Burke County, Ga. Sheriff Alfonzo Williams argued Tuesday that Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe was "completely justified" in using lethal force against 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, whose death has sparked a new round of protests and controversy over policing and racial discrimination in the U.S.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/sheriff-alfonzo-williams-rayshard-brooks-shooting-justified

The man resisted an appropriate arrest, battled with the officers, and was able to get hold of one of their weapons turning it on them. There are consequences to actions.

The citizens of Atlanta should call for the recalling of the mayor, but they're the ones who elected the mayor in the first place.

Has he been fired yet? His house burned down? His social status ruined? His friends leave him? When?

It might be pretty safe to assume the cop doesn't want to be reinstated. I wouldnt want the job back.

Yeah, I will never be a fan of cops shooting people in the back but this one had more then enough justification that rioting over it is just ridiculous.

The cop lovers covered for him in that past so why would he want to give up a gravy job? They'll give him a promotion.

Care to explain why? The "idiot" move was to resist arrest and grab a cop's taser like a damn fool.

That is true and then he ran off, and while he was running off, away from pursuing Coppers, he was shot in the back.

The video I saw does not include that footage, it's unclear. What is clear is the need to simply comply with lawful orders.

    1) A Taser is or isn’t a dangerous weapon, pick one. Or does it depend on what side of their mouth the answer escapes?

    2) situation—DUI, or technically was it even a DUI? Unnecessary escalation by the officers.

    3) little regard for human life

Placing him under arrest was hardly "escalation" that part happened when he thought it was a good idea to resist and grab a weapon. The way you act in a police encounter will determine the outcome. My last one was just after midnight, I was pulled over on my recumbent bike because he claimed riding on the sidewalk was not legal (I knew it was BS and he just pulled me to check for warrents and to see if I was drunk, drugged) I kept my hands visible and was polite. Within ten minutes I was on my way. Had I have argued, put my hands in my saddlebags, etc the outcome would have changed.

I'd pull you over on a recumbent as well, just because they are goofy, lol.

Just kidding, never tried one actually and I've biked for years.

On a plus note, my handle bars and seating position keep my hands very visible.

Shot only AFTER he turned for a second time and shot the taser he stole from the cops after assaulting them. Minor detail I’m sure.

You would figure the cops could have easily shot the guy in the 30 min prior to him resisting arrest...since you know, cops wake up searching for someone to shoot.

As usual stupid guy wins stupid prizes. Maybe we should hear about what a great citizen he was and all the people he’s helped and the good he’s done. Oh whoops. Nothing to report there unless the news wants to LIE again and paint this guy as another saint, which they never are.

This one was very justified. Then again. Cops are just supposed to let Black people go now after they assault drink, drive, assault people, steal are are running away. Because hey they’re not really a threat. The guy could steal a car and run over a few people but who cares. Black lies matter.

I think you'll see that none of it had to go down that way. They allowed him to move his car to a parking spot. He wasn't hurting anyone. He even offered to leave his car and walk to his sister's place. Why wasn't that allowed?

Do you really have zero ****ing clue of what the DUI laws are?

Do you add know what a ****ing DUI is?

I had a friend of my father's get pulled over in his driveway, leo had followed him last 1/4 mile. Handcuffed 20 feet from his front door,

wait.... handcuffed? Why didnt he make a break for it?

I dunno . Maybe hes not a ****ing idiot.

In fact, I do. Thanks for asking so nicely. Part of being a cop is assessing the danger in situations, right? If you watch the entire video - particularly the first 5-10 minutes, you'll see that this man posed no threat to officers. If they suspected he was drunk, why did they let him park his own car? And when he offered to walk home, why didn't they let him? This escalated far beyond where it needed to go. You can hear the people in the parking lot screaming that at the officers. It didn't need to happen. He wasn't recklessly driving. They could have let him walk home - then his daughter would still have a father.
