Trump supporters are making a big deal out of the fact that Trump is beating Biden by 4%, 49 to 45. Four percent is barely higher than margin for error, which is just over 3%. They are also pointing out that Trump is ahead in several key states, once more with less than 50%.

The 600 pound gorilla in the room is Trump’s negative polling which is at 56%. This is huge. Trump is starting this race in a deep hole. Over half the voters don’t like him. They might vote for him when his opponent is Biden. Otherwise, at 56% negatives, they will very likely vote for someone else.

    Care to discuss?

The question is, why in America does it seem the two top choices are Biden and Trump?
We can do better and I think neither Trump or Biden will be on the ballot in 2024.

Republicans have several viable alternatives to Trump (GO NIKKI!)
    Democrats, not so much.

Why is that? 350 MILLION Americans and Biden is the best the democrats have?

I have no idea why the American presidential nomination system is so stuck on two guys who not far from the nursing home or the grim reaper. Both of them are too old. One is senile, and the other is as mean and stubborn as rabid dog.

The Democrats have an apparent viable option, Gavin Newsom. He’s a rich communist; he has great hair; he looks like someone Hollywood would cast; he can string two coherent sentences together, unlike Biden; and he’s failed miserably in California. What’s not to like? By the time the people who vote for him, who are not among those would vote for any Democrat, have figured out that they have screwed themselves, it will be too late. It will be Joe Biden all over again.

Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis are the best options, but “it’s not their turn.” Trump, who made a fool of himself after the 2020 election, “deserves another chance.”

But the American education system does not allow people to learn from their mistakes. They just keep making them.

Candidates actually do not win elections they lose them. More people than are given credit constantly vote for the person they dislike least. Trump is a Cockwomble with a vile personality and gross habits. He won in 2016 because “the apprentice” was still fresh in people’s minds. As that has faded and his sordid past has oozed to the surface it has turned more and more people off of his brand

    I wouldn’t call Biden mean………

Biden is not the one who thinks he is running against Obama or that we are about to be dragged into WW2

    A bonus, eh?
Imagine. Republicans put the first woman in the white house and she isn't white.
Democrats heads would explode all over America.

And Hillary would probably have to be physically restrained.

Biden is as mean as they come. He’s the first U.S. president who openly disrespects those who don’t support him in particular and the American people in general with his open border politics. He doesn’t care if he lets in criminals, terrorists or lethal, addictive drugs. It’s all about getting more Democrat voters into the country.

Aaaaaannnndddd there it is! You were doing so well up until the conspiracy theory. If it is such a sure fire thing why do so many latinos vote for Trump? As for your “open borders” why hasn’t your Republican congress passed better immigration laws?

We shall agree to disagree. Her “basket of deplorables” comment hurt her as much as anything. You like her because she’s a liberal Democrat woman who desperately wanted to be president. The Clinton Foundation was a scram to make she and Bill rich. After she lost, they pretty much shut it down.

You said that people often vote against those they don’t like. That’s what happened to Hillary Clinton.

You won’t shut me down with that BS. A great many Hispanics, who are here LEGALLY, greatly resent the turnstile jumpers because they had to commit the time and money to come to America in the right and legal way. Some of the Hispanics I know are as pissed off by Biden’s border politics as I am.

Passing immigration reform starts with closing the border. If the Democrats can’t do that, it’s a non starter. I think that LEGAL immigration should be easier and cheaper, but if one party is not going to enforce the laws, why bother to reform them?

What is to say the new immigrants won’t feel the same way? Why aren’t republicans working on closing the border - ooops I know! They don’t want to kill another golden goose like overturning RvW did. That and follow the money - tell me again why America wants cheap immigrant workers? And there too is a rub - why aren’t your republicans tightening work visas? If you want to disincentivise illegal immigration let it be known that there are no jobs available

I think to have a proper discussion, one needs to look at both Biden’s and Trump’s favorable/unfavorable ratings. Biden 40.6% favorable/54.6% unfavorable. Trump 39.6% favorable/56.2% unfavorable.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/other/FavorabilityRatingsPoliticalLeaders.html

Both are disliked by most Americans and most Americans don’t want neither Trump nor Biden to become the next president. 61% of all Americans don’t want Biden to run again, question 16. 58% of all Americans don’t want Trump to run again either, question 17.

    https://d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.net/documents/econTabReport_bpzPgoE.pdf

For most Americans this is an election made in hell. You can tell this by looking at a polls that includes third party candidates. All Americans Biden 36%, Trump 35%, RFK Jr. 19%, West 6%, other 1%. Question 5 below the narrative. But it gets worse if one looks at the independent column, the election deciders who make up a bit over 40% of the electorate today. Independents only, Biden 27%, Trump 30%, RFK Jr. 33%, West 8%. The desire out there is for someone other than Trump and or Biden. This shows both major parties are telling most Americans to stick it where the sun don’t shine. Add the no labels party if they do run someone like Manchin, Hogan, Romney, the combined third party vote in 2024 could be as high as 30% or more considering the total dislike and unwantedness of both Biden and Trump among the unwashed masses who aren’t Republicans or democrats..

The Republicans don’t have the White House and only a slim majority in the House. Biden is in charge of the border, and he’s refusing to enforce the law. He’s not even proposing legislation.

And yes, that are butt hole Republicans who want the cheap labor along with some equally loathsome Democrats.

The only area where I would disagree with you is with the Democrats. They are telling their base, “It’s Biden and shut up.” For the Republicans it’s a self inflicted wound. The cult is jamming Trump down our throats.

What race do you think she it?

Um....why would that be the case?

IMO she is the best candidate at this point (from either party).

Actually they seem to be admitting he may not be their best choice, and several challengers have already announced their candidacy and looks like Manchin will announce soon

So they picked someone even more repulsive and crooked? Weird. That's a much better explanation of Trump's loss to Biden than Clinton's loss to Trump.

Oh no. Trump painting Hillary anything had nothing to do with it and Benghazi had little to do with it.
Her "basket of deplorables" speech is what did it.

    Oh no.
    That is all so wrong.
It isn't republicans job to reform immigration, that has to fall on Biden.
He won't do it because he has an open border plan and it's working.
If Republicans passed meaningful immigration reform, like my 4 part plan, biden wouldn't sign it.
    Guaranteed.
And closing the border, tightening work visas, whatever else you think would work is never going to work.
Not while the biden administration works with sanctuary cities to provide work permits, and housing and food and medical care, and even laundry service (really, look it up).
This is Biden's doing. It's his plan. And it's working.

    Not the point.
What Hillary did was something no politician in a national race had ever done, that I know of, and I looked.
She didn't criticize Trump, or republicans or their platforms.
She went after that "basket of deplorables" who dared not support her.
She attacked people for who they wanted to support.

    The great mass of truck driving, beer drinking, gun toting, trailer dwelling, unwashed, uneducated, genetically ambiguous, rednecks in flyover country took offense at her attack on them, rose up and declared;
    ENOUGH!!
    JUSTEFUCKINGNOUGH!!
And voted her out of office.
