I do, I would never vote for him myself even if I could but I totally understand why people do. So how do you feel?

If you read, "Please Understand Me II", then you will understand people.

When you don't understand people, it's because you're trying to make them a copy of you.

It's also called a democracy, so you can vote for the person or party that mostly covers what you believe in, or you may vote based on the character of a person.

There are multiple possible reasons, some worse than others. The more logical reason would be preferring conservative policy over liberal policy, though to me it's still not really logical because conservative policy is generally incorrect. Racists would generally vote for him, for obvious reasons. It makes me cringe when people vote for politicians for reasons like charisma and just "liking" them. But I guess for the president in particular, decorum matters. Though for Trump, he's kind of the antithesis of that. I disliked him before he even ran for president because of how he treats people. It only got worse over time.

I would think a racist would be more inclined to vote for the person that said that he didn't want his children growing up in a racial jungle.

I’d say a lot of Republicans vote for Trump because he’s not a democrat. Nothing new there, republicans voting for republicans, democrats for democrats. History shows on average 94% of members of or the base of both major parties vote for their candidates regardless of who those candidates are. In today’s modern political era of polarization, the great divide, the super, mega, ultra-high partisan ship, this should be expected.

I think all the negative personal attacks ads done by both major parties to make the other party’s candidates look like the most evil scumbags on the face of the earth over the last 30-40 years has each party’s base believing that is true. They’ve heard it so much from their party’s leaders and candidates, they believe it all to be the gospel.

As for Trump, he’s certainly a polarizing individual. Most republicans love him, most democrats hate him. There’s no in-betweens with Trump. I don’t know why one party would expect the other party to abandon their candidate and vote for the other party’s candidate. That isn’t about to happen, not in today’s political era. Although with Trump, there’s a lot more involved, but these are the basics.

Many people think that the government has screwed them over for years. They like Donald Trump's abrasive style and think that he represents their feelings better than any other politician. Trump does not parse words. You know where he stands. Unfortunately, that has made Trump the most hated politician in America.

I am not voting for him because he is stubborn and lacks the finesse to be effective. He lost me when he held that stupid rally on January 6. The election result was set; there was no changing it. Instead of planning for 2024, he kept running 2020 through the ringer.

I voted for him in 2016 because because he running against Hillary Clinton who is crook. I voted for him in 2020 because he was running against Biden who is old, senile and also a crook.

Yes, I think you put it well, in many ways people don't vote for Trump but against those who despise him so?

RFKjr would be a good president.
    D. Trump would be an acceptable president.
    Biden is a disaster.

I wrote these responses to a very reasonable poster in another thread. See if this helps.

Many people don’t make the distinction, but prejudice is the word you’re probably thinking of. Racism is more related to disadvantaged ethnicities. Maybe there’s a country somewhere where white people are disadvantaged. Then you could call prejudice against them racism.

Simple. Same reason 900 people drank the cool-aid for Jim Jones ... they wanted to part of a cult of personality.

If they just wanted Republican ideas implemented - they would have voted for a Republican - they decided to vote for a Kardashian style
idol instead. They ended up with no wall, no health care reform, no long term energy plan, the worst GDP average of any modern president, a White House
that was in constant disarray, and, in the end, an attempt to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and years of civil and criminal investigations. And
they are STILL drinking the cool-aid because it's still a cult of personality.

Ehh no. Racism is the feeling of superiority due to ones race. A black person can and has expressed that trait of inherited superiority over white people. "I'm a better person than you because I am black".

I'm sorry if that's inconvenient for you

Here is the definition since you got lied to in that CRT nonsense.

"the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another."

For city council, perhaps. Not for President. Same for Biden.

No. Not anymore. I had previously defended people who voted for him because they thought he was the lesser of two evils, but the only reason I now see to vote for him is if you hate democracy. Period. No exceptions.

Interesting. I consider both “incorrect “ but living in the dems petri dish, results show which party is worse.

Why do people vote for Trump? Because of frustration, helplessness, and anger at feeling betrayed and ignored by the whole damned government.

It's not a direct comparison, but it is very interesting to compare the political situation we have brewing in the United States right now with the situation that existed in 1932 in Germany! And, as far as relevance to this thread is concerned, we might also ask, "Why did people vote for Hitler?" or, "Why did people vote for Ernst Thälmann?"

And, no, this doesn't mean that Trump is a "Hitler", and it doesn't mean that Biden is a "Thälmann " (the Communist in the 1932 election). But, Germany was very DEEPLY divided in 1932, much as we Americans are very DEEPLY divided in 2023....

Lot of people are dumb as hell.

And leaders like Trump are surrounded by people who are smart as hell and apply ways to motivate the masses.
