What makes that bill a "minor tweak?"

Border patrol. The administration has been trying to hide the numbers, but they were forced to admit them at Congressional hearings. You can also read news reports about it.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2023/05/19/border-crossers-deported-released/

    For example, one week:
"DHS said it sent more than 11,000 migrants, including families with children, to more than 30 countries during the past week"

"Since the policy ended last week, roughly 21,000 migrants have been released by the U.S. Border Patrol with a notice to appear in U.S."

11,000 deported in one week. Twice that number released into the interior over the same time period. It's basically catch and release at our border which is why we have a flood of migrants.

    Supreme Court 2010.
The people do not vote for the “Officers of the United States.” Art. II, §2, cl. 2.

Let us know if you have a more current precedent. Oh you don't? Shucks. How awkward for you.

Does Google not work for you? It's working for me. Odd. Or maybe copy and paste isn't working? Perhaps your computer has a virus. I think Geek Squad can help with that.

Unfortunately, doing your research is not my responsibility.

Ferfucksake. I'd like to read it, and if you knew the name, that'd be easier.

If it was a minor tweak, it wouldn't have been sitting on Schumer's desk for months.

Anyway, you claimed there was no such legislation, I demonstrated that there in fact was, so I don't know why you are still trying to make an issue about something that you were factually incorrect on. Just take the L and move on.

The people who wrote the 14th Amendment literally said they were aware it applied to the President, and anyone who holds office in the US is an officer of the US. All literate people get this.

I quoted it and gave you the year. If you can't find it via copy/paste then you can't understand it anyway.

I’ve posted the case name multiple times as well as the 1888 decision. It just gets called semantic bs and/or discarded(though one person did agree that 14 a doesn’t apply then shortly thereafter supported the decision in Colorado based on the 14th). These are Supreme Court rulings on what constitutes an officer of the United States.

    Here is 2010:

    https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/561/477/

Free Enterprise Fund v. Public Company Accounting Oversight Bd.

The diffusion of power carries with it a diffusion of accountability. The people do not vote for the “Officers of the United States.” Art. II, §2, cl. 2. They instead look to the President to guide the “assistants or deputies … subject to his superintendence.”

That necessarily excludes the President as he is voted on.

    Here is 1888:

    https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/124/303/

    United States v. Mouat, 124 U.S. 303 (1888)

“Unless a person in the service of the government, therefore, holds his place by virtue of an appointment by the President or of one of the courts of justice or heads of departments authorized by law to make such an appointment, he is not, strictly speaking, an officer of the United States.”

That necessarily excludes the president as he is not appointed.

    TL/DR:

Summary of 1888: officers of the US are appointed

Summary of 2010: officers of the US are NOT elected.

President does not fit either of those.

LOL. No, then they are here legally.
Expulsions are not let into the country. I even gave you the definition in this thread.

You've not disputed any thing. In fact, you couldn't even define 14%. All you've given is uninformed opinions. Not a single accurate math point. Not single link to any data, facts, or stats.
Have you ever read a chart before?

Which is apprehensions and which are expulsions? You don't really believe all the people caught are sent back?

Congress has to change immigration laws.
The president has to follow laws.
This has been an issue for 60 or more years.

    ...
White House says Congress must pass immigration reform
A White House spokesperson said in a statement that Biden has called on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

"Without Congressional action, this Administration has been working to build a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system and we’ve led the largest expansion of lawful pathways for immigration in decades," the statement said. "The federal government is working to provide information and services to ensure that those who are eligible submit their work permit applications immediately."

There are measures that a President can take to ease the situation. Remain in Mexico, build barriers and deport the ones who don't come through an official port of entry. Trump did take actions.

Some presidents aspire to the humanitarian aspect of people. Some throw them in cages.
The remain in Mexico EO, was under a pandemic. Using national and international Title 42 to implement it.
It's already been explained, the pandemic is considered over. In USA and the world.

Trump's anti invasion policies were to at least slow the invasion. It was driven by the out of control border, not covid.
