Durandal - please: I'm everything else than a moralist. If you like you can speak about every problem with me. I'm maybe not able to help you - but if you like - and only in this case - I will do what I can do to find someone who is able to help you in the near of the place where you are living. You don't have to live with your problems alone - you don't have to carry your problems alone.

I'm using the english language because this is an english forum and not a german forum.

Sorry to everyone who speaks not German - but it was faster to use the german language now, because I try to help my fellow citizen to try to become a serios human being again.

Judaism seems to be a religion that broadly rejects dogma (it seems to me anyway) in favour of critical thinking. But is there a limit to what is acceptable in critical thinking about the religion?

On one hand - yes...
On the other hand - no...
And, on the Gripping hand - maybe...
One Jew - three opinions (it's actually "two Jews, three opinions," but...)

I'll try and give a cogent answer but, I may not succeed.
As I noted before, Judaism has both the Written Torah and the Oral Torah.
The Oral Torah was given to Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses) on Mt. Sinai along with the Written Torah, also known as the (First) Five Books of Moses.
The Written Torah is what is familiar to most people.
The Oral Torah is the Explanation of the Written Torah.
This is the main difficulty that people have in trying to understand scripture or the Torah.
Without the Oral Torah the Written Torah makes no sense....

"Remember My Sabbath and Keep it Holy." How? Doing or not doing what? When? Where? Etc...
"Thou shalt do no Work." What does that mean? What is defined as "Work?" Who gets to decide? Etc...

So - this Oral Torah along with Tanach (the rest of the "old testament") is passed on for over a thousand years. Then with the destruction of the 2nd Temple, the Great Scholars and Teachers of Torah realized that the Oral Torah was in danger of being lost and confused.
So, they spent a couple of hundred years discussing and recording all of the teachings and arguments of the Oral Torah called the Mishna and Gemora; compiled in the Talmud.
However, as G-d specifically gave Man - Scholars; Learned Men - the authority to decide Jewish Law, the discussions have continued for the last 2,000 years.
Every letter; every line; every idea; every permutation of the Torah; the Oral Torah; and Jewish Law, has been discussed and analyzed in the most minute detail.

Which brings me to your question.
There is no limit to critical analysis as long as it follows the rules (of which there are very specific and, for the purposes of this discussion, not easily comprehensible) of "critical analysis" of the Torah.
So, yes, there are limits.
A brief example - the Rambam, Rabbi Moses Maimonides, who lived in the 12th Century, is considered one of the most brilliant Torah scholars who ever lived. He wrote and analyzed extensively and much of his works are incorporated into Jewish Law.
However - shortly after his death, there were Great Rabbis who condemned his writings and, at one point, there was a public "book burning" of his manuscripts.
Why?
Mainly because he did not cite his sources! So... it was as if he was just practicing "deduction" and/or creative analysis that simply came from his own thoughts as opposed to 2,000 plus years of Torah.
Future generations did, indeed, source his material and, as time went on, his true brilliance in Torah Learning was confirmed.

The bottom line is that unless an individual is, indeed, a learned Torah scholar who has truly studied Torah, whatever "critical analysis" he gives over is not going to be regarded as being based on the Torah.
Then again, if a person is correct in their Learning and "analysis," even though it might take a hundred years or so, their Learning will eventually be incorporated into Jewish Law -
(except for those Jews who disagree!)

I'm not looking at it from a perspective of what's enough. Disproportionate numbers of Jews being successful at whatever they do, and the association with money-lending, is more relevant today as to why some folk hate, or at least are suspicious of Jews nowadays, than is being blamed for killing Jesus. I've argued on this very forum with someone who believes the Rothschilds own the US Federal Reserve, and others think Jews control the US government, but as you say, Christians generally don't blame Jews for killing Jesus anymore.

Besides, this might make some Christians less defensive, as you'll have noticed that some Christians perceive mention of any historical fact which portrays Christianity in a negative light, to be an attack on Christianity.

I was wrong in thinking the verse equates killing someone or saving a life with ''100 lives,'' it's ''all mankind.''

http://www.alim.org/library/quran/a...-allah-regarding-the-killing-of-a-human-being

I'm not sure which Hadith you're referring to, with regard to Muslims killing Jews, but if it's the one Hamas has in their charter then it's supposed to describe a future event, something about judgement day. It's not a general instruction.

Again though, this is specifically about Zionist Jews. Jews lived throughout the middle east for centuries, in relative peace. The trouble didn't start until Zionist Jews started immigrating from Europe to Palestine.

The British and French dividing the middle east up, setting one religion against another, Sunnis against Shiites etc, then installing puppet dictators in the new states instead of giving the Arabs self-rule like they promised them, would certainly have gone a long way to stirring up trouble. But I don't see why the British would have put the Grand Mufti up to inciting anti-Jewish riots in Palestine. In would have been in the interests of the British for everyone to live peacefully. They cooperated with the Haganah for many years, and only allowed the small Arab coalition irregular army to operate in Palestine in the final months of the mandate. Since by that time the British had more or less given up trying to keep the peace, the Zionists had an effective military force, and the Palestinians were more or less defenseless.

Apart from the pogrom in Iraq in 1942, which the British are suspected of having provoked as an excuse to invade Baghdad and re-install the pro-British dictator who had just been overthrown, most of the problems between gentiles and Jews in the middle east were in Palestine. Not until the Jews in Palestine begin expelling Palestinians from their land and homes, did most Arabs in other countries in the middle east, Christians as well as Muslims, turn against their own Jewish populations.

While Christians in eastern Europe blamed Jews for communism, and in some countries welcomed the Nazi invaders as liberators; the Nazis blamed Jews for a decline in what they perceived to be ''Christian family values'' etc in Germany, the Versailles Treaty and the effect it had on Germany, unnamed Jews controlling Churchill and Roosevelt from ''behind the scenes,'' and unnamed ''international Jewish financiers'' for starting wars, none of that seems relevant to Muslim culture nowadays.

As far as I can tell, the vast majority of anti-semitism by Muslims still relates to Israel. Most of which of course isn't anti-semitism, it's anti-Israel. Iran is the most outspoken critic of Israel, and the biggest population of Jews in the middle east outside of Israel, live in Iran. In Israel and the occupied territories, it's not about Jews and Christians against Muslims, it's about Jews against Muslims and Christians. Can you cite a few of these ''virulently Antisemitic philosophies of Naziism and Stalinism'' which you would claim have been incorporated into Muslim culture?

So you want answer my question about G-D and I have just had it back from a proper source that you are utterly full of Sh1t. Mot that I have any intention of becoming a jew in any way shape or form but the Orthodox rabbi says that any daughter of any jew is automatically a jew and her daughter and so on and that I was a Jew in their eyes whether I want to be one or not ( I have no intention).

So you are a fake or ignorant

Again, as your original question was stated - no, according to Jewish Law, you aren't Jewish. It would seem that might make you happy as opposed to annoyed. But, whatever floats your boat.

I don't care either way .It has no effect on my life but someone who is verifiably an Orthodox rabbi has informed me otherwise. FYI he was from the Chabad house in Bangkok.

So since you made such an ugly reply of 'no thank god' I justly call you out as a fraud.

So, then the Tradition of the Seven Miracles by which Judaism deems we will recognize the Elijah when he returns is as valid as the Torah...

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=245&letter=E&search=elijah miracles#650

The Seven Miracles.
But he will do more than this,...

1) Both Elijah and Christ raised the dead:

1 Kings 17:22.. And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

John 12:1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where .Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2) Both Elijah, who never dies, and Christ were immortal:

2 Kings 2:1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal

John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

3) Both Elijah and Christ. ascended into Heaven before witnesses:

2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. .
12..And Elisha saw it,.

Luke 24:.51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven

4) Both Elijah and Christ troubled Israel:

1 Kings 18:17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

Matthew 2:3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born..

5) Both Elijah and Christ were threatened by the authorities with death:

1 Kings 19:14.. And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of ..I..srael have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and .I. .even I only .am .left..; and they seek my life, to take it away

John 11:53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death

6) Both Elijah and Christ.... were hunted by the Jewish authorities:

1 Kings 19:14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

7) Both Elijah and Christ.... hid in a cave/tomb:

1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth...

8) Both Elijah and Christ pondered in the wilderness 40 days and forty nights:....

1 Kings 19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God

Matthew 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

9) Both Elijah and Christ. walked on across the water

2 Kings 2:8.. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground

Matthew 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea

10) Both Elijah and Christ let a person follow them across the water:

2 Kings 2:14.. And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over

Matthew 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

11) Both Elijah and Christ.... wrote only one thing, a letter, to people on Earth AFTER they had ascended:

2 Chronicles 21:12 And there came a writing to him from ..Elijah.. the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

12) Both Elijah and Christ appointed a successor, Elisha, by Elijah, and Peter, by Christ:

2 Kings 2:9.. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And ..Elisha.. said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me

Matthew 16:18.. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this .rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

13) Both Elijah and Christ gave a successor the power to raise the dead:

2 Kings 8:5.. And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom ..Elisha.. restored to life.
Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and ..prayed..; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up

14) Both Elijah and Christ gave a successor the power to heal:

2 Kings 5:10.. And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk

15) Both Elijah and Christ gave a successor a symbolic authority, the cloak to one, the keys to the other:

1 Kings 19:19.. So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

Matthew 16:19.. And I will give unto thee the keys.of the kingdom.. of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven

16) Both Elijah and Christ. asked that the this "cup" be taken from them:

1Kings 19:4 .But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die (because he was afraid of what was coming from Jezebel: [1Kings 19:3]), and said, "It is enough (they seek my life, to take it away: [1Kings 19:10]); now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers."

Matthew 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, (because he began to show grief and distress of mind and was deeply depressed: [Matt 26:37]), let this cup pass from me (It is enough: [1Kings 19:4]): nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

17) Both Elijah and Christ had miraculous births:

Jewish Encyclopedia:
Three different theories regarding Elijah's origin are presented in the Haggadah: Mention must be made of a statement which, though found only in the later cabalistic literature (Yal?u? Reubeni, Bere(*)(*)(*)(*), 9a, ed. Amsterdam), seems nevertheless to be very old (see Epiphanius, l.c.), and according to which Elijah was an angel in human form, so that he had neither parents nor offspring.
See also Melchizedek.

Matthew1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

18) Both Elijah and Christ destroyed pagan worshippers and priests. Elijah destroyed the priests of Baal; Christ, the Pantheon of Rome, 380AD:

IKi 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

History: Universal Christianity in 380AD:
Revelation 20:4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.
They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years (32AD -1054AD)

19) Both Elijah and Christ were promised faithfulness three times, Elisha in the former and Peter, in the latter.

2 Kings 2:2.. I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel
2 Kings 2:4.. I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho
2 Kings 2:6.. I will not leave thee. And they two went on

John 21:17.. He saith unto him the third time,... "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, "Lovest thou me?"

20) Both Elijah and Christ. condemned a Jezebel:

2 Kings 9:36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

Rev 2:20 ..Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds..

21) Both Elijah and Christ re-dedicated the Israelite people to God by raising up a new altar or temple:

1 Ki 18:30.. And ..Elijah.. said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

22) Both Elijah and Christ chose one man upon which to build his following:

2 Kings 2:15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and ..upon.. this ..rock.. I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

23) Both Elijah and Christ were subject of a three day 'search' for their presence:

2 Kings 2:1 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send.
They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

Luke 2:46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions..

Is there or ought there to have been commentary in Judaism about these correspondences???

I might argue what today's Islam teaches regarding Jews but - that is beside the point for me of this particular thread.
I was trying to answer the elementary question of why the whole Jew hatred thing.
And, it is a bit of a dichotomy that you appear to accept the whole history of the Christian Church yet want to refute the history of the Arab and Muslim world for the last 100 years.

Again, I have to use the black African slave analogy.
The American Civil War was fought 150 years ago. Yet, it took another 100 years before Americans who appeared "black" were allowed full civil rights and State instituted segregation was abolished.
And, it took another 20 or 30 years until being a "black" American was no different from being any other "color" (except for racists - mostly those who insist they are "black" nowadays - who still want to view "race" as a significant factor in anything).

So, bearing this very real history in mind - why would you find it so difficult to imagine that Church Law; Church Creed; and All of Christendom up until about the 18th Century, created this image of Jews not only as despised god killers, but as a totally separate race of "subhumans?"
This philosophy is ingrained into humanity by 1500 years of brainwashing.

As far as the Brits go - you would need to study some British history. ALL of the "lower classes" were considered inferior. And Jews, by religious and therefore social definition, were doubly "inferior." Especially those that were successful - "above themselves" as you point out.
It was not until after WWII that the "upper class" attitude towards the "lowers" finally dissolved. And, part of the reason it dissolved was because the "lower classes," such as the new Israelis and Indians, "beat the British." (Which also ticked them off.)

Anti Jewish riots and pogroms in the British Mandate occurred long before the State of Israel came into being.
At first, under the Ottomans, the Jews were just another "foreign people" ripe for swindling, raids and plundering, if their Arab neighbors could get away with it.
Gradually, as the Jews became successful in the British Mandate, their Arab neighbors became resentful (again - as you pointed out). After WWI when the Ottoman Empire was no more and the Arabs found themselves under British Masters, they did what the Christians did for the last 1500 years - blame the Jews for their problems. Kill the Jews. It "must" be their fault! After all, Everybody (Europeans) hates the Jews.
The Holocaust made this attitude amongst Arabs a fait accompli - Their European Masters tried to annihilate the Jews therefore; ipso facto; Jews must be bad.
And then... OY! As each disparate Arab group was trying to take over its own plot of land and dominate the other Arabs, the Jews actually succeeded in making their own country!
Ohh... The perfidy of those Jews! How dare that despised race succeed?
The horror... The horror...

Anyway - I'd better stop now having already gone too far.
However - today's Arab hatreds?
IMHO - the Arabs have been undergoing their massive Great Arab Muslim Sectarian Civil War for the last 100 years and have been wiping each other out to gain dominance of their own faction.
Any attack against the Jews; Israel; "The West;" etc., is "street cred" for any particular faction to attract more followers in their quest for dominance and power over other Muslims and Arabs.
And... Today is the Arab Winter of Their Discontent.

Which has really nothing to do with Israel except... well... there are all these Jews there....

Ok , present day ... Zionists give honest Jews a bad name. Just like Islamic extremists give honest Muslims a bad name. Jews like Blankfien and Madoff commiting the largest frauds and ripoffs in the history of the world give honest jews a bad name. Zionist Jews claiming the Holocaust as a strictly Jewish tragedy gives Jews a bad name

I thought my response was equal to your inquiry:
"What I love about yooz jooz is your pil-pul the ability debate tiny little points. I suppose its why d so many lawyers are jewish anyway

Ok you spell 'God' G-D. However writing is just a means of fixing the sounds. WHen I see you write G-D it says 'God' in my head so you are communicating the same sound. Just like writing F*ck or N*gger just sounds those words too so how does that avoid naming 'God'?"

Apparently, you see nothing denigrating about your particular question.
However, I would suggest that you print this particular question out:
"Secondly. My Great Grandma- Mother's Mother's Mother was born Jewish. Does that make automatically Jewish or potentially jewish?"
And ask your Chabad Rabbi again.
However, I will grant that if your Great Great Great Grandmother was Jewish and your Great Great Grandmother was Jewish and your Great Grandmother was Jewish and your Grandmother was Jewish and your mother was another religion, that you would, indeed be Jewish.
However, if Your Great Great Great Grandmother was another religion, then no - you could not be Jewish.
Indeed, ask your Chabad Rabbi.

Let the faultless nationality cast the first stone at the Jews who also gave us Einstein, Moses, Jesus, and better safer neighborhoods in America than any other nationality in regard to violent crime.

But the issue of Zionism is hardly different than the present cry from American Indians or the Black community seeking belated reparations from a Western European rip-off of centuries past in that regard.

In the case of the Zionists, though, thoise first Jews had simply been granted the right to purchase back their Israeli homes and lands from the lawful owners, which they did.
It was inly after the PLO attempted to rob, rape, and kill them in an Act-of-War that the prize of more Land was added to Israel.

Now the bad muslim sports and poor Palestinian losers of that battle THEY started cry over their own spilt milk.
