I am a Christian and I believe abortion is murder and sin. Abortion is murder is a religious view and not a legal view.

US constitution is silent about abortion. US laws don’t say abortion is murder.

When somebody posts something as ignorant as the post you responded to, you know you've won the argument... No need to give them any more rope...

I am a Christian , and I really don’t care what is wrong in the eyes of an atheist. I only care what is Biblically wrong.

I call it a 'supermajority', and while it's not always the right way to go, in many cases, like Amending our Constitution, which is something not to be taken lightly, supermajorities make complete sense and it would be insane to just allow 50%+1 to impose their will on the 49.99%. It's not fascism, which has nothing whatsoever to do with this topic, it's wise, because democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner! In my State it requires a 60% supermajority to amend our State Constitution, and even with that high of a benchmark, it's still been overdone and abused and our constitution is dozens or maybe hundreds of pages long! I can quote you almost chapter and verse of most of the US Constitution, I haven't even read the Florida one, as I just use it as a reference when the need arises.

This is precisely why I'm pro-choice, despite my right-sounding ideas when it comes to economic matters, but only to the point that measurable brainwaves are present. I'm not the King, nor is anyone as we fought a large war to end that particular type of leadership, but if I was, I would allow abortions for any reason up to 20-weeks (because the average presence of brainwaves is 22, and the extra 2 is to allow for early developers), with exceptions for certain conditions... The health and welfare of the mother, for example. However, those would be pretty limited because 20 weeks is almost 5 full months, and if you can't figure out first that you're preggo in the first place, and then what you want to do about it, don't come crying at 8-months that you've finally decided you don't want to keep your rapists baby. I get that sentiment, truly I do, and if it was me, I would be plan-B-ing and whatever else I had to in order to prevent it ever even going that long to begin with, and there's really no excuse not to. But emerging issues is a different thing.

I am neither christian nor atheist, though what I am exactly is a bit... Complicated. But, I did die once, I saw the other side, or got a glimpse of it would be more accurate, and remember parts of that experience, so I know to an absolute certainty that our consciousness survives our physical death, and that we are in fact small slices of pure consciousness, which is the cumulative total of all of us little slices here on earth, on other planets and habitable places in this Universe, and entire other universes. You could call that a god, but I don't like to use that word due to it's baggage, so I just use "Source" or "Spirit". But it's not some old man with a beard bringing down judgement, and it's not a separate personality... It is us and we are it.

Anyway, I got side tracked in a bit of my complicated, so back on topic... I do not think that a fetus under a certain stage of development is a human in any sense of the word, physcially, mentally, or spiritually, and as such have no issues with early abortions (up to 20ish weeks), but after that, when the brainwaves turn on, then it has become human and should not be aborted except for extraordinary circumstances. Sadly, so many on this issue are all or nothings... They either think destroying unused but fertilized eggs prepared for IVF that are no longer needed is tantamount to murder, or that killing a fetus that is 8 months and 29 days old is perfectly acceptable. I can't abide with either of those positions, but few are willing to compromise about it, sadly. Overall, I can't stand religion, I consider somewhere in between most and all of them cults, especially the western, Abrahamic ones, no matter the flavor, and think religious rules that cannot be justified with secular logic have no place in society. ANY society. But, for legalistic and technical reasons, I also think Dobbs was properly decided. Like I said... Complicated.

Wiser people than you disagree, and I'm on their side. Under a pure democracy, we could reinstate slavery by just convincing the right 268 people to vote in favor of it. On that issue, it's unlikely to the point of impossible, but for less sensitive or controversial issues, I don't want that small of a majority, which word hardly applies, to rule the day, lest the rest of us rue it.

That's all very reasonable sounding. Especially the thing about the eggs, by that logic every time a guy masturbates it would be murder. I'm interested in your NDE. I hope whatever you saw was good. Did you ever write about it? is there a book? (I'd buy it)

For me 5 months is really stretching it except under certain medical circumstances of the mother/fetus.
Women/men should be offered free birth control which would hopefully cut down on unwanted pregnancies.

    This:

'People can use the abortion pill to end a pregnancy until around 10 weeks from the first day of their last period. However, in some cases, an extra dose may be necessary.

A medical abortion, also known as the abortion pill, currently accounts for around 54% of abortions in the United States. It involves taking two pillsTrusted Source: mifepristone (Mifeprex) and misoprostol (Cytotec)."

Then I'm not sure why you'd use that as an example?

And it's MILES beyond the point of this thread, which is Ohioans would prefer a simple majority of their state (which I shall remind you, seems currently Republican) set the rules...

Certainly, they should be able to find SOMETHING to do with that??

Hah, well I've written it up enough times to MAKE it into a book, but I'm not sure I remember enough to fill one up without a lot of repetition. However, PM me and remind me, and I'll write it up again (maybe this time I'll save a copy!) and send it over. I'm not at all shy about sharing, even some of the more gory details, and since it involved death, albeit temporary, there is a bit of that.

I actually think the buybull says something about spilling your seed being sinful, which of course disqualifies every human who ever lived long enough to go through puberty, so there's that...

Oh but they can never CREATE life. They'd like to think they can. They'd like to be God! You take raw matter and make life. You can't! You can't create a single cell from scratch, but you can end it!

You say you are Christian but you want "government to do your work. You are a "statist". You want government to do the work, you just don't want the mention of God in government.

I don't know enough about Ohio to understand why what's happening is happening, and I don't feel like spending the time to figure it out, so I shall remain silent on that. But I am in favor of supermajorities for a lot of things, including some that don't require one now. Here in Florida, it takes 50% to pass a LAW with a voter-initiated ballot initiative, or 60% to make that into a Constitutional Amendment. Many initiative sponsors prefer the Amendment route because if it's just a law, the Legislature can undo it with a simple majority vote, whereas it requires a supermajority to overturn an Amendment, and more, I think. Still, while I have more in common with the Repubs than I do the dems, on this issue I am pro-choice and would be in favor of abortion being legal for the time and reasons I already explained.

But, the more important point I was making is that y'all have overused the term 'fascist' so much that it now means... Nothing. Anything the hard left doesn't like is 'fascist', even when it's not, because y'all haven't a clue what the term even means. Requiring supermajorities in certain cases is not fascism. Period, discussion over.

We also haven't figured out how to travel faster than light. But many scientists and physicists think we're close. We'll also crack the code of life, and the RNA/DNA instruction set is probably the key factor there, but... We'll see.

    Sigh! Once again with feeling.

“Late term abortions” are almost invariably done for foetal abnormality incompatible with life. Look at Canada - NO laws restricting abortion and yet the stats are the same as everywhere else - the vast majority of abortions occur in the first three months of pregnancy

That would make you God. Won't happen. "They'll be Godlike in form but deny the power thereof."

You want Government force your Biblical principle of pro-life to others. But when it comes for government take your money to distribute it to poor, you say “ Government stay away from my pocket”. It sound like you just want government to dictate other people’s lives , just not yours.

You are right, I don’t want “god” in government. Do you want “ god” in government. I don’t think so. I hardly doubt you want “God of Islam / Allah” in US government. I hardly doubt you want “ God of Buddhism / Siddhartha Gautama” in US government. You just want your god in US government.

And yet the Bible is pretty silent on abortion except to acknowledge that a woman life is more important
