NO, I've seen it for years because there are "people' who want it overturned and women enslaved like cattle...
""""Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a fetal heartbeat law on Wednesday that includes an interesting twist or two. The bill bans abortion the moment a fetal heartbeat is detected. The law allows private citizens to file civil lawsuits against abortion providers as well as those who “aid or abet” the procedure in violation of the ban. Instead of having the government enforce the law, the bill turns the reins over to private citizens — who are empowered to sue abortion providers or anyone who helps someone get an abortion after a fetal heartbeat has been detected. The person would not have to be connected to someone who had an abortion or to a provider to sue. While abortion providers typically sue the state to stop a restrictive abortion law from taking effect, there’s no state official enforcing Senate Bill 8 — so there’s no one to sue. Planned Parenthood can’t go to court and sue Attorney General Ken Paxton like they usually would because he has no role in enforcing the statute. They have to wait to be sued by a citizen."""" We now can get by with murder if no one sues us for it....HILARIOUS!!!!! No, the bloody governor wants it both ways....ban abortion, make women's lives hell, but don't look like the bad guy by executing or jailing for life people he deems murderers because it'll look bad !
"The Constitution is what the judges say it is." --Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes The Constitution is our defense against the kind of hate demonstrated in your post.
Both sides claim the moral high ground -- abortion opponents say it's murder -- so get off your high horse. That's why, as a practical matter, it should be left to the states. I do not agree that abortion opponents would steamroll pro-choice states.
Slavery is a very entrenched human institution. There are apparently more slaves in the world now than before the Civil War, and they can be bought for far less. "Slavery Is Everywhere There are tens of millions of people trapped in various forms of slavery throughout the world today. Researchers estimate that 40 million are enslaved worldwide, generating $150 billion each year in illicit profits for traffickers. • Labor Slavery. About 50 percent toil in forced labor slavery in industries where manual labor is needed—such as farming, ranching, logging, mining, fishing, and brick making—and in service industries working as dish washers, janitors, gardeners, and maids. • Sex Slavery. About 12.5 percent are trapped in forced prostitution sex slavery. • Forced Marriage Slavery. About 37.5 percent are trapped in forced marriages. • Child Slavery. About 25 percent of today’s slaves are children. • Slavery today is a hidden crime, making it harder for the public to see and for those in slavery to call out for help. Slavery statistics come from the U.N. International Labor Organization, Walk Free and the International Organization for Migration. See our Trafficking and Slavery Fact Sheet for details." https://www.freetheslaves.net/our-model-for-freedom/slavery-today/
That is true, abortion(bodily autonomy) should be legal and not need protection...however the REALITY is that it is being attacked....the attackers are the poison. Without them there is no issue.
Not only is it hidden, it’s right in plain sight in the US. There are about the same number of slaves (legal under the constitution) in the US today as existed legally under the constitution in 1840 in the US. But since it’s regulated and implemented by government few notice or care. We are consuming products and services resulting from slavery today just like anyone using cotton or tobacco benefited from slavery in the 1800’s. On the bright side, slavery is less race based today. About 25% of male slaves are white now and almost 50% of female slaves are white. Oh, and the rapes are mostly perpetrated by fellow slaves instead of freemen. There’s always a way to justify slavery. We always will.
There is a fundamental difference of principle on this question, which is why it cannot be resolved comprehensively at the national level. Your insistence on the slavery analogy is ironic because abortion opponents see themselves as the descendants of abolitionists, and pro-choice advocates as murderers. That kind of rhetorical overkill is the result of Roe.
That is true. It’s handy we can just make new laws to create more lawbreakers to feed the system of slavery. Very clever play by government and “plantation” owner mentality types. Very clever. Infinite supply of legal slaves most don’t even know exist! Very clever indeed.
You don't agree they would steamroll them because you are counting on them doing just that. You know that I know that and all god's chillun know that. Please don't insult our intelligence by maintaining you are pro-choice The State by State thing is extremely unfair anyway. What if a woman is too poor to travel what may be several thousand miles and spend several days away from her work, she's just supposed to have the kid anyway right? Are only rich people entitled to have just the children they really want or what? Having an abortion is a fundamental human right and our Federal system guarantees fundamental human rights, that's why we have a Constitution and it has a Supremacy Clause. Again, if our fundamental rights are a State consideration why did we have the most fatal war in our history over slavery? If you honestly think that the children people are forced to have will somehow always be brought up in a loving and functional home despite the amazingly obvious logical inconsistency this entails I think you should be limited to moral suasion in enforcing an idea that patently absurd. Having laws that seem to have no other purpose than to ruin the lives of all involved (and this ESPECIALLY includes the child) when a pregnancy is involved that offends someone's hidebound religious strictures is repugnant to the very idea of a free country or even a logical one.
What fundamental difference of principle is that? Having an abortion is a fundamental human right and so is the right not to be enslaved.
Oh?, well, I got news for you...lots convicts are human with family and friends and lawyers and lots of kind decent people who care about them.... Even women convicts in prison for "murdering" an embryo...
We disagree. I am pro-choice and have been for about 25 years. If that makes you uncomfortable that is not my problem. The word "fair" appears nowhere in the Constitution. The slavery argument cuts both ways -- abortion opponents see themselves as latter day abolitionists. The nature of homes in which children will be brought up is unknowable.
From your #66: ". . . religious fanaticism has always poisoned us throughout our history. Religion hates freedom, we should have forbidden its organized expression from the beginning." Convicted by your own words.
