Two weeks is not enough. It takes one week just to get the test results in. So the number won't start going down because of the closing until at least a week after it actually does. It takes a week or more for most people to start experiencing symptoms to the point where they get tested. And at least (at a bare minimum) another two weeks for the results to start showing significant change in a graph. Look at the Florida Map above. Florida reopened on May 2. For the above reasons, the adverse effects didn't start showing until over a month later. This also applies the other way around.

Most of the states that are now doing the worst started opening in early May. I opened a thread based on AI modeling that predicted that if we had just waited three more weeks before starting to reopen, we would have seen the last infection in this country occurring around September 9. And Trump would have had a great opportunity to take credit (despite his not having done anything) and maybe even get re-elected. Unfortunately his lapdog governors and state Congress' dropped the ball by doing what he wanted them to do.

Each state controls there own voting, Dirty Donald can go pound sand, if voting by mail is good enough for him add his press secretary it's good enough for me. It has all the same security features that voting at the polling both has.

 

Ok where did you get this info? I see you posted a link to PF lol. Let's go back to the beginning, masks aren't useful. then they were and then they weren't. Nobody knows exactly what to do. Wear mask, social distance and open everything up! Our economy depends on it.

The point was WHY the admin votes by mail, if even that's what they do. The safety of the pres comes to mind.

 

Latest word now from CDC and WHO is that at least 40% of the population are asymptomatic spreaders of Covid, who have the disease and spread it while showing little to no symptoms themselves.

 

If someone needs to vote by mail there is an Absentee Ballot option. Each State has it.

 

That's not the fault of closing. That's the fault of the pandemic. The pandemic is the disease.

We close only when it's necessary. And it's necessary only when people refuse to wear a mask and keep social distancing.

If we don't do that, so many people will die or become ill that those who have not been infected are afraid to go out and participate in the economy. Understand? We are a consumption economy. We gain nothing with opening businesses if people aren't going to buy anything.

I understand but my point was 61 falcon was complaining that if absentee or mail in voting was good enough for Trump then it's good enough for everybody. My point was Trump and the admin isn't just an ordinary citizen.

 

You have an almost child-like concept of reality. It's not like Covid 19 sprung up, and we "magically" knew everything about it. Not how it works....This is how it really works: something new happens, we don't know anything about it, we learn about it, and then we know.

We know now many things we didn't know four or five months ago. For example: we know that wearing a mask is VITAL. We know now that everybody has to wear it. And we know that the more people there are who refuse to wear a mask, the more time it will take us to come to the point where we can open more things.

So you are either one of those who helps in opening the economy sooner by wearing a mask. Or you are one that delays opening by not wearing a mask.

Which one are you?

I do as I always have- I wear a mask when its required by law to do so, and I avoid even that as much as possible.

...and since the law doesnt specify a required material, I'm making one out of chainmail for maximum breathability, comfort and style.

What Trump does was never and is never going to effect what I do. I am my own person, not looking for a role model or someone to emulate... I'm no more likely to wear a mask because Trump does than I am to wear a suit because Trump does or to play tennis because Trump does or etc.

No! Absolutely not!

People who can't restrain themselves from, through their actions, putting the life of others at risk, can be declared legally incompetent, by which they legally lose their right to make such decisions on their own. But since there is no time to go through the judicial process (this is a national health emergency) it must be done by forcing them to stop their dangerous actions.

No! If you are incapable of restraining yourself from taking irresponsible actions that can kill people, you are the one who needs to be locked up. Not me.

Dr. Fauci in the beginning. Then he said it was because he didn't want a run on the masks be cause of the health workers. Then he said we need to wear masks! He lied, is he to be believed now?
