I don't see an upside for the US. we'd get a pile of muslims, court system that generally coddles them, a miserable health care system that even Croats come over to take advantage of, another open border and more anti america grief.

But that makes no differences because it's market driven, the market decides what oil is sold to whom, americans if their buying oil from canada are buying chinese oil too. One of China's billion dollar purchases came from buying shares of Cononco Phillips an american company, China is a major stakeholder of Canadian oil.

absolutely false, continental shelf is ours and the Russians recognize it. Disputes are over the Lomonosov range and whether it belongs to Canada or Russians continental shelf. Denmark is also expected to claim it. All parties are submitting their claims to a United Nations Commission for arbitration which could take 10 to 20 years for a decision. There will be no armed conflict over this.

The only international dispute is over the NWP and sea routes.

The Convention on the Continental Shelf (UNCLOS I, II and III) is UN agreement signed by Russian, Canada, Denmark, US recognizing ownership of continental shelf for resource development, only dispute is over where one countries claim begins and the others end and that's for the UN commission to decide.

UNCLOS I dates from 1958 when no one truly knew the extent of the continental shelf sloping into the Arctic Ocean. America has not signed or ratified UNCLOS III. Canada's claims are disputed by both America and Russia.

Canada has always had a protector and master. First it was the French Empire. Then the British Empire. Then the American Empire.
