I switched from being a conservative to being a progressive about two years ago now. I rooted for Obama in 2008, but was against ObamaCare until I realized how much insurance corporations were controlling the medical field. Anyways, I feel like Obama is going to win 2012 because of the horrible choices on the GOP side. How do you feel? I think John McCain would win if he ran again.

As much as I like Ron I do not believe any of the people up there can be the sitting pres. Unless something changes drasticly of course.

I have to say, I haven't heard of many people do that.

All of these choices presuppose the belief that the Republican field sucks. Was that intentional?

Can you come to any other conclusion? I mean realy the field is the weakest I have ever seen. (OK I am 33 so I have not seen many fields)

So... you support citizens being forced by the government to pay into that same corrupt system or face the penalty of being fined....

No really, why did you decide to become a progressive?

I think half the country has already come to another conclusion. Not sayin' they're right or wrong, but these options were apparently written without even considering the *possibility* that anyone might disagree with the OP.

Ron Paul could easily, by a sizable margin, defeat Obama.

However, he is too intellectual, rational, and moderate to be the Republican nominee, just as those traits would never secure a Democratic nomination. Just look a Obama who is neither smart nor moderate.

Ultimately I believe it will be Romney vs. Obama. As Obama's base of left wing radicals is crumbling and his shiny facade is now quite dull amongst most moderates, he is in poor shape.

Romney will squeak out an EC win by about 50 votes, say 294 to 244.

It's not perfect, but not a bad selection. Any one of them would be better than the scumbucket Obama. Four or five of them are quite capable of beating the Obamanation!

I'm pretty sure Jon Huntsman is the only one that actually believes in science openly.

Romney probably does based off of his past (real) political positions, but he's obviously more interested in holding office than he is in being ideologically consistent.

And the rest believe in some combination of subsidizing wealth, dismantling the government's most important agencies, ballooning the deficit, and crashing the economy from the combination of the above policies.

So Ron is moderate and Obama is a left wing lunatic? I really need to get that canadian visa. If this country gets anymore republican then Obama already is, I need to escape.

Romney will never be nominated because he failed the religious test for public office.

I didn't bother to vote in your loaded poll. Every GOP hopeful is infinitely better than President Osama.

I'm not sure the religious test is as important this time around. After all, Cain failed the race test and he was quite the favorite for a while there.

I just have a hard time seeing Newt get it. Maybe we're all that lucky, I don't know. But I feel like Romney has the establishment behind him too strongly for him to fail.

What about them is so appealing?

You stop short of supporting them as great candidates that elevate the Republican party, though, don't you?
All you're saying is you hate Obama.
    We knew that.

Most of the Republicans on this forum have at least 1 candidate they like. I'd hazard a guess that most of them believe that at least one of them can beat Obama.
By either measure, they don't consider this field weak. Since these questions don't allow for the possibility that they might actually be satisfied with this field, the poll is worthless.
What do you think of (insert whatever here)?
    a) it sucks
    b) it sucks, but...
    c) I don't know

^ Don't you see how absurd that looks??

Ron Paul is really the only candidate I like because he is against Civil Rights and Affirmative Action.

However am pretty sure that Romney will get the nomination and defeat Obama.

Obamas arse-kicking is probably going to be historical. It will be up there with the beatings that McGovern and Mondale received.

Am pretty sure that Obama will only win like 5 states (Hawaii, California, Illinios, and Massachusetts).

See to keep a balance in this country we need to switch of part presidents every couple times. The country would become too Liberal or too Conservative.

    Obama 2012
    Huntsman 2016

I don't disagree about the poll.
I just thought it was funny that the poster actually seemed to fit into choice two, and didn't really need a third choice.
But of course the poll is a biased political jab.

The sub-standard candidate is Obama who has screwed this country. He is trying to stop oil and coal production. The economy sucks and unemployment is high.

Obama will not win he has alienated all groups. If he thinks middle class whites are no longer relevant it shows he know nothing about this country

Nov 8, 2011 – The Obama administration cautiously offered up more areas in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska to oil and gas drilling,
