Tell Christianity Today. It was a cover article. You can name the exceptions, it doesn't change the rule.

Again denominations stand for 'divisions.' And the Church of God in Christ is a Black church..Rev Wright's church is a Black church..who segregated them?! "Self-segregation!'

I know from living in Dallas (where every home's a palace..Big D, little "a", double "elly", "a-s") That the wealthy areas are primarily white churches, but any Blacks who 'want' to come can....the educated & prosperous Blacks of that area identify more with their white counterparts than with poor ghetto blacks! Just a fact of life!

Ask the Dallas Cowboy football players (about 90% Black) where they live and go to church?!

That was two, and I can give you plenty of more examples.
You were the one that said you hadn't heard of any mass murdering home schoolers.
Just showing that you never see what you never look for.

    - - - Updated - - -

And de facto segregation in America's churches is also a fact of life.
    The exceptions don't disprove this.

And the reason is ?? Being Christian? or being home schooled?

Funny how we raised 3 kids in Christian private schools, home schooled for 1 yr, and public schools at times, and never heard of any, other than the Amish massacre....

So now you have heard of them?
    Ok.
By the way, Adam Lanza, the Newtown shooter, finished his education as a home schooler.

lets see: I've lived in WI, OK, TX, NY, MT, AZ, CO, Germany, England, Libya, and never heard of segregated churches....and your experience is where?

    - - - Updated - - -

No! I know about Mississippi and some other southern churches back when..but nothing today! But I do accept your apology for misrepresenting the facts...

Your desperation is embarrassing and not very flattering, bruce. You have a narrow outlook on life with little experience, never giving any backup as being ashamed as far as I can tell.. I've given many anecdotes of personal experience and you have given..what? What somebody else said! Not much of an argument using 'what I heard's" etc. You would be shredded in a court of law! Where I have personal testimony...

I was talking about you suddenly knowing about a mass murderer that was home schooled.

My experience is Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and North Carolina.
My reading on the issue confirms the overwhelming trend, not your personal experience.
As previously stated, nowhere is it the stated policy, it is what people choose.

Yes, I put more stock in statistics than your personal testimony. Five percent of America's churches are integrated.

That's one article. I can bury you with articles showing this trend if you want me to.
You have become a different person. I'm very sorry to see you turning to a very vindictive edge. We had avoided it, and now you regularly get ugly and even have descended to name calling on some threads.
Is something going on personally? Why the change?

Again, ppl tend to 'migrate' to those they identify with..skin color and economics being 2 reasons. I've seen no prejudice in the inter/non-denominational churches based on skin color..probably more so for 'hygiene! [IMG]

And Black churches attract Black folks..but NO Signs!.... I used to like to go to 'have fun' on occasion, as they know how to 'rev' it up!

NOTE: You really need to get over your sensitivity and hurt feelings, and demanding apologies from everyone who crosses you! Your trapped wallowing in your self-pity from your past experiences...only you can help you out!

Segregation has nothing to do with signs or protests. That is in your mind.
I have no idea what the "hygiene" comment means. You lost me.
Your note is an avoidance of your very poor manners you have decided to default to. If this is what your church has taught you, thanks anyway.

I'm not going to tit-for-tat with you as that just 'enables' your anger from your hurt past..maybe Inc will humor you......I'm done !

Note: the 'hygiene' comment was for those of any race or persuasion who dont regularly bath and have an offensive odor and are hard to 'hug!' I've done it but it is difficult for those of regular hygiene! Sorry, but the smell can be overwhelming!

When revealed, the strong apologize, the weak run.
Just like Inc, you prefer to invent a past for me that makes you feel better, when all that is really on display is your rudeness.

You have a 'secretive past' which you wont divulge...that is your fault!

I know that as a Liberal you want to label everyone as a 'victim.' Sorry it doesnt work for me.

And, unlike YOU, I'm not looking for or demanding an apology as is your MO!

American immigration / assimilation policy is, quite simply, insane.

now quit making it so easy to agree with you.

I dont have major heartburn at this point with illegals, as long as they get documented and are law abiding. And, 'melt' into the American melting pot by learning English. And carry their own weights!

My grandparents came over from Italy in the 1920's, legally, but my grandfather insisted that his 11 kids speak English only at home as this was America! They all became upstanding Americans and added to the economy--no deadbeats!

I believe you last said "Seeya!' But since I'm the OP, you shud politely leave, huh?

You said "I'm done". My seeya was an acknowledgment of that. Who knew you didn't mean it?
I have no intention of going anywhere.
    Sorry.

You are making an excellent case for the loss of civility in America, though like your case for the great integrated church of the U.S., it is also just your personal testimony.

    So do the Japanese.
The incivility of Americans seems to have very little to do with being godless, as even the most devout posters here seem to drop civil discourse very quickly.
It might be interesting to look deeper than this simplistic answer. Maybe the idea that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely would be more to the point. This would also fit very nicely with the concept that Jesus proclaims about the meek inheriting the earth. His is frequently characterized as the "upside-down Kingdom", and as we see ourselves as best, and boastfully so, perhaps that is at the root of our rudeness.
Not married to this idea, but worth considering.
Godless or God-fearing seems to have little effect on the incivility of the poster, however.

Just thinking we can also add the Netherlands and Sweden. More accomplished academically, far more civil and essentially socialist to boot, with no predominant religion!

I have no real idea of how old you are, but I suspect you simply had less to cheer for. What was your generations war? Vietnam? Not a lot to chant about.

You made your choices, I suppose.

They are having fun and not hurting anyone - why are you bothering to give them a second though?

You do NOT have the right to judge how people react in an emergency.

What's wrong with you? These people feared they were going to die, and you are offended by their choice of words. Selfish. Utterly selfish. And disgusting. And weak.

Then you can't really think its that big of a problem.

I'm certain they don't care about your opinion.

Respect is earned, and you haven't earned their respect.

It was a rather uncivil start.
