US soldier self immolation outside Israeli embassy

I think it helps America's image, honestly. That a soldier felt so strongly we were doing the wrong thing that he set himself on fire. It's just one guy, but hard to grab a bigger megaphone than setting yourself on fire.

Could it help the palestinians? It could if it moves the needle on what America does, but hard to say.

 

He died fighting for what he believed in in a way that he thought would make a difference. I don't see how that shows any more mental illness than dying on the battlefield. This battlefield just looks different.

There is a huge difference. Ending ones own life does nothing for the cause. I have never seen a single post about improving the lives of the Palestinian people. Its all about blaming and hating Jews.

 

Then you haven't been paying attention. All of this is about ending the violence being committed against the Palestinians presently, and then having them treated like human beings and equals afterwards. How would that not improve their lives? They literally don't even have food to eat right now.
Very few actually hat the Jews. I certainly have nothing against Jews at all. I only have a problem with their current leaders, more worried about prolonging the conflict to stay in power rather than doing what will help their own people, as well as the Palestinians. Their present course of action will destroy Israel, form both within as well as without.

What this guy did may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, and will certainly bring much more attention to the atrocities being committed. I do not think his death will be in vain.

People on both sides of this debate are paying attention, just to different things. There was no Israeli occupation in Gaza prior to the murder, rape, kidnapping terrorist attack. The Palestinian people are being used as pawns for Jew haters.

Palestinian leaders could have planned to have food stored if they cared about their people as much as they hated Jews. In all the years and discussions, I have never seen a single post about improving the lives of the Palestinian people.

If they were so concerned with feeding their people, they would release the hostages.
