A Gut Check For The Religious

Atheism has 2 paths. The first path is one of oblivion in which existence is ultimately meaningless. The second is the path to becoming gods ourselves. Neither one of these paths disproves the existence of gods, and one directly validates the existence of gods by becoming one. Our ability and drive as a species to defy everything we see as an obstacle is the stuff that creators are made of. It is with this logic that atheism is a self defeating philosophy in every way imaginable.

Either atheists use science to develop godlike beings eventually or you believe in the utter death of the universe due to expansion and heat death. These are the ONLY two possibilities that atheism lead to. If you have another please list them instead of mocking the binary nature of things. You cannot escape it.

 

If it suits you to make up things for others to believe or think about, I guess that is ok.
What ever. If you have a god who keeps track, maybe he will find it ok too.

I do know of course that you fundies treasure any chance to feel you have been "mocked".

I've often wondered what it is about the fundy that they think in binary terms. Sure, some things are inherently binary, but the fundy seems to see everything that way. Any idea why?

Your "only two possibilities" are just your own rather odd fantasy. Becoming a godlike being does not even make sense nor does it in any way relate to the "utter death of the universe" which is, btw, not the only possibility for the future.

It is rather simple Taikoo the universe IS expanding this is not even a question it is a scientific fact. IF expansion continues all galaxies will experience heat death and the utter annihilation of ALL information including any evidence you ever existed. The ONLY way to escape this is to obviously either leave the universe for greener pastures or somehow reverse the expansion mechanism to restart the system in another big bang, which would annihilate any history you ever existed as well. The universe either contracts or expands, there is no 3rd option it is binary by nature. The Mandlebrot set visually explains how infinity and the finite can be contained within a mathematical set, once again a binary function. In the near future, using binary code enhanced by quantum information theory will bring about virtual realities that are indistinguishable from "reality". You may experience the illusion of magnitude or a perceived spectrum of choices but in reality they are merely shades of a binary function.

PS. I am not a "fundie" nor do I believe in a christ god or mohammed. I merely reflect on reality and the nature of being.

PSS. It is only between two points of reference, better known as a binary function that infinity can exist. This is a fact. There is no way to express the idea of infinity without TWO points of reference. The finite and infinity are two sides of the same coin one cannot exist without the other, it is the nature of things.

But isn't my Conscience pretty much like everyone elses' since we seem to relate to conscientious behavior?

What I mean is that, we commonly say, "Let your conscience be your guide."
We talk about Jimmie Cricket.
We all seem to have a very similar idea of what good conscience dictates, more or less the Golden Rule.


This entity we discuss so casually when consider as a part of every generation, a collective kind of concept that is found in every human generation, takes on the kind of idea we mean about a god that never is absent from the human experience, and awaits the arrival of every new baby.
There is this "Social Conscience" that we recognize and even add to while we live, and know will remain with our kids when we die.

Social Conscience is like the invisible Good Shepherd that realized that Rev Martin Luther King was right, sadly, after he was murdered.
