Virus death rate is .5 precent

The statement is not false. It is one method for estimating the mortality rate based on currently available data. The number of dead is also likely to be incorrect and undercounted.

Your suggestion for how to move forward is fine so long as the "with caution" aspect is detailed and enforceable. This virus is, even on the best of circumstances, still five times as deadly as the flu and much more contagious without any antiviral or vaccine currently.

Even if those people who are unlikely to face death, this virus still sucks.

Which is it?

 

New deaths per week tells you the death rate of a given cause of death. Covid-19 is definitely much more likely to kill you than a car crash right now.

 

If -you- are afraid, stay home.
Don't expect others to abide by -your- fears.

 

Staying home offers little protection when the virus is allowed to run rampant outside your door. You need to get food and gas...or have someone bring it to you.

.5% is the most common number I've seen, for quite some time. Why are you pretending that this is 1) new and 2) some kind of political victory? That's still much deadlier than the the seasonal flu, and given how contagious it is, that's really, really bad. What will it take to get you guys to acknowledge reality when it comes to this virus?

Then you should add up the numbers of a curve. That would look even more dramatic.
The number of deadly car crashes per week is low and nearly constant.
Quite different with Covid19. Here we see logistical growth.

Excellent graph. And that's with a lockdown. Now, imagine what the red curve would have looked like without the lockdown. But, but.... it's just like the flu....

 

And I'll take your religious faith into consideration. This is killing a lot of people, even compared to other diseases and common causes of death. Please stop pretending it is no big deal. Reality trumps feels.

THIS. THIS. THIS. No matter how much they downplay the facts, we need to understand that we are looking at the LOWER fatality counts for the virus. And they want us to abandon the measures that brought that number down. No sane, informed person can claim this is the equivalent of the seasonal flu. Period. No excuses.

 

Except for those of you who don't. Or those who face permanent lung damage even if they survive. All because you think your feels and your spring break (woohoo!) are more important than the lives and safety of others.

That's all nice. But the fact remains that without any action 1 million would die.
