This is your hyper-partisan intolerance and prejudice speaking - and nothing more.

How do you know he hasn't already had the virus?

They'll deny it had anything to do with this. They can't even admit this is worse than the seasonal flu. Facts were never part of the equation. Deaths could reach over 100,000 and they'd still be claiming that they were miscounted and that nothing is wrong. They can't even acknowledge the current death toll.

How would you know that already having the virus would mean that you can no longer spread the virus? We hope this is true, but it hasn't been proven yet, and there is some evidence that those who have recovered from the virus can contract it again.

About opening up the economy and preventing a depression, yep it won.

The deaths and devastation from a depression would make C19 look like a birthday party. And it would effect millions and millions of more people.

People are going to lose everything unless we reopen the economy. It’s not a opinion, it’s fact. Pick a evil to face head in, C19 or a depression those are you choices. I’ll pick C19, no question about it.

I do hope I have already had it. That would be great news.

No one on here said nothing is wrong.

What has been said is in regards to the over inflation of this to the point the cure is multiple times worse than the disease.

The reaction from fear which lead to a economic shutdown across the world which will lead to a death toll much greater than C19 ever could. And instead of killing 80 year olds it will kill 80 years old and 8 year olds. The truth is not always pleasant, or easy to admit but that is the truth. Famine and war will be the results of this shutdown.

We did not save lives, we just pushed the Grim Reaper in a different direction. Traded saving the elderly for the lives of the young. The sad thing is the elderly will be part of the carnage to come as well so in the end this shutdown did nothing but cause more death across the board.

We've had several people on the forums who have denied the facts on the extent of the disease, and many still claim it is no worse than the seasonal flu. It is killing more than just 80 year olds. The truth is not always pleasant or easy to admit, but it is the truth. Please accept it. Take a look at countries who were capable of addressing this without your own inflated predictions of mass famine. Start with Taiwan. They saved lives. There was no Gugglestxpocalypse. Please come to the side of facts.

    My inflate predictions?

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cn...coronavirus-famine-un-warning-intl/index.html

“He cited conflict, an economic recession, a decline in aid and a collapse in oil prices as factors likely to lead to vast food shortages, and urged swift action to avert disaster.”

Read the news before you ask me to relate to “facts”

So remember your stance on this shutdown while you hear about children starving to death or being killed in regional conflicts.

And don’t be foolish, it’s not a debate that this virus is taking the vast majority of its death from the elderly. You know who it is not killing in any measurable numbers? Kids.

They can safely rule out being on the top of the list for anything they might need from the State?

Seriously, as long as they follow safety guidelines and they've had zero reported cases, I'm fine with this...

Inslee in Washington has that policy (upon request) and I assume other states do as well...

You know what they say.... As goes Modoc County, so goes the USA....

You mean why can’t the fear mongering reach us?

Because we are rational adults who can make tough decisions about saving the economy instead of hiding in our houses fearing a .1% chance to die.

I would ask why are they fear mongering? But I won't.You say save the economy, I say you can't save the economy if everyone is sick, blah blah blah. We've seen this song and dance lots of times by now. I could ask you for more reasons. You'll just try to defend it with something like "the rate of death is exaggerated, the hospitals near me aren't full, there are no cases near me, the Wuhan Virus is just a political weapon" or something else. As far the experts are concerned, this is a serious threat. It's killed a lot of people. But I won't ask you about that. The reason why is an effect where people try to rationalize bad decisions. Like you got a car that's a little too expensive and you have second doubts about it. You have to justify the bad decision. Happens to all of us.

What I want to know is what is fear mongering to you? Your language reflects in-group and out-group mentalities. Why?

    1) because you know that you could have it and be asymptomatic. therefore every time you go out you risk spreading it to others, and do so in full knowledge of what you're risking (to others).

    2) your personal responsibility is to AVOID SPREADING THE VIRUS - that's number one. number two is to avoid catching it. the rights of others are impacted every time you go out your door without a mask, and without knowing whether or not you're a carrier.

    3) I'm not the one whining like a spoiled child about not being able to go out and play. I'm putting up with the boredom and stresses and loss of income etc, so that my country stays on the path to suppression of the virus. That way we ALL win.

    4) Your country is 'waking up'? As in America? Confidence is always good, but it's important to measure it against reality on occasion - just to ensure we're not losing our grasp. We'll put this last comment of yours down to a flirtation with denial, shall we?

    Very true.

A tragedy that it happens when the cost is so high, though.

You are NOT hiding from a 0.1% chance of death (glad you're so sure about your own tolerance of the disease, though) - you are PROTECTING OTHERS from yourself.

That's the problem. ANY of us who are currently fit and well could have it, and not know. The only way we'll know is when antibody testing is readily available. Until that time, we have to assume we're a risk to our communities.

And we try to rationalize why it happened even though we lack information.

I think it's incredibly difficult for some of us to be angry at our own nation, and nothing will move us to it .. not even wholesale death.

Essential is no longer a requirement. The curve has been flattened. Time to get America up and running.

It's time to ask why are 55% of the deaths in the three states of NY, NJ, and MA. Why does 11% of the population have 55% of the deaths, and why would the other 47 states need the same prophylactic measures as those three states.
