Oookkk. Many people have asked if we're going to raise the minimum wage why not to $50 instead of a $15 minimum wage?

Well, the jokes on you! That's exactly what Biden has in store for us. And, the excuse is climate change, no joke.

Biden says jobs that pay $45 or $50 an hour - not $7 or $12 - are part of his climate-infrastructure plan (msn.com)
"I think of one word when I think of climate change: jobs, good-paying jobs," he said. "Not $7 or $12 or $15, but $45, $50 an hour, plus healthcare. That's what is needed."

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Joe Biden deserves to be ridiculed at every turn. What a moron.

It's funny how people in numerous sports stadiums are chanting "F Joe Biden", and how Joe Biden gets greeted at events by jeers and middle fingers, yet he's "the most popular President in history" and "received 81 million votes"???? hahahahahahahaha

I have a few requests/questions for Joe Biden:

    • Define "climate change". The definition cannot be circular and must be unambiguous.
    • How, precisely, do we know what Earth's temperature is?
    • If via land based thermometers, has a target margin of error value been declared? Has a variance value been declared and justified? How many thermometers are being used? Are they uniformly spaced and simultaneously read by the same observer (to eliminate location and time biases)? Has a margin of error calculation been performed? Are thermometers only on Earth's surface or are they all throughout the atmosphere as well?
    • If via satellite, then how do satellites measure Earth's temperature? If they measure light rather than temperature, then what is Earth's emissivity? How do we know precisely what this value is?
    • What specific "actions" will we be taking, and how will they "directly combat climate change", precisely?

Anyone who buys into this Global Warming nonsense is extremely gullible and needs to take basic science, logic, and mathematics courses...

Trump was cheered at sporting events. He had supporters and "I love you" chants wherever he went.

Hmmm... I don't know the details of these climate change jobs are but to be honest I favor this approach over a blanket $15 minimum wage. If his goals are to create more high skilled jobs that pay well I support the initiative. In most tech fields minimum wage is not even on the radar. Most starting salaries are in the 70K + range. Instead of focusing on raising minimum wage we should concentrate on creating better jobs.

These same Negative Nancys would have been thrilled if Trump had promised such high-paying jobs.

People on minimum wage are at the limit of their technologic skills. Forcing a wage hike is aimed at improving their lives. The range discussed her is not going to do them any good as they won't have the skill set or education to fit these jobs in that range.

I might add that Biden is trying to kill petroleum industry jobs that already approach those levels.

I understand the goal of minimum wage, I am just not a supporter of government forcing one, although I do see the downside for unskilled workers. For me I would prefer supporting a strategy of creating better jobs.

When it comes to political promises, what you call a negative nancy is really someone with basic knowledge and experience. Only the young, gullible, and those with amnesia put weight on such promises.

My prediction: If our government places its heavy thump on the pay scale, it will lead to even more outsourcing to countries with far higher levels of pollution.

Better jobs are part of growing but we can't forget who are the ones on welfare and we have to design jobs and wages to relieve that group. It's a big group and has gotten bigger since the government got more generous. Not all of us are worth 50 dollars an hour. When Biden promises wages that high there is a lot of excitement till the $15 an hour crowd learn that 15 is all they will get. Imagine the waitress and buss boys adoration for Joe Biden because they are going to get $50 an hour. Now imagine them actually getting it.

Of course this may be shock therapy. Hit 'em with $50 proposal and see if $15 still sounds so bad?

I do not know what kind of jobs these "climate infrastructure" jobs are, but I doubt they are waitress and buss boys.

If Biden is promising unskilled workers a $50 wage then he deserves all the flax they will give him for it. I don't support his agenda in general but I do support the idea of creating more higher paying skilled jobs.

I would rather he not be thinking of jobs when he should be thinking about climate change. But at least it is related I guess.

I'm not sure what these jobs he is thinking of. Hopefully they are jobs that are actually designed to make a difference, and not just busy work to make it look like he created jobs. We'll see how it goes.

The field I'm in school for, wildlife ecology, is related, so maybe it will end up paying better than I thought it would, lol.

I work in the tech field for financial services. I can't speak for other departments but all of our developers and engineers except new hires and interns are paid more than what Biden proposed. As I said, I don't know what these climate change jobs are but I would assume many are tech related so I would expect them to automatically be in that range. The strange thing is I don't understand the negativity. Even if you do not support Biden you must support the idea.

The article and Biden never say how exactly. But I know if you learn a trade and become self employed those figures are indeed not possible but guaranteed.

That's one possibility. I havn't decided yet what direction I'm going in yet with it. Maybe get a job working for Maine Department of Inland Fish and Wildlife. At the moment I'm extremely fascinated by wetlands ecology, especially insects. So maybe getting work as an environmental consultant assessing sensitive wetlands on properties. There is a lot of work in that field here in Maine. I'm really still exploring what is available, but loving every bit of it.

I don't see it so much as negativity as doubt. That kind of money pays for that kind of skill and the OP seems to relate it to higher minimum wage and that's impossible.

I admit that I have no clue what he was talking about, but $50 per hour jobs are not unheard of in tech sector, but he made it sound like it was more of a norm than exception, so I don't know.

Is Biden talking about minimum wage or just about creating high paying jobs related to climate change? If you are writing software or an engineer creating wind and solar farms I would expect those jobs to pay a lot. Even the technicians to monitor and upkeep them will be skilled and command decent wages.
