Christine Blasey Ford will air her allegation of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh, and Kavanaugh will defend himself, as the nation watches Thursday's extraordinary Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee will attempt to convince majority Republicans to confirm him despite Ford's allegation that he assaulted her as a teenager -- and as other accusations of sexual misconduct emerge from Kavanaugh's youth.
The hearing will start at 10 a.m. ET, with Ford testifying first, followed by Kavanaugh.

I know there will be a thread posted for comments during the hearing... I hope this is it

    Comment away..

I'll start.... Dr. Ford needs to get the hair out of her face.... awkward....

EDIT - Ooops, need a question - What's going to happen today??

After she testifies, can she be questioned? (cross examined?)

There is one negative from Ford's previously submitted statement. She said that she is speaking because it is her civic duty. That bothers me. That in my way of thinking is a nagative but by itself not fatal.

So let's see what else runs out of this.

Just doing what Grassley did.... setting up the 2 sides to the story.... No surprises here.... although Diane certainly doesn't make the speaking mistakes Chuckie does...

    No, you really didn't....:)

Don't want to derail my own thread, but I was going to try and follow the Rosenstein meeting today as well, but it's now being reported it might be pushed back a day so everybody can watch this hearing... Just FYI if anybody has updated info on that.

Listening to her testimony, I believe that she is terrified. She sounds like she is on the verge of tears with every line.

Why do you think so? Don't citizens have a civic duty to participate in the political process so that all factors can be considered on any particular issue? I may not agree with this particular dog and pony show, but to say that it's a negative to have a civic duty is misguided IMO

I agree with Cubed asking this question. How is her testimony "because she believes it is her civic duty" a negative?

Senator Feinstein praises Ted Kennedy. A man who left a woman to die in his car he ran off a bridge. #metoo

“My heart goes out to his wonderful wife Vicki and to his family. He was a colleague, an inspiration and a friend. Ted Kennedy dedicated his life to ensuring that America would be a better place. A better place for the poor, for children, for seniors – a better place for all Americans.

I have had the distinct honor of serving on the Judiciary Committee with Ted Kennedy for 17 years, and have seen up close and personal his dedication to issues of civil rights, human rights, and basic fairness to all. He is irreplaceable, and leaves shoes that are so big that it will be difficult for a mere mortal to fill them.”

I would be terrified too, but the fact that she thought she could put forth these accusations anonymously begs the veracity of her claims. There are so many inconsistencies in her story along the way and those continue today. Her testimony is so political that it is ridiculous. She should be testifying about what happened in 1982, not what is happening to her today.

I'm going to be completely honest here.....

I do believe her story. I do believe this happened to her. My question is was in fact Brett Kavanaugh? There is another man claiming it was him and he has swore under oath and knows the details. I don't believe she is lying about her attack.

Testifying under oath has a tendency to terrify some people.

That's all part of establishing the victim narrative.

She wrote a letter in July. She is now asked if it is accurate and has to read it? And now she gets to revise it?

As others have said, I think the key element of her story is putting another boy in the room and naming him as well... that's highly unusual..

Grassley is just pointing out what's going to be the problem here... It's going to be very hard for Mitchell to do her job 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off...

I also picked up on her saying she wrote it while traveling to Delaware. Doesn't she live in CA and claims she can't fly, that's why this was held up? It's a very long way from CA to DE.

    Did I hear that right?
