Apologists for the violent criminal, Neely, don't like to mention the fact that he was fresh out of jail for sucker-punching an old woman and cracking her skull. They also don't like to mention the fact that Neely had a warrant out for his arrest after skipping a court date.

    source: https://wpde.com/news/nation-world/...yc-new-york-city-marine-subway-homicide-death

Apologists for Neely just like to pretend that he got "lynched" simply for being black in America, and that the marine is a racist who just likes choking black men to death.

In reality, the ones who should be on trial are the Democrats running New York City. They're the ones who have failed for decades to maintain public safety. Democrats are now acting like Neely was the first black man who ever died in New York City. Yet thousands of black men die in cities run by Democrats every year. Where is all the liberal outrage over that? Rhetorical question: we know they are faking for political gain.

Neely got choked out because he was a violent, suicidal maniac who posed an imminent and severe threat to everyone around him.

This is why we need Good Samaritan laws. To protect people who would risk their own lives protecting people they never met before on a train.

This has nothing to do with Neely being a violent psycho or the marine being a Good Samaritan. This is about Neely being black and the marine being white.

What was he doing on the bus, at that moment, that made the killer want to murder him? Did he know who he was? Did he know he was on the run?

    No?

He's every bit as deserving of the death penalty he handed out with his choke hold.

What NYC has done has put everyone on notice. Do not come to the aid of someone else who is in trouble because you could be sent to prison for some crime.

They have just made the subways even more dangerous to the average person.

No one can force anyone to go into rehab unless through the courts, and courts are very reluctant unless it is determined to meet the decision of whether a person can stand trial or not, the insanity defense for instance.

I also think many people are overreacting based on the limited information available presented to them. We had Trump, for instance, call for the lynching of 5 black teens who were accused of raping a white woman. Turned out, it was not any of them, but the fever by the public was so intense, that the police pretty much presumed they were the ones and did not look at all of the evidence. Eventually, they were redeemed, released, an exonerated. The police knew there was reasonable doubt, but that did not stop the prosecution or the conviction based on highly circumstantial evidence. As with this case, if Neely was a threat to himself and others while on the subway, then I can see why it happened and why he was killed. This is a very difficult case to determine and it is based on the testimony of the Marine as well as others on that subway car. We can play armchair quarterback, but we need all the information presented before we can determine if the Marine acted reasonably or not.

What crap. What was Neely doing on the train? Why, threatening everyone present.

I'm sure the grandma-punching, suicidal maniac wasn't a threat to anyone, and that the marine just loves choking out random black men.

Lynching? Really? Those guys were indicted by a NYC grand jury, charged by a NYC DA, prosecuted by a NYC prosecutor, in front of a NYC judge, and convicted by a NYC jury. Nothing Trump did would have occurred were it not for all the New Yorkers involved.

You’re way out of your lane on that one.

Penny the Marine is ****ed, just like Chauvin was ****ed.
He also ignored (on audio) witness telling him that Neely defecated and he was killing him yet he continued to keep him in a chokehold for a total of 15 min.
The same warning was given to Chauvin and 3 officers which was also ignored and the rest is history.

Penny is a Marine and knows damn well from their hand combat training how to apply a choke hold and that it can cause death, which Penny succeeded in doing.
Neely was UNARMED and did not attack anyone no matter how verbally unhinged his distressed ranting was.
Penny's lawyer portraying him as an American loving Marine who was protecting himself and all those around him from Neely isn't going to fly when a jury sees the video of a trained Marine combat veteran slowly squeezing the life out of a man with 2 other men's assistance.
    It's called death by torture.

"Sergeant Rubin I. Lichtenstein applies a choke hold to Cpl. Christopher Canada during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program training session at Pano Aqil Cantonment, Pakistan, Nov. 6, 2010."

I think it's a fair observation to say the system, and his family, failed with respect to Neely. Also that Penny did not intend to kill him. Which is why Penny is appropriately being charged with manslaughter, not murder. Now it's up to a jury.

I see, so the apologists of Penny's torturing of Neely to death are calling those who believe that Penny should be criminally charged with Neely's death are the apologists not them.

The problem there is that Penny being a trained Marine in hand to hand combat knew all about how deadly a chokehold can be within 2 minutes and he held Neely for 15 mins with the assistance of 2 men,

No the problem here is that Neely shouldn't even have been there. He should have been in jail awaiting trial for attempted murder.

Even if all that is true, the guy who killed him didn't know any of that at the time. The legitimacy of his decisions and actions should be based exclusively on what he saw and knew at the time.

And you're not? The party of (some of) the people in the government of any particular city, state or nation (feel free to switch to whichever targets the party you want to) doesn't automatically mean that those people, or their party in general, are exclusively responsible for the whole range of circumstances that can combine to lead to potentially dangerous individuals being free. The simplistic "your party bad, my party good" argument is meaningless, especially if your party isn't proposing any viable policies to actually address those underlying causes.

I'm not disputing Penny was aware of what a choke hold could do. But I am saying I believe he did not kill Neely intentionally.

But he was black. Leftists don't expect blacks to live by the same standards.

Neely's criminal past holds no legal water pertaining to Penny's killing Neely by holding him in a chokehold for 15 mins.

It's common knowledge to the majority of people that if you cut off someone's oxygen long enough they will eventually die.
Penny knew how to perform a chokehold yet are we to assume that he just thought it wouldn't interfere with Neely breathing and he could carry on until the cops arrived and then he'd go on his merry way?
Penny was warned by the video guy that Neely defecated and he was killing him and remember when George Floyd urinated the female FD medic yelled that he's dying or is dead and Penny, just like Chauvin continued with cutting off their oxygen intake.

Both deaths could easily have been avoided and Penny/lawyer or others claiming that he didn't intend to kill Neely is a fruitless defence.
For some sick reason both Penny and Chauvin could NOT stop even when they were warned by witnesses,

I can't find a source providing information that the chokehold was maintained for 15 minutes. Do you have one?

Please note his currently when he was threatening everyone on the bus are sufficient reason. Did he have pressure on the whole fifteen minutes or did he frequently relax the hold at times. I doubt you can hold the pressure for a full fifteen minutes.
