It's illegal for people with criminal records and illegals to get guns in this state and Albq is chock full those kinds of people. There are no gangs where I live, I can go to any part of the city any time of the day or night and not have to worry about gangbangers. Now there are a lot of illegals traveling through my city as they travel to Albq and Colorado, but my city is a gun packing city and it's possible the word is out not to mess with people here. Albq has been getting pretty famous in these parts for their criminals - why there and not here?

I used to travel to Albq for meetings and the hotel I stayed at was across the street from a Circle K, then one day they started having an armed guard at the store and when I asked the clerk what the deal is, I was told they're getting robbed too much. When the guard was always there month after month I told my company to start putting me in a different hotel.

@Steve N wasn't talking about the "good old days".
Notice he said "can walk", not "used to be able to walk".

And a criminal can't go to a gun store and buy a gun.

And @Steve N buying a gun has nothing to do with the crime rate, unless one assumes that he has used his gun in the commision of a crime, which I don't. And I'm sure you don't either.

Oh it's funny, it's just at your expense.

Gang members and criminals can't walk into a gun store and walk out 15 minutes later with a gun.

Would you like me to explain it to you?

So you are saying there should be nothing that can stop someone from baring arms? No one is prevented from doing anything as long as they can claim religious belief?

    It's quite easy, actually.

That's why people already in prison are still stabbing each other to death.

If you don't care about the penalty for murder, you don't care about lesser penalties.

Not that democrats charge criminals or put them in jail when they do murder.

They are trying to lol. Y’all are still pushing to end same sex marriage which would strip a ton of rights. Republicans also stripped millions of people of their bodily autonomy.

There are more facts about prison life than you account for.

Not that Republicans put criminals in prison when they attempt a violent overthrow our government.

Yeah. The fact that homicide rates inside prisons are as high as 10 per 100k. The fact that criminals get weapons and drugs even inside prisons.

Which brings us to the fact that criminals will still use guns when told they can't use guns.

    THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM CRIMINALS.

This law will apply to criminals

Or were you saying that any law a criminal will not follow is not one that should be implemented?

Are the people running around killing people in the city supposed to have guns before she "implemented" this?

Are they supposed to be murdering at all?

Do people that want to commit murder, who already aren't supposed to have a gun, not going to either carry a gun or commit murder because it's doubly illegal for them to carry a gun now?

    Leftist logic boggles the mind.

The only person she has disarmed, and illegally at that, are law abiding people.

The only logic needed is we have a massive gun violence issue in this country that isn’t seen any any other developed nation and one side seems to only be wishing to make the situation worse by having more weapons.

Their policies has been shown not to work.

It’s time to do something different and the people are demanding it. I support cities and states implementing policy that they believe will work best for them.

I assume they can't, now. The impression, given by Steve B's description, was that regulations, at the time in question, were minimal and incredibly lax. Would you like me to give you a link to Steve's post-- or do you think you can find it, on your own?

If the reason my post is funny, is because there is an erroneous understanding within it, then the real source of that, is the writer of the post, upon which my understanding is based, not clearly expressing his thoughts.

Not that it matters, because I was laughing at what was written, which comic effect is not contingent upon it being true.

No, there are a lot of crimes that don't involve guns.

And, if you want to increase security in prisons, I'm ready to listen.

Notice, yourself, that he talks about two venues, separately. And notice that the one he refers to, when he "can walk into a gun store today," is NEW MEXICO. However, also notice that the place that he complains about the crime and gangs, today, is specifically ALBUQUERQUE. And notice that, when Steve mentions that city, he says that it "went from one of the best cities..." Thereby, referring to the PAST, when it was one of the best, as opposed to NOW, when it is high crime and ridden with gangs. The inference, is that the laws in Albuquerque, BACK when it was one of the best, were similar to NM laws today, OUTSIDE OF Albuquerque. The implication is certainly that in "Democrats" turning of Albuquerque into "one of the worst" cities, those lax gun laws, from Albuquerque's past, were made more stringent; that is, stricter gun laws in the city today, would represent one of the flaws of the current city, that make it suck, in Steve's opinion.

    Steve N said: ↑
A few things here. NM is a pro 2A state, I can walk into a gun store today and walk out with a handgun on my hip in 15 minutes.

    The thing is Albuquerque
went from one of the best cities in the country to live in to one of the worst and it happened under democrats. The gangs, the illegals, the crime in that city is just crazy.
    <End Quote>

Lastly, note that all of that was one paragraph, which I have merely separated, to make it clearer for you. In it, is a contrasting of the rest of the state, with Albuquerque. The fact that Steve starts it, by talking about how (elsewhere in NM) he can easily get firearms, then talks about Albuquerque back then, when it was one of the best cities in which to live, as opposed to now, when the crime & gangs are rampant, suggests that part of what the "Democrats," have changed, to now make it one of the worst cities, is the easy access to guns. If that implication had not been intended, being all part of the same paragraph, is misleading.

So, if @Steve N can buy a gun, are we to assume that the purchase of that gun means that crime will go up?

Cops have weapons. Do their weapons make the situation worse?
