I think there are many priests who are men of God

But they need to rise up and cast the perverts out of the Church before its too late

I never said any of that. Perhaps you have me confused with another poster?

What agenda do you perceive that I have?

The Catholic Church is a total environment and that's why it protects its malefactors. Same with other total institutions such as the police and military (with notable exceptions). Anyway I'll be watching the appeals - wouldn't be surprised if he beats the rap.

We're trying. This is possibly a regional thing, but Daily Mass at my church is 50% full, and Sunday masses are packed to overflowing, and I'm in a largely Protestant stronghold (their churches seem to be pretty packed as well).

I wonder whether secular alternatives to religion are found to be lacking somehow. It may also be that the church put a stranglehold on me in childhood. I can't prove that that did not happen, and I do have suspicions.

Without being able to have the human mind from a young age, most religions would fail. When perceptions and fears and superstitions are built from an early age, the chance of religion taking root is much higher.

Well, there are adult converts to Catholicism. The other thing is that Catholicism works for me better than the alternatives I have tried. It tells me what I should do on this Earth, which is follow the goldden rule, and why.

There are of course peasants in Mongolia who no doubt follow the rule and never heard of Jesus. I know that. But I wasn't born in Mongolia. I was born in a log cabin in Kentucky and walked 6 miles to school every day.

And that's why I would appreciate your vote for President on election day.

    Hail to the Chef!

Corruption of the priesthood appears to be worldwide and reaching all the way up to the Vatican itself

But most ordinary Cathloics are good people and deserve better than what they are getting
