You just disproved your own argument, congratulations. Ape originated as a biological term, and it was misused by some unenlightened people. What, we have to stop using a word every time somebody uses it as an insult? We can't use the word "dinosaur" because somebody might insult an elderly person by calling them one?

New question for Mitt (or his apparent apprentice WanRen)....

How long was Noah on the Ark and...

how much food and water was required to keep the animals (and Noah and his family) alive on the Ark?

    "I don't know and I don't care" are acceptable answers.....if ...revealing. :)

The Ark is Mythical Metaphor story of purification.

It was never meant for mass consumption as historic fact.
I wonder at your agenda and you mind ….how it is that you have this need to rub salt into the wound of the ignorant.
what sort of person does this and why .

You know full well it never happened, and it's a metaphor…you know this and yet instead of discussing from the vantage point you choose to mock and rub salt…

why…i would ask yourself what sort of person you are growing up to be…are you this bereft of human contact that it leaves you to post these bitterly insulting diatribes night in night out day in day out…

your not alone here at PF and i wonder…after years of watching and listening…how many more times will you fill these needs of yours here.

it's metaphor , unless you really believe it to be historically true events..
even for you at the very least it's metaphor…with that knowledge you don;t approach the believers….you mock and rub salt and the question for me is always why…

what sort of human being does this sort of thing 24/7 behind a computer…

Hey, you're free to argue against Mitt and WanRen on that if you want. No point in arguing that with me, is there?

So you too continue to ignore the racist historical background of the introduction and the use of the term "Ape" by colonial white European scientist.
Just like the "N" word its' origin was not racist but racist white people change that to become racist. The ape originally meaning has always refer to as monkeys and white scientist took that to change it's core meaning pretending that it is scientific but in reality they were using it to justify the slavery and oppression of none white or in other words the superiority of white people.

someone who feels something close to despair at seeing good people, who mean well, compromise themselves horribly for such nonsense?

no one likes to see their fellows blinded and disabled by morally repugnant dogma.

If you think or believe the real gift is the gift of the life we are living right now then who gave us this gift?

It can't be a gift if no one gave it to us and since you atheists don't believe in God then there is no such thing coming from your atheist perspective that this is a gift we received.

It is an accident that you have this life, it can never be a gift. You are the accidental by-product of nature, a result of matter plus time plus chance. There is no reason for your existence. All you face is death. So why are you living? You have no purpose, your life is meaningless!

all ANY of us face is death - but SOME of us choose to enjoy every minute until we get there.

    why are we living? seriously?

okay, explain precisely what you mean when you assert that atheists have no purpose, and that our lives are meaningless. spell it out, and use universal, empirical terms to describe how interest in one thing gives more (and explain how your went about measuring this) meaning to a life than interest in another. I'd also like to know more about the mechanics behind this idea of lack of purpose. how did you reach that conclusion, and how did you measure the differences in 'purpose' between your samples?

But why was he born?...apparently for no reason under the atheist perspective. If he believes there is no God, then this life cannot be a gift. As I said, In the atheistic perspective "You are the accidental by-product of nature, a result of matter plus time plus chance. There is no reason for your existence. All you face is death. So why are you living? You have no purpose, your life is meaningless!"

Ive told you repeatedly I am not an atheist. You are now intentionally deceiving the fellow forum members. Why do you lie? You lie because that's the only option you have left. It certainly isn't answering questions. Shall I repost our conversations or would you rather retract your lie before I post our previous conversations about the fact I am not. LOL soooo my life is meaningless eh? that's another insult. I guess Id rather have a meaningless happy life than be someone who spent his life believing in a book written by people who weren't even smart enough to know what the sun was. It may be a meaningless life but at least I didn't spend it supporting child ass rape. It may be meaningless that's why I intend to enjoy every second of it instead of living in fear of a false god. It may be meaningless but at least I don't spend it lying on a daily basis.
Hey and thanks again for illustrating to the rest of the forum how religious people always have to lie (just like I said) in order to justify their ideology. So far you are exactly and I mean exactly like every other religious person who fell before me in debate. Always comes down to lies and insults.
For the record, just because one doesn't believe in your version of a god does not make them an atheist.
Now hows about answering what your gods punishment for child ass rape and those who covered it up is going to be?

I think that the ark is a metaphor for a local ruler who was able to withstand the attack by an overwhelming enemy force - Assyrian, Babylonian, Hittite, etc. - by taking the necessary actions of stockpiling food and other resources in his stronghold. If you read the story carefully you will pick up on the use of doves and ravens as symbols of peace entreaties and war parties and the olive leaf as a peace treaty.

Now think about this: if the world had been covered to the highest mountain with actual water for such a long time how in the hell did the dove find a fresh olive leaf? Only dummies believe in an actual world-wide flood as described in the fairy tale.

You're not understanding this sacrifice and so let me explain.

Knowing man’s incapability to maintain perfection by means of the law that was set up in the old covenant, God’s compassion and great love for mankind allowed for a new covenant. This would be an everlasting covenant to be established through the sending of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus became the true Lamb of God that took away the sins of the world and bring peace and restoration to a broken relationship between God and His people once and for all.

This covenant is from everlasting to everlasting and has eternal significance to the soul of man. Our souls were destined for eternal punishment because of our inability to be righteous and tendency to given in to temptations.

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who you are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty of our sins.

For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood.

"For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

If a friend of yours killed one their own children, but told you some long, convoluted and waffly story about how it had to be done to re-calibrate the goodness of humanity, would you accept this as reasonable and not condemn your friend? or would you understand that the nature of the psychopath is to justify (i.e., convince themselves it's for good, and not evil - according to their own twisted view of the world) their actions, and condemn your friend?

According to my moral standards it's wrong to sacrifice another person for your own desires. If God wanted to sacrifice someone he should have sacrificed himself. Besides, Jesus didn't stay dead so where was the sacrifice? And since people still do all of the things they have always done the so-call sacrifice has been worthless.

The fairy tale had more holes in it than there are stars in the universe.
