I don't want to play 20 questions with you. I refuse to believe that you don't understand what I am talking about. That makes you just argumentative.

    Nobody is promoting a lifestyle.

When a 6 year old asks the teacher why Billy is telling the kids he has two dads, the republicans want the teacher to say, "That's a lie; nobody can have two dads. Billy is lying and his parents are sinning against God."

All the teacher wants is the right to say, "Yes, Billy does have two dads. Some kids have two moms and some kids only have one mom or one dad. There are lots of types of families!" <--- This is what the republicans equate with "giving 6 year old blow job demonstrations.

    But, you already know this.

???? The laws apply equally to trans and cis, gay or straight and women and men. A white, cis, hetero male 1st grade teacher is restricted from teaching his students about homosexuality and transgenderism just as the black, transgendered female, lesbian teacher is restricted.

Nonsense. Nothing above includes instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity. Nothing above would violate the law.

Of course but the right thing for the teacher to say is "ask your parents." Schools should stick to academic subjects.

That's literally why the law was created. It wants to prevent discussion on non traditional families.

What if the kid wants to ask about slavery? This is now also against the law in Florida. Is history an academic subject?

That is history. History is an academic subject. It is not against the law in Florida. Your lefty media are confusing you.

Nonsense you make up. Nowhere in the statutes will you find anything regarding non traditional families.

Nope. They can discuss slavery as long as it doesn't make white kids feel bad.

As a white kid, I always felt ooky while discussing slavery in school, circa 1975-1985. ANY person who isn't made queasy by some of history, isn't learning ANY history. That's a fact. Most of history, in fact, is extremely disturbing. It also made my teeth itch when discussing the American revolution, our expansion West, including our various interactions with natives, both WWs, and the biggy back then was Vietman. All, very very disturbing, but nonetheless, very important to study in school.

Kids can take it. I promise. They aren't the fragile flowers the right likes to pretend they are. (But only American kids; kids mining for elements in third world countries to support their 1st world lifestyle is perfectly okay.)

Are you saying that there are 900,000 gays in Florida that once planned to vote for DeSantis? I think a more realistic number would be 9.

Lol. Pointing out hypocrisy is never stupid. Pretending one isn’t a hypocrite while being a hypocrite, is.

Which has nothing to do with my post. Which was about your junior high schooler response. You can add this one to the list.

Nope. They can teach about slavery without political ideology.

Read my post again if you have to ask what I said.

Its not only gays who vote. Lot of people don't like it when government tries to marginalize any group of people. The religiously motivated campaign to "drive the gay back in the closet" is most likely going to backfire. When gay marriage was still an issue, most people supported their right to get married, even thought most people are not gay.

I wondered what would happen when Supreme Court took abortion off the table as #1 issue. What would the GOP try to replace it with to attract the evangelical vote, and they chose this, but protecting the unborn made sense, but discriminating against groups of people.....tut-tut. GOP voters are ok with it, but Independents don't like it.

You said DeSantis position on LGBTQ issues would cost him votes and that there are 900K such votes. My response was to take issue with the idea that he would get those votes regardless. That ain't his people.

No, you didn't get the point. I didn't say it will cost him votes only from gay people, but I already explained that, so...

But a lot people who don’t hate gay people did vote for him. Since his re election, he’s gone full on hate towards a segment of his populace. That’s just sad. Nasty. Mean spirited. Wrong. Disgusting.

I didn't say that either. I would have never considered that those were the only votes, just that they aren't in his camp anyway.

They may not be in his camp, but that is irrelevant, because this is costing him votes from many camps, especially the independent one.

Maybe. Florida is pretty Redneck though so getting on the ticket in '24 is the first concern. Politicians always adjust their stance as things move along.

Actually he gained a lot of new voters in the last election. He did not lose them. This is because people support intelligent, balanced, and well written legislation such as the Florida Parental Rights Act.
