Lots of banned members...

What's going on? I am seeing a ton of regular posters being banned, lately. I don't mind seeing leftist drones biting the dust, but after seeing that Travis Bickle got banned, I started to wonder what he did that got him axed? He was a good member.

 

I'll give you a hint:

and the mods here are tolerant so anyone banned likely had it coming....

 

there's suspended banned, then there's perma-banned. Travis prob racked up enough infractions to get a vacation. it will wear off. short of being a sock puppet or spamming, i don't think anyone's been perma-banned since i joined without asking the mods to do it.

 

People get banned because they either broke the rules, or they are a sock.

Don't want to get banned? Then behave.

 

I don't get this. You join a debate forum, and then don't mind seeing people who disagree with you get banned? That's just stupid; you the heck are you supposed to debate with?

Are you kidding? The guy broke just about every rule on the forum over and over. He insulted members, circumvented the foul language filter, trolled, flamed, publicly commented about specific members, etc. Not that I'm against any of this (if you're good at it). He made me laugh often.

how i've gotten this far with just a pair of warnings (*bogus ones at that!) never ceases to amaze me.

*calling someone lazy when they're demonstrating it isn't a personal attack, it's an observation, and how can someone that claims to have never seen a cartoon be offended by being called Elmer Fudd? that just tells me they're a liar.

 

Those whose brains are ruled by primitive animal emotion primarily driven by anger against a perceived enemy social class, are more prone to be insulting in their speech and tone to perceived members of that enemy social class.

That and for the average liberal around America, the promise that was Camelot 2009 turned out to be a Circus Sideshow and now the greatest fear in all the world, Republican resurgence to actual control in the Government, is an absolutely terrifying possibility for them and their world is collapsing. We might see mass emigrations from America if the GOP gets control of the Government again. There were a few after Bush's reelection in 2004.

 

Still it ain't too done Kool for Posters to ban together.

Let's just face facts..you are a good person.

 

I don't think this rule applies to all of PF posters 'cause sometimes when we have been personally attacked (ad hominem attacks) and in a way harassed, even after reporting it, nothing happened.

 

I think this forum has more bans than other similar forums. If you look at many old threads you will see that many of the posters are now banned.

 

we do try to address all the reports but some-days there are 4 pages of them , we all always playing catch up.

 

we are larger than alot of forums and have lots more members

 

To get banned do you offend the sensibilities of the admin/mods or the other members?

 

read the rules , we can not just make up a reason , all bans and infractions can be disputed and would go before a board of moderators , if the issuing mod is wrong then it will be over turned

 

I'm an out-and-out troll and I've never even been temp-banned.

Too many posters getting banned. Will I get a ban for saying this? You will never have proper spirited debate if posters get banned for minor infringements all the time.

 

You're kidding. I've seen loads of posters who break the rules getting away with plenty and then after a while and much pain in the assery, being infracted. Then being infracted again. And again. And then being banned and coming back. And then being banned and coming back and then being banned and coming back and then being banned, appealing....and coming back. And then being banned...

I don't see what you see. I see really a lot of leeway and opportunity to stop breaking the TOS coupled with a lot of things happening behind the scenes which we don't have to know or care about and which the Mods can't tell us for reasons of privacy. As far as I can guess, half of the people who are banned are total loons who tediously register socks again and again. They've probably only banned 2 people 1000 times each.
