So you don't want your surgeon wearing a mask, since it doesn't do anything, right?

Your logic is people who don't behave in a way that protects others are apt to those that do not tell potential sexual partners that they have an STD. In 2019, nearly 40,000 people died from car accidents. If no one drove, those 40,000 people would still be alive-- or at least they would not be dead from car accidents. According to your logic, everyone that drives is the type of person that does not tell a potential sexual partner that they have an STD. See how bad you logic is? You need to argue better.

Nah - you are dead wrong. Yes, people die in accidents, but almost nobody gets in their car intending to get into an accident and hurt other people. Most people following traffic signage and do everything in their power to get to their destination safely, without harming others.

So if you are in a car, it's not in your best interest to cause an accident, because you might harm yourself. It's not very selfish to try to avoid accidents.

It is VERY selfish to say that wearing a mask to help others is a problem, because wearing a mask isn't fun. Well, wearing a shirt in 105 degree weather isn't fun for me, but I do it anyway.

No shirt, no shoes, no service.... no problem.

    Add a mask? Muh freedom!!!

There's a twofold reason why surgeons wear masks. First, they wears masks to prevent germs from their mouths entering the inside of patients, which are typically protected from their skin. Second, surgeons wear masks to protect themselves from blood splatter. The science of surgeons wearing masks is well-grounded and is not comparable to wearing masks to prevent transmission of the Chinese Virus.

Yes. How DARE millions of people around the world get sick, on purpose, to hurt Trump. Those half million dead so far? So selfish.

BTW - I seriously doubt we are out of this thing before Spring. Especially in the states. We'd be open a lot more if people were taking it seriously. That goes for people refusing to wear a mask, social distance, riot, protest, attend political rallies, attend "let's get covid," parties - all of them are hurting our ability to re-open.

Oh - silly me. I thought we were wearing masks to slow the transmission of germs flying out of our mouths towards other people.

I'm seeing the light! Hundreds of millions of people around the world are wearing masks to hurt Trump. Lulz.

The underlying logic of your argument is that people who do not wear masks are intentionally trying to infect others. I would say that most people who do not wear masks are not trying to transmit a virus that they may not even have to other people, just like most people who accidentally kill people in car accidents probably did not intend to kill someone that day.

    Except you are wrong, again.

People who aren't wearing masks are literally saying that they won't wear one because they have no responsibility to their fellow humans. They ARE intentionally trying to infect others. Masks don't offer 100% protection. This is true. They also don't offer ZERO protection. What harm to wear a mask to help us from infecting so many people?

To even consider that the initial mask recommendations were based on a bad guess vs outright lie is silly.

It's a virus. We've had them before, ni reason to believe that it's some kind of new mask proof virus (which they actually are)

The stakes are much higher if you are breathing onto someone's uncovered liver as opposed to in someone's face. Surgeons also wear gloves and use sterilized equipment. Should we all do likewise, too? In short, it's a harebrained analogy. The skin acts as part of the immune system, as it is a physical barrier that acts as a barricade to environmental pathogens infecting the organ system. The people most likely to die from the Chinese Virus are people with compromised immune systems. So instead of wearing a mask until the day that a vaccine is invented, which may never happen, be practical by building up your immune system by eating right and working out, instead of forcing others to wear a mask.

It's an impractical concept to wear a mask till the day that a vaccine is invented, which may never come. A better solution would be to eat right and work out. Protect your immune system, since the only people dying from this thing are people with compromised immune systems.

We've shut down gyms, which helps people improve their immune systems. It's nonsensical to shut down facilities which literally (see, I am using the word correctly) improve people's health during a health crisis! Nor is it fair to those who've paid gym memberships, and now are denied its service to their health.

Am I the only one that has noticed that they never seem to mention obesity is an underlying condition?

Hell they barely mention age anymore, except when saying "young"

    Not unless he's performing surgery.

...are you expecting I'll be performing surgery?

Trump doesn't listen to experts unless it benefits him personally in some way, I would not put this past Trump, the economy was on the verge of a recession\depression and everyone knew it, Trump would destroy every Business in America if he thought he could push the crash until after the election

once he got the money he wanted, the push to reopen was on

No. Our f-upped response to the pandemic is killing our economy and will continue to kill the economy until we get a handle on it.

We won’t get a handle on it. Help is not coming this year from the FED or many governors.

Wear your masks and keep your distance because you’re on your own. I sincerely hope you’ve got a rainy day fund because the pennies they throw at us won’t be enough to get you through.

What do you think we know about the particle size masks can filter out and the size of corona viruses and saliva and mucous droplets that we didn’t know before? Do we know the infectious dose? Basically we don’t know anything today that would suggest use of masks that couldn’t have been figured out with information we had in February. This excuse for the lie about early mask usage doesn’t fly.

And the reason dental hygienists where a mask? The only risk is germs in the nose & mouth, after all. Hmmmm. Ponderous thoughts as to mask use.

We have evidence that masks work. But, keep on doing you. Every time you go in public without a mask, you prove to your fellow citizens that you are not a fan of science.

Sorry, why are all the medical staff in hospitals wearing masks their entire shift? Is it to help perpetuate a hoax?

    Duh.... maskholes everywhere.

OK. So now you're moving away from the boneheaded comparison of a surgeon wearing a mask to now that of a dental hygienist. Dental hygienist wear masks to prevent the splashing and splattering of blood on the eyes, nose, and mouth. So although not as dumb of an analogy, at least less dumb. Good job. Here's a cookie.

I can't argue about this with you. I like Mark Twain. He has sage advice.

“Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
