Coronavirus model projects 134,000 deaths in US, nearly double its last estimate

(CNN)An influential coronavirus model often cited by the White House is now forecasting that 134,000 people will die of Covid-19 in the United States, nearly double its previous prediction.

The model, from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, previously predicted 72,433 deaths as of Monday morning.

Relatedly, a Trump administration model projects a rise in coronavirus cases and deaths in the weeks ahead, up to about 3,000 daily deaths in the US by June 1, according to an internal document obtained by The New York Times. Over the past week, about 2,000 people died daily in the US, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The sharp increases in the two models are tied to relaxed social distancing and increased mobility in the US. States across the country -- including Florida, Colorado, Indiana, Nebraska and South Carolina -- have eased restrictions in an attempt to revive a sputtering economy and calm restless residents.

Well, the US usually sees 230,000+ deaths in a month so only 60,000+ is a banner month.

So . . . are our political leftists going back to thinking that millions are going to die inside the United States? They seem to be conflicted about what they want. Well, considering 25% of the deaths were the elderly in nursing homes, not retirement homes and JAMA states that 94% of NYC’s COVID19 deaths were the elderly with underlying conditions then I tend to lean towards the yearly death toll to increase by .06% over last year. The exact same amount of increase from the previous year.

 

Currently, only two Western countries do worse than US in terms of number of cases per inhabitant: Spain (1/189) and Belgium (1/228 )

US (1/267) has overtaken Italy (1/284) since Friday.

In about 8 days time, US will be the country most affected by the virus.

And in 15 days, it will also be for the number of deaths per capita.

It's going so well, the new predictions have doubled the number of potential casualties to 134,000.

They're even saying it could be as high as 200,000....

First, Trump hasn't made anyone ill . . . except for perhaps Nancy Pelosi for having showed the nation that her impeachment of him was a farce. Second when you consider the number of dead to the numbers of people in a nation, the United States is about in the middle of the group.
