    Put me down as whatever you like, my friend. I put it to you that you are probably looking into the wrong direction if you’re looking for the Kingdom of God in outward events. My advice would be to have a good look inside yourself and then help to manifest God’s kingdom right now and right here, as those do who give something to eat to the hungry, give something to drink to the thirsty, who invite the stranger in, who clothe those who need clothes, who look after the sick and visit the prisoner. (Matthew 25:31-46) That will be a better preparation than reading wild prophecies into the election of a new Pope in spite of the fact that you were explicitly told in the very text you quoted that “you do not know the day or the hour” (Matthew 25:13).

    You see that you only are single-minded and cannot look beyond the here & now. Which is fine for preaching the Kingdom of God; but for those who want more than the milk of the word, who desire more as in the meat of the word, who love & treasure the scriptures, who are looking for His return, then the 'Full Gospel" must be taught, which includes His return.

    Btw, your contempt sounds very familiar. Hmmm,...think there is a scripture for that:

    Luke 4:24
    "I tell you the truth," he continued, "no prophet is accepted in his hometown.

    Matthew 13:57
    And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown [home forum!] and in his own house is a prophet without honor."

    The Earth will be shattered by a wandering planet named Niburu, or by some other "Planet X"; the Earth's rotation will suddenly reverse itself and all humanity will be destroyed; a black hole 30,000 light-years away will suck up the Earth and destroy it instantly; and three days of utter darkness will precede Christmas.

    "Cosmophobia" – just love the term! :clapping:
    I suppose I suffer from it myself here and there, which is why – with asteroids flying close by and all that - I thought it’s a shame that NASA-funding was cut. And I’m not even a major Bruce-Willis fan, just the average Trekkie. :wink:
    So to go halfway back to topic: let’s hope the new Pope – whoever it may be – won’t stop funding the Vatican Observatory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vatican_Observatory

    Since 196x normally every mass is in the language of the country - exceptions are confirming this rule. You never was a Catholic in your life.

    How many time and money do you earn if you write "ppl" instead of "people"?

    Completly stupid - everyone knows what he says in church service - even if he's using the latin language the first time.

    How long do you have to learn Latin to read the "pater noster" and to translate it in the english language?

    England is for me personally completly unimportant for the reformation - except the stories around Sir Thomas More and the tragedy of the english history. The keywords for me are normally "Luther" and "Gutenberg". Luther translated the bible within two weeks in the german language and Gutenberg printed his bible the first time as a new mass-media for everyone. We are living in their traditions if we write here.

    :lol:

    Vater unser,der Du bist im Himmel; Geheiligt werde Dein Name: Dein Reich komme,
    Pater noster, qui es in caelis; Sanctificetur nomen tuum: Adveniat regnum tuum:
    Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come;
    Notre Père, qui es aux cieux: que ton nom sont santifiè, que ton règne vienne,
    Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu Nombre; venga a nosotros tu reino;

    Dein Wille geschehe, wie im Himmel so auf Erden. Unser tägliches Brot gib
    Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo, et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da
    Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
    Que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel. Donne-nous aujourd’hui notre pain
    hágase tu voluntad así en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada dia;

    uns heute: Und vergib uns unsere Schuld, wie auch wir vergeben unseren Schuldigern.
    nobis hodie: Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus
    And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
    de ce jour :pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous pardonnons aussi à ceux qui nous
    perdona nuestras ofensas, como tambièn nosotros perdonamos a los que nos

    Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung. Sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen. Denn Dein ist
    nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem. Sed libera nos a malo. Quia tuum est
    and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom
    ont offensés. Et ne nous soumets pas à la tentation, mais délivre-nous du mal. Car c’est à
    ofenden; no nos dejes caer en la tentación, y líbranos del mal. Tuyo es el

    das Reich und die Kraft und Herrlichkeit in Ewigkeit. Amen.
    regnum, et potestas, et gloria in saecula. Amen.
    the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen
    toi qu’appartiennent le règne, la puissance et la gloire pour les siécles de siècles. Amen
    reino, tuyo el poder y la gloria por siempre, Señor. Amen

    My early childhood was pre-196X...in fact my older sister took Latin at a Catholic church taught to her by local Benedictine priests when my father was stationed in England.

    I use 'ppl' which is the Inet texting 'Std' (that's 'standard') as I have much to say that is relevant to the overal posting, not like you who 'wastes' ppl''s time reading your droning complaints!

    Again, "I was there!" unlike you who live in your own little world of only what you have seen.' I've also attended Mass in France, Germany, & Italy (been to the Vatican) all while my father was stationed overseas in Europe. The regular attendees would say 'refrains,' and unless there were 'meanings' quoted following them, had no idea what they were saying,,,"Et cum spiritu tuo"

    I also studied Latin in HS and read Caesar's Commentaries about his conquests in Gaul.

    That's because England created their own church (the Anglican) to 'compete' with the corrupt Romanist Church of the time.

    It's been too many years since I studied German in elementary school while a mil dependent there, but let me just sum up the total of your italicized texting with this response: "If you do, you'd better clean it up!"

    *** Btw, I read this post of yours today--you really need to chill out!

    Are we reading from the same Bible, or are you just warming up for the 4th Reich?

    I was just making a point. People started talking again about end times and prophecy. I just posted what many thought was the outcome of the mayan end days a couple months ago.
    I think, in my 50 odd yrs, I've been through around 10 end times. I suppose someday someone will be right. I hope not though.

    Don't count on it. All this End Time BS is nothing more than about $$$$$$$$$$$! Hollywood made a killing off of the 2012 thing. Camping's rapture prediction failed and he ended up having to give back half of what he collected.

    Thumper's want jesus to come back so they can be washed away into the clouds! While us lowly sinners live through the hell of some imagined tribulation.

    Ditto on having seen many false predictions. I always preface with miy 'best guess' when discussing!

    Just as in the story of "the boy who cried wolf," eventually the wolf did come...

    What is important is knowing who the 'boy' was, what was his motivation, etc. in evaluating his false cries! Usually ppl looking for recognition or sensationalism get in front of the public (including a 'following', who many could be considered cultic) to be seen as "God's man of the hour."

    In a couple of million years or so the sun is going to go out in a supernova. There's no getting around it. Until then I guess we'll see many more theologically unsound end-time preachers predicting that the end is nigh.

    When the Sun comes to the end of its life (In about 5 billion years) it will slowly emerge into a red giant. The dying Sun will then throw off its outer layers, forming a nebula. The only object remaining will be the extremely hot core, which will slowly cool and then fade as a white dwarf over many billions of years. source: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Will_our_sun_become_a_supernova

    What do you consider as 'theologically unsound?"

    Was Newton theologically unsound with his 'best guess?'

    How do you interpret Rev 6-22? Obviously future events leading to a new heaven and a new earth, ending with the Tree of Life having Living Waters flowing from it in the middle of the garden, as the restoration of Creation back to the original garden.

    You dont as you prefer to remain aloof from such and judge all others as being 'theologically unsound." Which do to your bias of an end-time as prophesied in the scriptures (the previous that I also mentioned) you prefer to be blind to and ignore that portion of the Gospel. End time to you is just a super nova of the sun. So have you torn out those pages of the Bible that you dont like?

    There is a difference in pulling out prophecy and predicting as "Thus saith the Lord.." vs. pointing to the scriptures and reasoning them in the total (as in correlation vs. just picking out 1 or 2). As in "Thus saith OverDrive.." which is a personal opinion or belief and not a firm established fact. I am against those who do say as "Thus saith the Lord.." as in the olden days, false prophets were stoned; but today, anyone can make blasphemous statements 'putting words in God's mouth' as it were.

    Again, for someone who comes across as intelligent, 'denial' leading to personal bias can dull the opportunity for continued revelation of God's word. Some ppl get stuck, and as a result, become stagnant. Now, go back to sleep...

    Bwaahahahaa....yah...that's why Henry VIII entered in to schism and broke with the Catholic Church--it was pure competition because the Church was corrupt! LOL .....Henry VIII, what a paragon of Christian morality, that he should righteously stand up to that wicked pope that said..."uh, no, you cannot just annul another marriage!" LOL

    Fel, glad you're so easily entertained! You are right to a part, but it went beyond that as part of the Reformation.

    Btw, have you read "Foxe's Book of Martyrs" yet? Will give you another look at the history of the Romanist Church as well as the need & proliferation of other reformists type churches

    Ironic that one who calls the Catholic Church "Romanist" is defending a church that calls herself "Anglican." The Church is CATHOLIC, not Roman--it is called "Roman Catholic" to differentiate where her Holy See is as opposed to other Catholic Churches such as the Eastern Catholic Churches.

    Also--that IS the reason they fell away from the See of Rome--the king didn't like the authority of the Church over him.

    How many times do I have to tell you that is a biased accounting? Did you forget? There is no disputing that Foxe lacks a shred of objectivity.

    In my opinion, what is known today as the Orthodox Church is the true historical church. Read Christian writings from the first and second centuries, and you'll see a perfect harmony with the Orthodox church with regards to theology and philosophy. Even the structure (the bishop is the leader and voice of God amongst his community of Christian, equal in authority to any other legitimately-ordained bishop) is identical in nature.

    For the Orthodox Church, the Patriarch of Rome is in schism with the true Church.

    Doctrines such as papal infallibility/supremacy, indulgences, purgatory, differentiating between the seriousness of sins, etc. are all false ideas.

    You are aware "Augustine's Mission" was in 597AD....Henry Broke with the Catholic Church in the 1530s. Almost 1000 years of being a Catholic Country. You're not very convincing. ;)

    Again, you need to read "Foxe's Book of Martyrs" written in the 18th century (and acclaimed as the best writings on the history of Christian martyrs) where he consistently referred to the church as the 'Romanist Church'---his words,not mine. And agreed it was written by an Englishman, and has been criticized mainly by those of the Roman Catholic Church, as it points out the corruption and the persecution of the Inquisition of that period of the Church of Rome. Something that the modern RC tries to bury in the past. Do you deny all that?

    And who is 'defending' the Anglican Church? It was the start of many English offshoots of the Reformation: The Puritans, Presbyterians, Episcopalian, etc.

    Perhaps you should refer to the First Council of Constantinople, which reads (in the Third Canon), "The Bishop of Constantinople, however, shall have the prerogative of honour after the Bishop of Rome because Constantinople is New Rome."

    "after" being the operative word.

    Augustine's mission was the start of the Romanist Church in England. The quote jumped to the separation 1000 yrs thereafter. . but the point was the last sentence of the quote. "... the Church of England separated from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534 and became the established church by an Act of Parliament in the Act of Supremacy, beginning a series of events known as the English Reformation"

    EDIT: The 1534 Act of Supremacy enacted as an Act of Parliament is often taken to mark the beginning of the English Reformation, although other sources suggest that it had been brewing for more than a century (Wiki)

    Acclaimed by whom? Aye....there's the rub.

    It is a biased accounting. What don't you get about that? Just read the Wiki article--it'll tell you.

    Are you proud that the "offshoots" of Catholicism via the (so-called) Reformation was started by an adulterous, bigamist glutton? ooooookay... lol

    - - - Updated - - -

    How does that counter ANYTHING I wrote? It rather affirms my position.

    And so YOU are ready to defend the Inquisition, then? There was no need for 'reform' of the Roman Church of that time? Proceed.........
