According to their website: “Occupy Wall Street is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions,”

Some in the movement want to hang (Goldman Sachs CEO) Llyod Blankfein in effigy. lol What's not to like? The protests are happening in Washington D.C. too.

Conservatives, libertarians, Tea Partiers are already involved.

quote: “It’s drawing in everyone across the political spectrum,” he notes, pointing to the range of voices being heard in the media coverage. “They have everyone from libertarians, to liberals, moderates, socialists, and hard-line conservatives,”

    LINK

Right populists and left populists are joining together against their oppressors: crony capitalism, AIPAC, lobbyists - the corrupt rich - big government & big corporations.

End corporate welfare. Put America first - let's stop fighting wars for Israel. Hang Lloyd Blankfein in effigy.

Next step: let's occupy Washington D.C. Some have started already. Tea Partiers welcome.

WTF ever. THE ENTIRE WORLD BORROWED MONEY. PAY IT BACK AND STOP (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ING ABOUT IT!

It is NOT Wall Street's fault that banks want to get paid back the MONEY THEY LOANED.

Do you not understand the concept of a LOAN? Or is a loan only a loan when someone wants to pay it back?

All these "populists" are a bunch of dead beats who are in hock up to their eyeballs because they borrowed money and are now being forced to pay it back and it's "greed" for the banks to force people to adhere to the agreements they made?

In 2004 during the height of the Bubble I NEVER ONCE HEARD ANYONE COMPLAIN ABOUT BANKS BEING EVIL WHEN THEY WERE GIVING OUT TRILLIONS IN LOANS but now they want their trillions back suddenly they are the evil?

WTF kind of thinking is that?

They have a lot in common. They don't think a tiny minority should dictate to our politicians. They think the U.S. should be a democracy. They don't want lobbyists to control Washington. They don't want the trial lawyers and AIPAC and others to hold so much power. They don't want corporate welfare. They don't want to see war profiteers grow fat.

They don't fit it the prevailing left-right dichotomy, but this dichotomy is an intellectual cage we should strive to free ourselves from.

Well to (*)(*)(*)(*)ing bad, we're not a direct democracy we're a Democratic Constituional Republic, which means that there are mechanisms in place to protect economic minorities from the predations of the unwashed masses and their anger.

It's exactly movements like this that make direct democracy untenable, because these people only have a general anger and want to blame anyone at all, and Wall Street is a concept and place easy for them to attack.

They are basically a bunch of a dumb ignorant people looking for a messiah no matter what ideological bent they are.

But Silicon how about all that $$$$$$ the banks got from the government? How about all the corporate welfare that Obama bestows on his allies? As a conservative aren't you outraged?

I'm sure you are disgusted by crony capitalism, by the corrupt big government/big business nexus.

Of course I dislike crony capitalism, but only an idiot would think that the crash of 2008 was something that we should've just let occur.

I mean really, it was bail out the banks, or face a worldwide economic collapse that would've had us begging for depression era conditions. That is the bottom line. There was no choice. This is why TARP was a bipartisan bill. Because everyone with any sense realized the entire world economy was going to implode and reduce us all to 3rd world living conditions.

So while I dislike bailouts, anyone who disagrees with the necessity of them have ulterior motives like they intentionally want the economy to collapse so they can replace it with some other system.

Nonsense. Hardly any of the protesters want to replace capitalism with another system, they just want to finetune it in places where it's going wrong.
When you agreed with bailing out the banks you also agreed with finetuning the system. In a strictly capitalistic system companies including banks would simply go bankrupt if they can't pay their bills. Your company = your profits and your risks.

Now I agreed with bailing out the banks, too. The problem is that they just were allowed to carry on as before: shortselling, bonuses that encourage managers to aim for short term profits rather than long-term well-being of a company etc. etc. They keep the profits, the tax-payer takes over the risk.

Now if I as a taxpayer bailed out the banks I expect my politicians to see to it that I get a return on my money and that the ailing features of the system are corrected. And if politicians side with those few who have enough money to buy them rather than the general public, people should see to it that the politicians are corrected.

Capitalism as an economic system is there to serve the well-being of the people, not the other way around.

That's it? You first thought is hygiene? Dear god but that's deep thinking. Tell you what, why don't you head on down there and hand out some deodorant and soap. Y'know, do your bit for a squeaky-clean, sterile and odour-free America.

Tell you what, when Wall Street and the incompetent, thieving hacks who 'work' there stop screwing up the global economy, people will stop blaming them.
As for being dumb and ignorant; on the contrary these people aren't the meek sheep you'd like them to be and, unlike the rest of America it seems, aren't content to bury their heads in the sand while the greedy, feckless and corrupt laugh all the way to their offshore banks.

You know who else wants that? The TEA Party. 'Cept we're actually trying to fix it, while they're just complaining about it.

How exactly is the TEA-Party trying to fix it, while others are just complaining about it?

    Quite simple.

The primary vehicle of corruption in our nation is the tax code. The Democrats don't want to reform ANYTHING regarding taxation except raising marginal rates. Why?

Because raising the marginal is nothing but political ploy to appease the class warfare whores in the base. Once that marginal rate goes up, Democrats, masters of the back room deal, will lock themselves into a back office and write a million little loopholes for all their corporate cronies. Because at this point, Democrats are really the only ones with corporate cronies. Republicans are simply too fresh. Many of them are just freshmen elected and are still learning how the system works and honestly, turning it upside down in the process.

The Tea Party, along with establishment GOP are the only ones in the nation calling for complete, total and comprehensive tax reform that removes loopholes and tax subsidies and will actually raise revenue. Raising the marginal rate alone is just pissing into the wind in order to fool the sheep so they can loophole in the rich cronies.

That is why I know the GOP is being honest, and the Democrats are not. If the Democrats were really honest they would be joining right up to fight the good fight on tax reform.

As long as Democrats insist on keeping our current tax code with only the most minor of changes by raising a marginal rate, there is nothing to talk about between GOP and Democrats on this issue. The difference is irreconcilable.

Reform the tax code, or keep it exactly as it is now with no raise at all for anyone.

That is the whole point of the GOP and the Tea Party. No more higher marginal rates. If you want more revenues, then you must reform the entire tax code into a simpler, flatter code and yes, poor people and middle class who use all the social subsidies are going to have to share in the sacrifice by accepting a sharply reduced tax return in April.

    Like babies?

Could you imagine if someone dared to try to make these folks pay for things during their protest? Theyre way too smart to be taken advantage of.

I'd snatch her redheaded little ass up at the Police Station and make her sit and write a 2,000 word essay on "Why it's Not Okay to be a Communist In America"

First off, they're a bunch of illiterate narcissists who have joined an astroturf movement to make themselves feel significant. Look at the pictures and tell me that these useful idiots are the cream of American society. They're mostly college kids with unnatural hair colors and no work history to speak of, and a couple of unkempt college professors. It wouldn't shock me if some of them are there for extra credit as well. A few might just be there to party as well.

Call me when a REAL movement breaks out. Or one of these losers does something useful with his life.

Your comment is less than brilliant or impressive. This group is a bunch of loosely connected internet hackers and are under investigation by the FBI. They've breached the CIA's online computers for general public information. They've also attacked major companies including news corporations. They've perpetrated many types of intrusions. They're also under investigation globally including by Scotland Yard.

They are considered a national security threat.

They pass themselves off as harmless pranksters but in fact they are criminals.
    They ARE anarchists.

    Are you one of them?

Why haven't people of color joined the protestors? The protestors are exclusively white.
