No truer statement has been made here on this forum in the last five minutes.

 

I agree that Conservatives are the ones in danger. But that means that the country is in danger as well! The country needs a strong conservative party in order to keep extremists on both sides at bay. Only a healthy balance between two "true democratic" parties, i.e. the (tradional) conservatives and the democrats, allowing the alternation of power, can ensure a sound future for the country, and avoid the pitfalls of comnunism/socialism on the one side, and of fascism on the other side.

Look at what happens to countries where a "personnality cult" is allowed to flourish! Examples are aplenty.

You may be right. But we ALL lose it. I think a conservative party is necessary in our political system to maintain a bit of balance. A fascist party... not so much

 

The left has been calling Republicans fascist since Nixon. Perhaps we need a party the left calls fascist to maintain a bit of balance.

I personally wouldn't consider supporting a politician the left didn't call fascist.

 

But yet when Trump said you need to fight like hell or you're not going to have a country anymore you called it violence.

So if I understand your post, you are saying that the 'old brand' of Republicans needed to be changed - and they were replaced by a new brand. Can you explain what was wrong with the old brand and what the new brand is bringing to the table in its place? I'm hoping that you are talking about policies and not just attitude.

Exactly how do we get hijacked? We all vote for whoever we want elected.

 

Agreed, everyone has their vote. But if you are being lied to on a widespread scale by the candidates then how can you make the best decision for yourself?

 

The same way democrats deal with lies by their candidates.

 

The old brand were hawks, the new brand doves.
The old brand were globalists, the new brand nationalists.
The old brand were soft on immigration, the new brand hard on immigration.

 

Yes, it happens with Dems as well. But can you recognize the extraordinary amount of lies and misinformation coming from the extremist camp supporting DT right now?

Calling conservatives “fascists” carries the same amount of weight as a first grader telling another first grader “You’re ugly!” and sticking their tongue out at them.

Your definition of “fascism” starting with “Fascism refers to ….” fits the description applying to a lot of people in Washington, not just Republicans. Denying that fact is intellectually dishonest, and you know it … I think.
