Maybe machine operators are underpaid. Might want to also consider that the lowest common denominator is not the direction where you want US wages to go.

Well you pay for the retirement benefits if you pay taxes.

That's the point - taxpayers shouldn't pay the labour/benefit costs. Revenue should support fully loaded wages.

Unlike you I don't whine when someone receives something they earned by working to offer me a service I have been using all my life. It's a drop int he bucket compared to military waste, but like typical internet Conservatives you have to attack the middle class.

That is true, plus the administration is top heavy. Also, the past several presidents have robbed their trust funds to keep the postal service near broke(that never hits the media)
My wife retired as a postal clerk a couple of years ago. Many years ago, she carried mail in St. Louis with black people who were not required to take the civil service test due to affirmative action. They were incompetant and helped to keep the postal service inefficient oftentimes.

But as I posted earlier the USPS is more efficient than years ago.

Wrong paying union wages puts financial burdens on companies

    http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/261536/union-myths-thomas-sowell

An economist at the University of Chicago called John L. Lewis “the world’s greatest oil salesman.”

His strikes that interrupted the supply of coal, as well as the resulting wage increases that raised its price, caused many individuals and businesses to switch from using coal to using oil, leading to reduced employment of coal miners. The higher wage rates also led coal companies to replace many miners with machines.

The net result was a huge decline in employment in the coal-mining industry, leaving many mining areas virtually ghost towns by the 1960s. There is no free lunch.

Similar things happened in the unionized steel industry and in the unionized automobile industry. At one time, U.S. Steel was the largest steel producer in the world and General Motors the largest automobile manufacturer. Not any more. Their unions were riding high in their heyday, but they too discovered that there is no free lunch, as their members lost jobs by the hundreds of thousands.

Pay less and let them pay more for benefits and the revenue will cover it

I know what they get paid and that they get money for 401k and pay almost nothing for great health insurance. No Business could afford to pay postal workers what they get

Sorry folks, but I see one, maybe two black people working the counter at our local USPS's around here at a time. It ain't about black or hispanic folk being given jobs. It's about the friggin' union *******s and that's it. The unions have to keep up with their racial quotas and what-not. This means making sure that they have just enough minorities to fulfill their Affirmative Action quota so that the ACLU doesn't jump all over their asses over that crap. It ain't the unions that are the problem, it's the ACLU mofos.

Obamas answer would be for the Gov to buy $3.1 billion in stamps.

Hiring people based on skin color is simply the right thing to do. I hope all the black hating racists who disagree burn in hell!

Got any source to back up all this? CEO is white , has been the last decades.

Would "white and asian" have worked any harder an thus reduced the labour costs or are you claiming white and asian workers would have wanted less pay?

No I am not blaming UPS or FedEx. My point is that folks have more options than they use to. Instead of sending packages thru the mail you can use UPS, FedEX, etc. Many people pay bills online now which means they don't buy as many stamps or don't have to go to the Post Office as much. Last time I checked that is how the Post Office makes its revenue is it not.
