In other words...you only read what you wanted to read. Not what was actually there.

    Apparently, yeah.

American Indians were also subject to the draft.

You appear to be tacitly conceding that your Colorado analogy is invalid.

So what? How does that change what I've already said?

How can Taiwan be considered part of the PRC if it has a completely separate military/economy/government?

If we are talking about nationality, yeah, they are.

I know you often get confused between "ethnicity" and "nationality", so I am trying to be specific for your benefit. Isnt that nice of me?

Your posts indicate otherwise. Your own quote talked about ethnicity and you tried to use it to prove nationality.

    It works for me

    You could be correct here.

The Taiwanese government claims to be the government of China. Was this really so difficult?

You actually try to shift from Chinese to Chinese nationality now, because you don't want admit to that Chinese can build iPad like devices. Chinese are culturally inferior to Americans in you view, that's why Taiwanese can't be Chinese. Sure, Taiwanese are culturally inferior to Americans, too, in your view, but Taiwan is a relative small country and therefore you can find other arguments about them than having no Taiwanese iPad.

No, nationality has been introduced by you later as a strawman. I only asked you about who do you think lives in Taiwan. You simply didn't know.

No one in Taiwan is claiming that they control the economy or military or government of mainland China. Laying claim to something is obviously not the same thing as taking credit for something.

Products produced by Taiwan are NOT Chinese (PRC) products. That was my point.

The PRC cant. I am judging a culture, not a race. They are not the same thing.

I never made claims of individuals or races. Only cultures.

All nations are inferior to America. The only difference is degree. I never singled out China or Taiwan.

I did know and I answered you. Please pay attention.

Your point is wrong then. These are Chinese products.

So you switch from nationality to culture or race now? Sounds desperated to me.

I talked about cultures, too. What is your point here?

You probably even believe this

Your answer was wrong. Please pay attention.

If PRC citizens did not design them, they are not Chinese products in this context.

I did not switch from anything. Go back and read my posts from the beginning. You simply failed to keep up.

I just explained in the quote above, again, that I am talking about culture and nationality, not race. Your confusion comes from not actually reading what you are responding to.

PRC culture is not the same as Taiwanese culture, because one is a free democracy and the other is not.

    I'm not the only one.

So you admit I did answer you? Well, we are making progress.

They come with "Designed by PRC citizens" labels then?

You mix up ethnicity, nationality and culture and it's all my fault.

There are a lot of people, who think, Elvis is still alive, too.

Did I ever say, you did not answer this?

Pretty much yeah. You find out what company designed the product, and then find out what nation the company is from.

Not keeping up is your fault.

What does this mean, if companies have development centers in different countries? Maybe lots of BMW's or Toyotas are designed in the US and we wouldn't even know.

Try to switch between ethnicity, nationality and culture as much as you like, I won't try to keep up.

Can you give me an example of a such development center?

There might be exceptions, but I cant think of any.

If you have evidence that Toyota's technology is not primarily Japanese or that BMW's is not German, feel free to post it.

Intel develops many of its microprocessors in Haifa in Israel. SAP develops a lot of software in Bangalore in India.

I know for sure, that Toyota has a large development center in Zaventem in Belgium, they also build a new development center in Changsu in China.

I would have to check, if and what BMW or Toyota develop in the US, these were examples.

The BMW development center in the US is located Oxnard, California, this is about an hour by car away from Los Angeles.

To confuse you even more and maybe get the thread a bit back to the topic again, one of the most successful Russian SUV's is the Chevrolet Niva. It was mainly developed in Russia. It could be exported to Europe, because it matches Western standards, but they sell so much units in the East, that they simply did not have enough left to sell them in Western Europe.

So far all you have done is shown evidence that supposedly "foreign" companies are actually American. I have not seen you show evidence of the reverse.

You confuse laws created by people and laws of a universe created by the God or The Absolute, name it as you want. The slavery was created by people but the objective situation depending on laws of social development can demand presence or an abolishing of slavery. As soon as the level of development reaches the moment when the slavery becomes a brake in its development, laws of the nature demand abolishing of slavery. These laws are not created by people they are in an objective reality always. For example there is no human law according to which revolutions are made. Not one parliament of the world has accept such law. But this law exists, it was discovered and formulated by historians and philosophers and nobody can cancel it. There are are some conditions of fulfilment of revolution according to this law. First of all there should be a situation at which elite is not able to rule a society, and the bottoms of the society are not able to suffer this situation. The second condition is presence of strong counterelite which is able to take authority. Tis is a primitive statement of one of laws of social development.

I'm not the fortuneteller on cards and I'm not the prophet. I do not know the future. I just base on knowledge of a history and knowledge of laws of social development. Japan needs twice superiority relatively the USA on a level of development of technologies and GNP per capita to push the USA on the second position. China does not need to strain so strongly to do the same. Dont you see this objective reality?

Numerical superiority is special always. But there can be a situation at which numerical superiority can give an advantage and there is a situation when numerical superiority does not give an advantage. The modern situation is changing. It is changing the due to fast development of China. By the way I already spoke to you that there were times when China was the economic reason number 1. Nothing new. This is ordinary cyclicity in historical development.

I once again repeat. You use the Chinese inventions made centuries ago. You simply do not pay attention to the porcelain plate from which you eat soup. You do not pay attention to silk, a paper,a gunpowder and many other usual things. Last 200 years China had a rest this is why we did not see new technologies from China. But to approve that Chineses are not able to invent anything new is one of kinds of racism.

And China used these resources. It was a superpower of the ancient east. Dont you know?

No. But that is the argument you seem to be making. You are saying that technology originates from Americans, not Japs/Germans.

I do not know why this discussion aboput Russia ends up with the expected rise of China, but I do not wonder.

For the "American culture is superior" rednecks, who never got to know Chinese culture, scientific achievements do not equal cultural achievements. Nevertheless China's economic rising began in the 80ies with Deng Xiaoping.

Their lust for economic growth and scientific achievements is enormous. To the agrument that they just copy products, I would say, that this is oftentimes true up to now. Let me reply that is the way Japan began as well.

I do nothing more than to cite a US American mastermind when I predict that research and development will follow the production centers on the long run.
As for the scientific achievements, everyone with sci-finder can follow the Chinese progress. Of course, up to now I would say that more serious publication of significance come from the US and Europe, China and whole Asia in on the rise.

I have no doubts that China will take over the leading position (not per capita, at least not in a time period anyone can talk about). This is a chance for the rest of the world and not necessarily a menace. This does not mean that I see the US or Europe declining (only relatively to China or Asia). If they manage to get over their Obamania in the US or the political correct neurosis in Europe (same as Obamania in the US), then we will have Europe, the US and Russia (if you do not see it as Europe) stronger than ever in history, even if China's economy becomes the biggest.

It can be a win and win situation for all, depending on how US, Europe, Russia or others act. If they simply try to stop China's rise they will fail.

Because talk about Russia inevitably leads to comparisons with the US. And since everyone wants to take the US down a peg, they have to bring up China, since China is the only nation with any chance at all of being comparable to us economically.

Russia cant win a pissing contest with the US economically, but China (in some people's opinions anyway) might. So thats why discussion always shifts to China.

It is more true with them than it is with everyone else. It is more true with them than with Europe or the US or Japan...and even Russia.

Much (most?) of their military technology is not native...it is Soviet. Same with their nuclear technology. The Soviets did the heavy lifting.

As I said earlier in the thread, despite the fact that I talk a lot of crap about Russia, I have a lot of respect for the Russians. Far more than I do for China. Russia (via the Soviets) has already proven itself. China has not.

Lol. China is thousands of years old. The Chinese were already building palaces when your ancestors were still living in the forest collecting acorns. They have no need to prove anything to you.

This whole attitude behind that is ridiculous. Even after China took the leading position in absolute numbers, most people would prefer living in the US or in Europe. Normal people care about their living standard.

If China is of any interest for people to live there so only because of its economic rise, not because of the living standards. People emigrate to China because of interesting projects.

Per capita the US will be ahead for generations. Nevertheless I doubt that living quality and standards in the US are far better off than those in many other European countries or Canada. I don't know how you define your superior culture.

The Soviet Union callapsed terribly, although I have respect for the Russians as well I don't think that the SU has proven anything positive at all. The SU supressed Eastern Europe, they destroyed religious and cultural traditions, they brought hate and poverty instead, there were terrible mass killings, torture and anxiety in their part of the world.

I do not understand on the other hand not your disrespect for the Chinese people. They came from an African level in the 80ies and has managed to become an industrialized country in a relatively short period of time.

I also do not understand the anxiety of many Americans, when West West-Germany managed to become an economic super power in 20 years after 1945, what damage did it to the US? It was a market delivering the US with high quality products and with a lot of hunger for other US high quality products made in the US. What's the problem with that or what do you consider to be different with China's rise?

Apparently it is a disease of all Americans. Pour (*)(*)(*)(*) all except himself. When you learn to respect other nations?
In Russia there is a saying: All the (*)(*)(*), only I'm a D'Artagnan!
This statement is 100% true to you! Best regards! :-D
P.S.: Sorry, that went on personality! :bump:
