I cracked up the first time I saw you refer to UNC as the "tarholes". It reminds me of a similar nickname we have for Florida State that I dare not repeat here...:b0x0rz:

Which sets up an interesting re-match with UVA at 2pm (Cavs won the first tilt 61-60 in Raleigh).

So, whaddya think of the Duke-Va Tech match-up tonight, RP? The Hokies have played you guys pretty tight in the past...

Sure is. One thing Va Tech has going against it - and I suspect that it will catch up with them against Duke again - is their consistent inability to finish close games. Last night ESPN ran a highlight reel of all the close games they lost this year (about half a dozen) - it's no wonder Seth Greenberg doesn't have any hair left to pull out of his head...

Too funny - Joe Lunardi already has a bracket up for the NCAA Tournament. Talk about getting ahead of yourself...

    http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

I did find this interesting, though:

Out of all these teams, the only one I've followed is Drexel, who won the CAA regular season title and lost to VCU in the CAA tournament final by 3 points. I think they definitely deserve an at-large bid. They've got a big front court and a fine young guard in Frantz Massenat.

Aside from their front court (arguably the best in the CAA) what impressed me about the Dragons is the way they can quietly and efficiently roll over teams (they've got a real good half-court offense). One minute you're tied with them, and then before you know it, they're up by 10 on you. They definitely can compete with a lot of the teams in the power conferences, although they'll have a tough time with fast-paced, transition-game teams that thrive on guard play like VCU or the big elite teams that can match their size up front...

Looks like the #1 seed in the A-10 just bit it:
    UMass 77 Temple 71

That'll knock someone off the bubble.

UNC and Michigan State advance in their respective tournaments, LSU up 5 over Kentucky early in the 2nd half...

    Bubble Watch:

EDIT: Kentucky takes the lead on LSU. Good night Tigers...

The refereeing was disjointed, to put it politely, but N.C.St. had their chances. Throwing the ball out of bounds, missing free throws & turning the ball over, all late in the game, didn't help their cause. Oh well, lets go FSU! I gotta root for the U-Dogs!:dog:

I tend to not do too much complaining about who does or doesn't make the tourney, or seedings & such(maybe I'm just overly grateful that unlike football, the champ is decided on the field of play), but I do have some at 1st glance observations/complaints: Why does Duke, as a #2 seed, get to play in Greensboro? It seems like they always get to play near home, no matter their seeding. IMO, Missouri should of been a #1 over N.C. - better record & they won their conference tourney.
I'm a little disappointed that Drexel didn't make it, but, oh well, win your tourney next time.
I still like Kentucky to win it all.

I thought Drexel got screwed - there's no doubt in my mind that they would have been very competitive in this field.

Mizzou is a great team - they certainly could have been seeded #1. The #2s in this tourney could make a lot of noise.

An interesting note - only 1 of the 4 top seeds (MIchigan State) managed to win their conference tournament. I can't remember the last time that happened...

PS. Your boys made it in, arjay. That was a shocker, IMO...

If FSU wasn't the story of the weekend, I don't know who was. Kinda reminds me of UConn's run through the Big East last year. Like we were saying, they're a dangerous team, especially with all that experience.

PS. What did I say about Syracuse looking vulnerable? I'll be astonished if they make it to New Orleans (and they won't be making it in my brackets)...

St. Louis U made it in, same bracket as Mizzou.

I'm officially done with ESPN and their b.s. bias.

The Big 12 has much better teams than the ACC and that's all they talk about is East Coast teams....

Total bias for the larger TV markets.

And another thing, unrelated to college bb; zero mention of the NHL...it's all the NBA. No coverage of StL Blues hockey or hockey at all.

ESPN is a joke...they pander to larger tv markets...mainly the East coast.

If Mizzou doesn't make it, I'm rooting for Kentucky or OSU.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) the East Coast.

Dear ESPN, not everyone gives a rat's patoot about LeBron James ...or the NBA, or the Big East for that matter. I'm writing your sponsors, your biased coverage of sports is a joke.

    *end of rant*

It's a business and 50% of the population lives in the East Coast time zone...and ESPN panders to that market. The most densely populated corner of the U.S. is between Boston and D.C.

You're more likely to see an interview with an East Coast ball boy than any coverage of sports West of the Mississippi.

It's been that way for years and what's truly a joke is that ESPN denies it...the NY Rangers are playing well, you'd think there would be more coverage of hockey...
