    That's not being a tightwad.
I cant relate to spending that type of money on those type of things. But God bless these women. If they have it and it makes them happy, go for it.

Always a terrible day. Eventually a new puppy or new dog can ease the grief, but you never really get over the loss of a good dog - or any other loyal friend.

"He danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
    throughout the south
He spoke through tears of 15 years how his dog and him
    traveled about
The dog up and died, he up and died
And after 20 years he still grieves"

Dante, ahead of Martin Luther, drew the same conclusion.

In that case I really fooled you. ;-)

Dante was very hostile to the corrupt Catholic system of indulgences. He believed that individuals did not need the church to gain entry into heaven.
His Comedy placed Popes and the princes of the church in the depths of Hell. He was a real rebel, but he was also by consensus the greatest poet in Italy at the time so they could not get away with cracking down on him or suppressing his great work.

It probably helped that he dies quickly after finishing the Comedy.

It’s a done deal, she is back home now and probably off chasing and barking at crows somewhere. She hated crows. The vet was very professional and made sure the procedure was carried out with the utmost of dignity. It’s a tough thing to go through, but she isn’t in any more pain now. Thank you for your post.

Dante { basically self-taught } was condemned to Exile from his
beloved Florence.I was in exile that his - Comedy - was composed.
Pope Boniface insisted that Dante remain in Rome as a delegate to the
    Catholic hierarchy.
" But since Fraud is the vice of which man alone is
capable,God loathes it most. Therefore the fraudulent
are placed below, and their torment is more painful. "

I truly cannot bear to hear about Pets and suffering or their final days.
More so than Humans.I don't know why this is.
    Probably due to Unconditional Love.
Humans are still learning about that feature.
No amount of Cows coming home is of any relief.

The dog we just put down was right around 17, we got her as a pup. That sounds like along time at first glance but when you put it in perspective with your own life it becomes amazing. For instance, when we got her, my little girl was in elementary school , now she is a mother of two.

Very few dog breeds make it to 15 let alone 17 years of age.
Can I ask what kind of dog food you bought/used.
The biggest factor in the age of a dog is what they are fed.

Its a hard thing to lose a close family member. Its gut wrenching to think you took care of this family member and now have to make a decision to end that life.
I had such a hard time doing it for my dog. I found her at the dump one day when I was taking stuff off the truck. She was all covered in snow and half frozen sitting on a stoop to an abandoned building. I picked her up, put her in the truck and took her home. We had her for 17 years. The vet put her to sleep in the bedroom on her blanket. We sat on the floor and I cried like a baby when the vet left. Best dog ever. She was stuck to me like glue. Always by my side. Slept by my side and if you came at me fast she got right in the middle and gave the stare, like don't go any closer. lol

Im so sorry you guys are going through this.
