All problems are local, to include leadership
Margot, you are deflecting and ignore the obvious. How did the jones act effect emergency planning, implementation and acquisition over the past few decades?

If you want to wrestle with me just ask, I will bring the wine and you can pick some good music.

You still didn't address their concerns. Do you disagree with them? Why? What evidence do you have that they are wrong?

According to lots of the people there who actually need the help Trump is giving far less than enough. I realize you Trump worshippers will give more credence to the God-Emperor than to any person who is actually THERE but most of us who don't want to change sex so we can have the President's children are aware that Trump has a pattern of promising the sky, delivering bullshit, and then telling us all the sky is now brown and lays in big stinky puddles on the ground

Really.....why should she get any respect after what she pulled. First all is good and out of her own mouth.....and now, she is ripping Trump. Despite the Governor telling it like it is. Publicly and making a big deal about it. With a lil help from the MS Media.

Trump should put the dis on her. She's lucky it isn't me.....I would slam her and show her for being a ditz, a putz, a mope, then for politicizing a Natural disaster. I would try and end her career in politics.

Your spelling on, "I don't have any good actual answer to that so I'll just say it's lame for no reason" is a little off.

Trump doesn't have control of PREMA. The Governor there does.

I realize those of you with the TDS are caught up in Trump Tunnelvision. But no one said you get to play with any size paintbrushes.

Do you think Huston and Florida should be restored using only private investment ?

You know that PR is a US Territory right ?

Here's her response to Trump on twitter: "The goal is one: saving lives. This is the time to show our "true colors". We cannot be distracted by anything else." Yep, she's all for politicising this. Trump on the other hand kept dignified and refused to descend to partisan point-scoring. Oh wait....

This is not a left/right issue. Local government elected womb failed the people because over the decades officials whistled past the graveyard.

I'm making a prediction: In the coming weeks, Trump and his Racist Followers will attack The US Vergin Islands the same way they're attacking Puerto Rico.

... and we all know why. ;)

Another bit of wisdom? You fail to hold local elected leadership accountable.

Why take responsibility for anything. Just call Trump a racist and the Left goes "YAAAYYYY!!!"

    Idiots.

I thing the gov't will do it's part in all the hurricane striken areas. Infrastructure is largely gov't subsidized. Power, water, and roads will be restored in PR, but that doesn't solve the problems there. Retailers must rebuild, and restock food, clothing, and sundry supplies. The private sector is far more important to recovery than the gov't.

I don't agree in the policy that supports something like a jones act, but my side has tried to repeal it several times. Most recently in 2015. Then as now there was strong support for the jones from the left.

As part of that support they argue now that the problem in Puerto Rico has nothing to do with a lack of shipping. What argument can be made to refute that claim?

I don't know what people expect

So far as I know there is not mass starvation of death from exposure in Texas or Florida so trump is obviously doing an adequate job of relief

They expect him to cry, and then to be impeached and/or resign.

I think they're destined to be disappointed.

Trump kept it dignified when he told the Country both the Mayor and the Governor thanked him for jumping Right on it. Funny how the governor is still on the same page. Yet that Mayor. Did show her true colors.

Trump wouldn't have to bring the dis, if she wouldn't have fallen off into the TDS.

Yep she is politicizing it.....she knows damn full well that PREMA is under that governors direction.

She knows Damn full well, that the Virgin Islands and some others were completely wiped out, and that those are Americans too.

Oh and more than likely she knows Cuba took a hit too.

Everyone knew Trump was a lout even before the election. This comes as no surprise to either fan or foe. It's like saying water is wet.

It's actually to the point where a Trump good action is now seen as the anoblished exception, so he gains relatively more for it than the average politician.

This sounds EXACTLY like Katrina. "It's the mayor, no the governor, no the Corps of Engineers" meanwhile bodies are literally floating in the streets.

What does it MATTER who's really responsible for what? Do you honestly think people who have been without adequate food or water for going on two weeks now are going to CARE about Puerto Rico's debt structure?

Puerto Rico has been, basically, destroyed, as devastated as if they were invaded by a foreign power (maybe more so, invaders try to keep infrastructure, it helps them control the populace). So why hasn't the Army been deployed as if they WERE fighting a foreign power? I realize they are there in some strength already, but why aren't they all OVER that island? We have more than enough men and supplies to talk about invading Korea and kllling everybody, why can't we "invade" part of our own country to save the people there? Functioning when everything is gone is what Armies DO, isn't it?

Again this is JUST like Katrina, Bush dithered and bullshitted and told his FEMA director he was doing a fine job and his kids just loved the pony he'd given them to get it, and so he threw away what could have been the greatest PR coup of career, even better than the speech on the remains of the WTC, a chance to stand up and say, "to hell with jurisdictions, people need help and they're going to get it". (Jeebus, how can politicians be so unpolitical?) Trump actually appeared to be doing the right thing here, at first, I guess he made a call to Bannon and that ghost of Heinrich Himmler told him his Base would turn on him if he actually showed some actual human feeling for once

Cmon now.....they will only attack the racists that the left pimps out on a daily basis. Plus they will have to deal with more of that diversity racism that the leftness preaches.

Trump keeps it dignified when people praise him. Pretty much any criticism and he lashes out.

Let's say for the sake of argument you're right (which I don't think at all). Trump should still suck it up and get on with the job of helping Puerto Ricans. They are in a dire situation and that should be his focus. His tweets just seem to confirm, yet again, that he can't bear for anyone to say a word against him, even if they're desperate for help and he's at his golf course. Talk about optics...

Extremist alt right BLAMING the victims as ALWAYS!

The "economic sanctions" that the US government has imposed on the PR government for DECADES is responsible for the current economic woes.

Furthermore no amount of planning deals with having ALL of your resources DECIMATED leaving you with NOTHING.
