Oddly enough all of the 'hot spots' are in democrat controlled places.

Actually that's a matter of debate since the city has grown to encompass local areas as well and to the extent that it's now guesswork where Houston ends and the next smaller metropolis begins. The surrounding population may very well be another two million people; but that's just a wild guess.

Me too. And I didn't reference either party. My comments about your politics had nothing to do with party.

*******nit. I am getting really ****ing tired of this idiotic talking point.

Covid-19 is objectively more lethal and objectively more contagious than the seasonal flu. It has killed ~40,000 Americans in three ****ing weeks and you want to pretend that is comparable to the entire year from the seasonal flu? Never mind the fact that the seasonal flu has vaccines and known antivirals - neither of which exists for Covid-19.

And don't forget that the 40,000 REAL ****ING AMERICANS WHO HAVE DIED from this virus over the course of three weeks did so despite draconian and significant pandemic control factors. If those very same factors were applied to the seasonal flu, then its death rate would drop down dramatically as well. So if you remove the pandemic control factors that have thus far limited Covid-19, then you can expect those numbers to increase as well.

DP party bosses and their minions though that the CCP/DP Wuhan Bat Virus would be blamed on Trump.
They need to fire their political advisors.

This situation reminds me how closely some people hold their victim status. Those most likely to claim some sort of victim status are also those most likely to believe that this is a viral pandemic. You're better off getting between a bear and her cubs than a fool and their folly.

And then froze in place, as have the numbers of infected. Oh both are gradually inching up, but only very gradually. The huge death toll that the Left managed to convince the nation was going to happen has not happened and is not going to happen. Now governors are reopening their states for business, but doing so with health practices engaged. Why was New York so heavily hit? Because Cuoma and particularly De Blassio were busy playing politics and being politically correct rather than bothering to even try to take care of people until AFTER it was too damn late.

Over the past decade, we've only hit > 59,000 one year, so it isn't true to say that the common flue kills 59,000 Americans every single year. Not even close.

And even then, that's the annual mortality rate without the extreme measures we've taken for COVID. So even after these distancing measures we've already surpassed, in April, the highest annual mortality rate for the flu we've seen for over the past decade, at least. We can debate about what measures are necessary, but it is batshit bonkers to pretend this is only as bad as the common flu.

The same types of computer modals that got the spread of the virus so wrong also got global warming just as wrong. Those are the same types of computer models that predicted that the Soviet Union's economy, and later China's economy, would eventually surpass the US economy. The single greatest threat to the American way of life are computer models.

Didn't say it's as low as the common flu. But 59,000 people a year dying from a common flu is a serious problem. One we haven't come close to addressing.

Your theory is that 25,000 newly infected and 1500 dead, per day, is still "only very gradually?" And that 40,000 dead in three weeks is not a "huge death toll?"

Here's the thing, the pandemic control measures we have in place are the only reason that number has not continued to grow exponentially and is now only growing in a linear fashion. It is the height of idiocy to look at the bend in the curve which has only shown up after the pandemic control measures were put in place and say, "You see? Those control measures were never even needed"

Yes. We have. We made vaccines and antivirals and when the flu does spike in a given year, we declare a national health crisis or a pandemic.

We don't have 59,000 a year dying of the common flu. Over the past century, we've only had one year like that. This is worse, even after social distancing measures.

I would rather kiss a covid patient full on the lips than receive a mandated vaccine. I foresee bad things for those of us who will not go along with what all of this was done to implement. Give me liberty, or give me death.
