Hopefully my alma mater will make the tournament. St. Louis University. They are not a lock at the moment but more than likely will make it in... I don't see them advancing too far, but Mizzou has a chance to at least crack the elite 8.
I should be rooting for our dreaded cross-town rivals at Richmond, but I'd rather see your Billikens and Temple in the A-10 final. I think SLU's going Dancin' if they make it to the conference final...
Big Red's goin' to the Big Dance!! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBN6T232Ti0"]MASCOT CHALLENGE - BIG RED - YouTube[/ame] LOL - is that the most laughable mascot in college sports, or what?
Last night's conference victors: Sun Belt Conference - Western Kentucky 74-70 over North Texas Horizon League - Detroit 70-50 over Valpo (Detroit's first appearance since 1999) Ivy League - Princeton 62-52 over Harvard Summit League - South Dakota State 52-50 (OT) over Western Illinois
Even though they lost Walker, UCONN surely has enough talent (the Huskies needed Lamb to step into Walkers shoes as a consistent offensive force, which I don't think he did) to: a) have had a better year & b) make noise in the post season. After today's win over UWV, maybe they are ready to make that noise. Guard play usually dominates in the tourney and if Napier, Lamb & Boatwright(freshman) step up, this team is capable of some very good things.
Three more teams headed for the Big Dance: Big Sky - Montana 85-66 over Weber State Northeast - Long Island-Brooklyn 90-73 over Robert Morris Patriot - Lehigh 82-77 over Bucknell
ACC Tourney starts today!!! Should be a good one!!! I fully expect Duke-UNC III to happen, but FSU is around, and they always make me nervous...lol LET'S GO DUKE!!!
Good luck, RP! One team in the ACC that took me by surprise this year is Virginia. Mike Scott has been The Man for the Cavs - I just wonder if his supporting cast can step up when teams start double and triple-teaming him. I don't see them getting past Duke, UNC and FSU. Speaking of Florida State, they are a scary team - I wouldn't want to face them in the Big Dance. I thought FSU was the toughest team VCU played on its run to the Final Four last year...
Preciate it!!! I don't know what it is, but, when it comes to teams from North Carolina (mainly referring to Duke and the tarholes), FSU almost always seems to have our number... Don't know why... Earlier this season, they broke the tarholes down with a 33-point L, then like a week later, killed us w/ a 3 at the buzzer... FSU scares me to death, to be perfectly honest... Hopefully the winner of the MIA/GT game can take them down...
I know Miami can take FSU down - they upset them several weeks ago in Coral Gables (forget about Georgia Tech). It'll be interesting to see if Jim Larranaga can work some of that ol' George Mason magic down in Miami. They got a tough draw in the ACC tournament, though - if they get past FSU they've gotta play the Blue Devils just to get to the final...
Yeah... unfortunately, we took an L to MIA this season too... But, I know we can beat them... FSU is far less predictable...
My team Never make it; Illinois, so I'll be a spectator ... But I will do some betting after I get my brackets together.
Yup - you would have been better off facing UVA, in my opinion. Get a load of this pic of Dickie V at Cameron: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nd-bracket-predicting-winner-of-every-matchup Gotta love fans like that...
Get outta here, Cig - my brother went to Illinois. In fact, he got married in Champaign - it was one of the craziest weekends of my entire life...
Best fans in the world... Cameron Crazies are awesome!!! Unless you're on the other team, of course...lol
Hard to argue with that - I can't think of a crazier venue in all of college basketball. Looks like Maryland over Wake at the half (36-31). That's probably going to be the best game of the day. Bold predictions: ACC Tournament 2012: Underdog Teams That Will Pull off Upsets http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...2012-underdog-teams-that-will-pull-off-upsets Fugetaboutit...
UConn has now pulled ahead of Syracuse, after trailing at the half... but it's far too close still to tell...
Oh well, UCONN gave it a ride. At the end, they fell apart offensively. No movement, just standing around dribbling. Lamb was a no show. Disappointing because that was definitely a winnable game.
Tough loss, arjay. Sounds like Syracuse might be ripe for another upset in the Big Dance. Anybody remember when Richmond knocked them off in '91? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/gallery/featured/GAL1167475/14/16/index.htm
Maryland crushed Wake 82-60 and the Wolfpack is starting to do the same thing to BC (41-26)... *spank*
