Yes, we can prove that god does not exist.

Since it is wrong, what would be the urgency to disclaim it. You are thinking from a flawed perspective. It is not incumbent upon God/Jesus to clearify every question you have.

Humanism likely justifies government taking away natural rights. As far as I have found Jesus wants us to treat others as ourselves, help the truly needy and live moral lives. Humanism likely condones abortions, perversions and forced redistribution.

Jesus was more about breaking up families, as Jesus (allegedly) tried hard to break up families.....so Jesus was a bad person:

Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. He has "come not to send peace, but a sword." Mt 10:34-36

Jesus warns us not to love our parents or children too much. We have to make sure that we always love him (who we don't even know existed) more than our family. Mt 10:37

When Jesus' mother and brothers want to see him, Jesus asks, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" So much for Jesus' family values. Mt 12:47-49

Abandon your wife and children for Jesus and he'll give you a big reward. Mt 19:29

No, Jesus ACCEPTED slavery, so he didn't understand proper morality, at least not to the level we do today....for his time he might have been good, but not for modern times, at least not as much as we are capable of doing today. Like Mohammad, he may have only been a good role model for the time he lived in.

Again, there is no absolute proof of age to 6000 years. Science is filled with speculation upon some factual evidence. Biblically, the earth changed dramatically due to the flood. We cannot know what might have or not have happened at that time. The bible states that humans life spans changed. We are not capable of proving or disproving any possibility of effect God can cause to the earth. 14C cannot factually prove the long term.

From my reading of the bible, my understanding was that slavery in general was voluntary servitude to pay debts. The bible states in Proverbs that the borrower is slave to the lender.

If I was god, I would have simply told us how old the earth is (with scientific accuracy - he's all-powerful he could do that), to avoid all this incredible confusion that we've had.

    - - - Updated - - -

So then we can both agree that if the Bible says that you can beat a slave, and it's ok as long as he doesn't die w/in 48 hours, that the bible was much more brutal than the people in general at the time (since slavery was "voluntary servitude to pay debts"), correct?

    - - - Updated - - -

I'd obviously be a better "god" than Jesus because if I had those super-powers I'd come down at least every decade and try to educate humanity, to clear up all this confusion, since, uh, we really don't know what the hell the Bible is saying (well at least we know very very little.) I bet the best teacher you had in school (think back on who that was) would do that, correct? If so, then that great teacher cares for you more than Jesus does. Jesus is not great.

Jesus told people to leave families which demanded that they stop saying that Truth is Lord.

He also told them that the end was very near, too, because the Jews did not believe in Truth as the mediator into Reality.
In 70 AD, all families saw Jesus was correct.

    Humanism is OK.
Freedom is not a Humanists, though
Humanists believe in a Peak Mystic Experience as a part of the fifteen characteristics of sanity.

Freedom denies this because it opposes his Gay agenda as harmful to kids.

I understand that the bible and Christianity leave reasonable questioning to its validity. My point in this thread is that you cannot factually prove that God and his salvation plan are not true. As with the old game of pass the word, the bible could be a some what distortion of Gods inspiration. While I do not believe it is word for word from God, I do believe it contains the essential message God wants us to know.

    LOL
You would have written a Bible that you wanted everyone to read for thousands of years,... but said the unbelievable truth that six long eras of time on the Geological Clock amounted to billions of years gone by???
    Really?

It says that Truth gets rejected because people love the lies which allow bad things to become a Reality.

Gay agendas supported by Freedom don't like this.
They reject it so Gayness can preach promiscuity as safe fun.

A power greater than ourselves created the big bang and sparked life thus setting in motion evolution. What is that power greater than ourselves? Some call it God while others call it mother nature, while others say heck if they know, none of which prove or disprove God.

That would be a good argument if the only God worshiped by humanity was the God of Abraham. This proves that humanity can be pretty gullible.

It proves that you and I among others do not believe that the God of the Bible exists. If you are still trying to change the minds of Christians then you are engaged in an exercise in futility.

I bet my pet Golden Retriever is a better communicator than the "infallible" "god" is.

Every time I look in the mirror I see that Christians CAN grow, since I used to be one.

So basically, it was impossible for the God, for whom nothing is impossible, to inspire men to write an accurate bible.

You are correct, as I have only proven that the god of the Bible does not exist, NOT that any other god does not exist.

And it takes an open mind for the mind to change. But none the less I would like to get your take on the first point I made in this thread that being: A power greater than ourselves created the big bang and sparked life thus setting in motion evolution. What is that power that is greater than ourselves?

And what are you teaching now other than 'fear that which the Christians teach'?

    It was accurate.
It was amazingly accurate in fact.

Gen 1:9 described Pangea before we even hypothesized the idea in 1920.

Gen. 1:9 And (Reality), God, said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, (Panthalassa), and let (Pangea), the dry land appear:
(composed of the Seven Large Tectonic Plates:
    1. North American Plate,
    2. Pacific Plate,
    3. South American Plate,
    4. African Plate,
    5. Eurasian Plate,
    6. Antartic Plate,
    7. Australian Plate),
    ...and it was so.

Here is what Jesus actually is recorded as saying:

Luke 14:26 Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple.

    Made sense to you...?

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you, (who shall be martyred like myself).

You have not proven it to me. You have proven that some Christians have and have had some very silly beliefs, but this does not prove that the God of Christianity does not exist as the Bible was written by fallible man and not the Christian God. Just because humans can come up with some strange ignorance based views of God does not mean that there is no God.

It's possible that "universes", over untold numbers of years, slowly collapse (yeah, we're talking an amount of time that we might not be able to really get our head around yet), and then start over again, in an (endless?) cycle. So no magic man in the sky would be needed for that, just "natural" occurances. But that's just speculation - equal in validity to the speculation that Jesus' slave-loving dad did it.

I don't know, and you don't know, so let's not just say the cop-out that "god did it"....that's how Modern Secular Humanists roll.

All I'm saying is that the specific god described in the Bible has been proven to be false by science, nothing beyond that.
