The legend of Saint Valentine is that the Roman Empire got frustrated trying to kill all the Christians, but, since Christians do obey Roman laws in general and Bible laws consistently they might end Christianity by forbidding Christians to marry, therefore not consummate, therefore not reproduce. Valentine, a priest, married them anyway. So the Romans had to go back to killing Christian as usual.
If priests did not perform marriages until the 1400s how could the legend start before the 1400s.
The gay lobby will lie about anything.

I agree that cities known for blatant sin sometimes suffer horrific natural disasters. New Orleans, San Francisco and some other places deserve to suffer often, but as I asked on Facebook after a hurricane went by a few years ago: What did Tortuga do to deserve that?

How did the 20 year ordeal with Afghanistan harm your life? How did...any bad or disruptive event affect your life?
YOU HAD TO THINK ABOUT IT WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT EITHER NICER THINGS OR WORSE THINGS!

Way back in the 90s I used to say that the typical top 3 news stories were:
Something terrible happened thousands of miles away.
Something bad happened closer to home.
    Someone hurt someone's feelings.
I DON'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT EVERY TIME SOMEONE HURTS SOMEONE'S FEELINGS!

I try to assess things in their simplest form.
I would be better off with no homosexuals because I wouldn't have to worry about them and what they might do to me.
I would be better off if there was no such thing as gay marriage because then my wedding ring would be proof I am straight. Then no one would have to worry about what I might do to them.

    1) Gay marriage is not natural, and as Americans, we always reject unatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and lyposuction.

    2) Gay marriage will make people gay, in the same way that tall people will make you tall.

    3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

    4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

    7) Obviously, gay parents will only raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

    8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

    9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans...

Pretty soon people are going to go to jail if they disagree with homosexual nonsense about their special rights.
That is another thing that is really bad about gay marriage.

You have no say in this discussion due to conflict of interest.
Sure, no one would want to give up their special rights voluntarily.

Cybred, I think it's a little late in the thread to start with satire.
I never mentioned the children issues. The country has an interest in whether children are born or not because of voting laws and conscription. The country has an interest in whether children have parents that can be forced to support them if the country does things for distressed children.
So far we have enough children and know how to make more.
So maybe same sex marriage could ultimately reduce the population growth because homosexuals will no longer feel obligated to marry the opposite sex and have children with them.
Somehow I don't think we will ever have to worry about the population decreasing, certainly not because of this.

The right question I suppose is whether it is better to have the present number of homosexuals with homosexual marriage or without.
Conversion is real and troubling, but as long as the lifestyle and everything that goes with it is publicly endorsed conversion will continue, maybe even at a faster rate without gay marriage than with.
How would you say gay couples are doing keeping their wedding vows?

What do you have to do?
By force? What does that mean?
It's the law according to the Supreme Court who believe the right of homosexuals to marry is protected by the Constitution.
The public officials you decry are obeying the law.

You're looking over your shoulder at the urinal? They will beat you up? What?
How does that work when gay men sometimes married women.
Why would you do something to homosexuals?

I see in your response circular reference fallacy and appeal to authority fallacy.
Thank you for confirming my earlier statements.
There is absolutely no evidence have been presented why special rights (public benefits) were granted for private ( homosexual) activity.

This seems odd, why would you worry about homosexuals, what do they do to you?

Why would you have to prove you are straight? Isn't your wife already aware of this?

You think being straight means you can't possibly do things to people that would worry them?

If I meet a stranger, or even see one, he might be a homosexual.
If he is a homosexual he might want to have sex with me.
If he is impatient he might want to rape me.
Because of this I have been cautious about every man I meet.
    I have avoided friendships.
I have never gotten drunk because something might happen I can't control.
I didn't join a sports team until I was sure there would be no group showers.
I almost never went anywhere with just one man or with many men and no women.
The first time I went to prison I was thankful for solitary confinement.
The second time I went to prison I described my condition as "terrified."
