more convenient if there were no opposing viewpoints on this forum, then you and all your conservative buddies could slap each other on the back, in perpetuity.

Rush is probably much like Pat Robertson. Support a Christian group no matter how barbaric they are, as long as they are against a Muslim group.

Robertson had no problem supporting Charles Taylor in Liberia, and that wasn't even about religion as much as it was about profitting from diamonds.

 

LRA's version of Christianity is not something any Christian would recognize..

 

apparently they are christian because they follow the ten commandments ... well, in theory ... in practice, its a different story.

 

They are machete happy killers.. and they have been hacking their way back and forth across central Africa for two decades.

Rush is an idiot.

 

Rush isn't stupid. He knows his audience and was intent on painting the contrast of Obama supporting Muslim's against Christians. That was the whole of his motive. His job is to foster division and he does it extremely well.
