No dry eyes here.

 

Let me guess.A lot of fresh chicken. Actually real meat
like fresh chicken is best.Plus fresh veggies mixed in.
But since many an american doesn't even follow that guideline,
then what hope is there for a Pet.But then you hear from some
nice old codger how they fed their doggie lots of Ol' Roy dog food
and lived better and longer than some the relatives.

 

Went out to the goat pasture and threw out some corn. I do that now and then....All the goats were there except Kora's baby. I looked and looked...it was nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere and under everything ...still no baby. So I went back to pulling nails..While working my wife came up the driveway and I told her of the missing kid. Then suddenly there it was....nursing. I don't know where it was hiding .....

 

Even the top shelf dry food is full of indigestible filler. They eat a lot and poop a lot. Yes, chicken, wait til it comes on sale whole and fill the freezer, boil and strip, cook rice in the broth then add veggies, usually peels, and scraps from the cutting board or rotate older produce out of the crisper. Crush up egg shells from breakfast. Before we moved still had our hobby farm, theygot quail eggs and quail, chicken, and rabbit organ meat. My wife would dry the rabbit ears until crispy. Dried rabbit ears are like crack to a dog. They split a can of mackerel from time to time.

 

Is it too much to ask that we come to this bar and share our hardships? So back off btch at allow us to mourn.

The spouse is not handling this very well, Einstein was his buddy. I think maybe I'm doing better than he is, but thinks he's expected to uphold his stoicism. Some men forget they may need a hug every now and then.

 

My dogs love Ole Roy. One is 18, 2 are 16... still going strong. (They also get table scraps) IMHO, longevity depends on genes, not diet... just like with humans. So there.

Oh, you know better than that, SMW. One could obliterate good genes with a lifetime of garbage and chemicals. As with many things, it can be a crapshoot... do the best you can with what you've got.

Since most domesticated animals trust us lousy humans to do the best for them we can, it doesn't preclude goodies and treats now and again.

 

It's a poor person or cheapskates Dog food.Understandable.
But I doubt Any Breeder or Vet or those who train and show dogs
for one minute are gonna applaud use of one of the Cheapest of dog food.
Ol' Roy.Look inside the shopping cart of those who have a bag of Ol' Roy
in there.I Gar-Own-Tee there is lots of crap to go around.Cheap ass food
items that generate bad skin and bad hair and bad teeth.Causing one to
limp way before their time.Or move slowly.
Sadfully there is no shortage of - Stuck on Stupid - in America.

 

Take yesterday for example.I went to the big city for supplies.
Red Wine,Cognac and groceries.I decided to not use the express
self-checkout.Because this Krogers dramatically has expanded it.
And dramatically limited the number of cashiers.There was only one
cashier lane.And only one person going thru it.So I decided to use it.
I seldom use a cashier checkout.There was this older lady in the
lane putting her goods on the counter.Lots of fruits and some fruit
drinks.Plus quite a few large bags of candy bars.She seemed younger
than her age.I'd quess in her 70's.But she seemed healthy.All that Fruit.
But what about all those candy bars.Sugar is a terrible enemy of the
human body.That was not taught 50 years ago.Maybe by guys like
Jack LaLanne and his wife.So this older Lady with nice healthy gray hair
and a bright yellow Rain jacket also had one of those personal
bags for carting off her groceries.You know the type.Those canvas shopping
bags that some shoppers bring in to the store to bag their groceries and
do their little bit to help the environment.
It is not possible for a galsy to look like Christie Brinkley and eat bacon and
candy bars and drink soda pop.That is a Given.
I mean,I think even our Pets came be trained to comprehend dat.

 

With all your observation, do you think perhaps what you were calling 'candy bars', were actually granola bars or protein bars?

I eat a number of protein bars during any given day. They aren't candy, though they usually taste pretty good, will have a few carbs to them, enough to keep you going when you can't stop for a sit-down healthy lunch.

 

Do you own a pet? Animals can be persnickety. Sometimes, if you find something they'll eat, you gotta go with it, even if it's not the best thing.

 

No way Jose.They were traditional candy bars.I think Milky Ways
and also Three Muskateers.There were maybe 5 or 6 plastic bags worth.
Each holding maybe 10 or more candy bars.

 

Grandkids?

 

At lot of protein bars are high in calories and not really All That.
I found one that is really good.
Larabar
Both their Peanut Butter and Pecan Pie bars.
Just 3 ingredients in each.
O mg cholesterol and 22 gr. carbs. But 220 calories.
I think a Big Mac is 540 calories.No way is one of those small
bars equivalent to half a Big Mac.

 

Nearly lunchtime... trying to decide between a kale burger or a Baby Ruth.

Think Ill just have a big bowl of Ole Roy and a Bud longneck.
