Excessive meat/fish/eggs cause health problems. "Excessive" vegetables do not. If you think that doctors have not been warning about the cholesterol and even cancer risk of too much meat, then where have you been?

You can get carbs, fat, and protein without meat.

There are also foods such as peanuts (23% protein) and Quorn (14% protein) that are relatively high in protein. For comparison, meat is about 25% protein, poultry is 11%, pork belly 9%

I am mostly vegan at home (I do eat eggs) and vegetarian when dining out. ~My home diet is dominated by quorn

I’ve never heard of Quorn, so it’s off to Google for me… Oh, it a manufactured product. I see.

I realize peanuts are high in protein. And I love them, but the important part of judging protein is that all the essential aminos be there in the right proportions. And yes, I’m aware of combing vegetable sources to mix the amino profiles: corn+beans, wheat+beans, etc.

It's also a myth that you have to combine these amino profiles all in one sitting. You can have them in separate meals and still be fine.

Yep, but as I mentioned earlier, one needs to be very careful to figure out how to get one’s aminos without over consuming calories. It certainly can be done with vegetable based protein powders though.

most plants have carbs, which convert to glucose, thus block vit c

balanced means not going for a carb heavy diet, eating meat is part of that

You don't need to eat meat to avoid a carb heavy diet. And simple carbs are typically the problem, less so complex carbs.

excessive carbs cause lots of issues

cholesterol is not the enemy you think it is, the science was flawed on that one

this is changing the views of Cholesterol, he is showing you could change your test score just based on your diet the previous 4 days to the test.... many life insurance companies use these numbers so can't imagine the science will be ignored for long

these are long and technical, but very interesting and changing how we look at Cholesterol

Excessive simple carbs certainly do. Less so complex carbs. And you don't need to eat meat to control that. Meanwhile, excessive meat isn't healthy in any situation. And, yes, excessive cholesterol is a problem.

I wonder how many centurions have lived their lives as Vegetarians. Not just changed to a Vegetarian in the past 30 years, but lived their most of their lives as a Vegetarian. Just curious.

Blocking is not the right word. That implies no vit C is absorbed which is clearly wrong. There is much higher concentration of vit c in plant products than cooked meat products so less absorption is not really a problem.

yes, one can do a keto plant based diet, but it's much harder

the biggest issue in society today is consuming too many carbs and seed oils (and eating too frequently, too many snacks, carb based drinks throughout the day)

it was a problem for the people on ships as the plants they ate were mostly grains as they stored well

blocking the absorption, were saying basically the same thing

Keto goes WAY too extreme on eliminating carbs. It is ONLY appropriate for people with specific medical conditions.

most people can not do keto, I agree, even though I believe it's the healthier diet.... just going low-carb would help

Vegan is ONLY appropriate for people with specific medical conditions. (see can make the same claim)

Low-carb is good (so is low-meat). No-carb is bad, whereas no-meat is perfectly doable.

What do you mean by grains? There is very little vit C, if any, in grains

which is why the sailors got scurvy and limes helped them

they were not eating a meat only diet, they were eating a lot of carbs, thus needed more vit c

So the solution was more plants. Glad we agree.

carnivore is fine if one can do it, keto is low carb - meat is not the issue for most people, excessive carbs and seed oil is

. . . NO plants? No. We do not agree on that. Nor does ANY doctor or nutritionist who wants to keep their license. What you are describing would be outright malpractice. If you have eliminated all plants from your diet, PLEASE consult a doctor. PLEASE. You have fallen for bull **** that rivals lunar landing deniers a Holocaust deniers in their lunacy.
