The governor is ruling by decree. I'm sure we'll see more Democrats doing this.

This is the best part and reveals their intentions...

"The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act because of recent shootings, including the death of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week."

The illegal ban doesn't prohibit carrying a gun in a vehicle, so it wouldn't have stopped this crime.

    Then, this...

"Last month, 5-year-old Galilea Samaniego was fatally shot while asleep in a motor home. Four teens entered the mobile home community in two stolen vehicles early on Aug. 13 and opened fire on the trailer, according to police. The girl was struck in the head and later died at a hospital."

"The governor also cited an August shooting death in Taos County of 13-year-old Amber Archuleta. A 14-year-old boy shot and killed the girl with his father’s gun while they were at his home, authorities said."

The illegal ban wouldn't have stopped those either.

So, this is obviously about harassing law abiding gun owners, not about policing crime.

Liberal policies making a city violent then throw another liberal policy in to disarm the innocent during high crime. That makes total sense.

Creating chaos is the ultimate goal. When chaos reigns, then the totalitarians can issue more decrees.

“The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act because… "

Sounds like a Democratic governor knowingly stepping outside the bounds of their power(s) …. Go figure… who’d have thunk it

Our democratic-corporate paid for media is either going to shill for the governor, or cover up the story of the governor's power grab.

A few things here. NM is a pro 2A state, I can walk into a gun store today and walk out with a handgun on my hip in 15 minutes. The thing is Albuquerque went from one of the best cities in the country to live in to one of the worst and it happened under democrats. The gangs, the illegals, the crime in that city is just crazy.

How does the gov propose to enforce this? I'm sure the thugs aren't going to comply with her order.

I am talking about constitutional items — are any of them absolute.

Let’s take freedom of religion for example, is it absolute?

Yes, they're absolute. There are no banned religions. There are no banned words. Why should there be banned keeping and bearing of arms?

Imagine if a Republican waved his hand and took away your rights on a whim. There is crime in Albuquerque because democrats turned that once great city into a crime infested dump.

Oaths of office are mandated by the Constitution, so speaking of oaths is speaking in constitutional terms.

    Are oaths of office absolute?

No law can actually eliminate a particular type of deed.

Speeding laws don't stop speeding. And, that fact doesn't invalidate speeding laws. Etc.

    You're argument just doesn't work.

And, your conclusion in the last sentence is both ridiculous and unsupported by your prior argument.

A governor can't make law. Her ban violates the Constitution.

    Yes. Quite wrong.

What she did is enact martial law. The problem that is even martial law doesn't grant her the power to suspend Constitutional rights.

This precedent was already set during Louisianan's confiscation of firearms during Katrina.

Leftists interpret "no right is absolute" as "I can do what I want when I want".

They love to quote Heller incorrectly while doing this, citing the fact that there are exemptions.

Those exemptions include felons possessing firearms, mentally ill, etc. Those people have had their rights revoked after due process.

There is no due process here. She has decided she is a ruler, not a representative.

The Constitution doesn't grant the people of Nevada the right to bear arms.

The Constitution prevents the leftist megalomaniacs in office from infringing on that right.

Not only was what she did infringing on their rights, she's forbidden from doing so.

Then making it illegal to have a gun when murder is already illegal accomplishes nothing other than disarming the victims of their voting bloc.

    ?? The OP isn't about a law.

It is about an emergency action taken due to significant increase in gun violence.

What made you confuse "LMAO" with being "confused?" (It stands for: Laughing My Ass Off).

    EDIT:

I'd found Steve's post humorous due to his-- and if you note the words that I'd highlighted (by enlarging, bolding, and colorizing them), you can follow along, with this explanation--
complaining that the crime and gangs in Albuquerque are "crazy" and blaming this on changes made by the Democrats, after he'd fondly recalled the way things were in the good ol' days, when he could have walked into any gun store, and come out, 15 minutes later, packing heat.

...The funny part, is his making no connection, between the prior, super-easy access to weapons, and the current craziness, in crime & gangs.

    ...anything?
