    Thank you!
The same way Europian media is fond of distorting things in Russia even much more cause Russia is giving more informational reasons.
The last news I was aware of Finland is something wrong with old Russian woman bad health treatment in Finland and repeated scandals with dividing children in joint Russian-Finn families.
    That is mostly true.
I know only one Finn in today's life - Ville Juhana Haapasalo, an actor, popular in Russia.
My buddies travel to Finland every summer, they live in forest cottages and admire such a vacation. Perfect roads, incorruptible road police, severe rules of buying alcohol, virgin nature and toilets in forests - that is what they told me about Finland. [IMG]

If Finland is unknown in Russia in what way Russian propaganda can distort things in Finland? This is unlogical. In any case I have not heard anything bad about Finland from Russian mass-media. On the contrary Finland is represented as an example of the friendly neighbour despite of the former misunderstanding.

A Brit, a Frenchman and a Russian are viewing a painting of Adam and Eve frolicking in the Garden of Eden.

“Look at their reserve, their calm,” muses the Brit. “They must be British.”

“Nonsense,” the Frenchman disagrees. “They’re naked, and so beautiful. Clearly, they are French.”

“No clothes, no shelter,” the Russian points out, “they have only an apple to eat, and they’re being told this is paradise. They are Russian.”

    If I look at Russia without including politics;

First of all I'll give you a typcial Turkish answer: There are very very very beautiful and attractive Russian women out there :3

And the other thing I know about Russia is, there are many Turkic people/nation living there. You know Chuvashs, Bashkorts, Tatars, Tuvans, Yakuts etc....

I also read(ed) books like Crime and Punisment and Dead Souls. They were insteresting to read.

It is one of countries that I'll visit in future since I study maritime and to learn more about Russia and Russian culture. ;)

We in the so called "West" owe Russia an incalculable debt of gratitude for saving our arses from Nazis.

    Thank you very much!
It doesn't happen very often to meet a "West" person who would understand it.
Soviets fighted 80% of Nazi Germany forces in the East Front.

I think Britons and Americans should know better - what Modern Russian writers have had their work translated into English. We dont. As to me I like Prokhanov but I do not know how much he is known in English-speaking countries. I suspect nobody translates him as he is not from liberal party. But he is widely read and is very authoritative writer in Russia. I tried to translate one of his small articles here. http://www.politicalforum.com/russia-eastern-europe/146713-gkchp-instrument-murder.html But you have read it already.

The most known his novels - "The Last soldier of empire", "Red - brown", "Mister Hexogen".

The other side of the coin is that if Hitler did not attack the USSR in 1941, the next year all the west would be singing this song.

I think the view on Russian women through a men's magazine is very narrow:
    take a pick:

Ostap, even the bitterest enemies of Russia, communism or "putinism" didn't have doubt about Russia's significant culture.
A person must be completely stupid or dishonest to disclaim its' presence and valuable contribution to world culture.
Don't know what of these personal qualities fits you most.

Go on amusing us.......................... John! [IMG]

That was the forced reason that made GB, France and Poland not to sign ally treaty against Nazi Germany introduced by the USSR in March of 1939.
GB's politics aim was to direct Hitler's aggression to the East.

But it is the topic of a separate discussion that I'll eagerly take part in.

I state facts. I am glad you agree with the fact stated.

As to the joke you are making how GB and France forced Stalin to make over 20,000 tanks, train millions paratroopers, Voroshilov’s sharp shooters, etc, I don’t mind to continue on the Humor & Satire sub-forum, if you are so eager.

Well, it's an open question and can cover anything...
I'm familiar with the literature, religion, architecture, culture and tradition in general...politics more or less.Politics is harder to follow because of the international one which varies and changes due to external factors a lot...

I didn't say I agree with your supposition that Europe would have to sing communistic songs if Hitler wouldn't "save" it with his invasion to the USSR. It's just a false selfexcuse not more.

I see nothing amusing in discussing pre-worldwar situation.
Where in the hell did you find "millions of Stalin's paratroopers"? At the same place where other europians find "millions of millions murdered personally by Stalin"?

    http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%BE%D0%B7%D0%B4%D1%83%D1%88%D0%BD%D0%BE-%D0%B4%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%82%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9_%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BF%D1%83%D1%81_(%D0%A1%D0%A1%D0%A1%D0%A0)

It means 100 000 paratroopers. Is that enough to talk about the threat to Britain?

You did not disagree and did not bring any countarguments. I did not ever mean or say "saved"

You are not saying you disagree. By all means of an intelligent conversation it means my statement stands as true.
It means 15,000 even in Commie propaganda.

I wonder, in Commie propaganda how many paratroopers all the west plus the US together had before 1941 to counter Stalin,s let say 100, 000?

I wonder, in Commie propaganda How many tanks all the west plus the US together had before 1941 vs 20000 Stalin's tanks? How many heavy tanks? how many amfibious tanks, how many diesel engine tanks? How many tanks with a cannon 75mmm and up? How many tanks capable of speed of 30km/hour and up?

If I not attack you, it doesn't mean I approve you.
Or you distinguish only "black" and "white", no other "colours"?

When you talk about "commie propaganda" you place yourself behind such not respected poorly educated persons as Bender and numvet.
What "commie propaganda"? COMMUNISM as a political system HAS ENDED IN RUSSIA 20 YEARS AGO.
Is Wikipedia a Commie propaganda? I took the link from there, go try and find any sort of communistic agitation there, I would be deeply surprized if you find.
If you don't trust Wikipedia try to persuade me with another source, but don't try to fool the forum-users by stupid slogans as "millions of paratroopers" and "Commie propaganda".
